Dwayne Allen Could Be Roster Casualty

Miami Dolphins tight end Dwayne Allen has missed practice all week and has played just 14 snaps in the preseason. He'll need to convince the team he's healthy in order to make the team at this point. Nick O'Leary, Mike Gesicki and Durham Smythe are likely to make the 53-man roster, while Chris Myarick could stay on the practice squad. Allen caught 13 passes in 19 games in two seasons with the Patriots the last two years, and the fact that he might not even make Miami's roster this year is saying a lot. He's obviously well off the fantasy radar.

Dwayne Allen Able To Get To Work On Tuesday

Miami Dolphins tight end Dwayne Allen (knee) has been limited due to a knee injury, but he was finally able to take part in his first 11-on-11 work of training camp on Tuesday. Allen was fairly productive in five seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, including career highs of 45 grabs, 521 yards and 66 targets in 2012, and eight touchdowns in the 2014 campaign. He was a role player in New England the past two seasons, mostly non-existent in the offense. Allen will need a long-term injury to starter Mike Gesicki to have any fantasy appeal in 2019.

Dwayne Allen Expected To Miss A Few Weeks

New England Patriots tight end Dwayne Allen (knee) injured his knee in Week 10 against the Titans. He will not need surgery but is expected to miss a few weeks, according to a source. Even with Rob Gronkowski beat up this year and missing some time, Allen hasn't made an impact on offense, catching only three of four targets for 27 yards. Jacob Hollister has been injured and missed multiple games as well behind Gronk.

Dwayne Allen Takes Pay Cut

New England Patriots tight end Dwayne Allen agreed to reduce his contract in 2018. He was due $4.5 million with a $5 million salary cap hit, but that will now be lowered. Allen had just 10 catches for 86 yards and one score in his first season with New England in 2017. He isn't fantasy relevant unless Rob Gronkowski misses time with an injury, which is entirely plausible.

Dwayne Allen Could Be On Roster Bubble

New England Patriots tight end Dwayne Allen, who is the backup to Rob Gronkowski, could be on the roster bubble because he's due $4.5 million in base salary with a $5 million salary cap charge in 2018. That could be too high for the Patriots for a tight end who primarily blocks. The Patriots could ask him to take a pay cut or release him if he doesn't agree. However, the rest of the tight ends on the team's roster don't have great blocking skills, so that could keep Allen around. New England could use more two-tight end sets to begin the year if Julian Edelman's four-game suspension holds up, but even then Allen won't be much of a fantasy option.

Dwayne Allen May Not Return To New England

New England Patriots tight end Dwayne Allen will "be challenged to return" to the Patriots at his current salary, according to ESPN's Mike Reiss. Allen is scheduled to make $5 million in salary and bonuses in 2018, all of which the Patriots can save against the cap by cutting him. He was effective as a blocker his first season in New England, but he showed nothing in the passing game, catching just 10 passes for 86 yards and struggling to make anything happen even when Rob Gronkowski was sidelined. The Patriots can probably find a cheaper blocking specialist.

Dwayne Allen Not Worth A Play Against Eagles

New England Patriots tight end Dwayne Allen is not expected to be heavily involved in the Patriots offensive game plan for this Sunday's Super Bowl. Allen caught two passes for 26 yards in the AFC Divisional Round against the Bills but has been non-existent this season. He has only one touchdown catch on the season after posting six touchdowns and 406 receiving yards last season for the Colts. The Eagles defense will have most of its focus on Rob Gronkowski, but don't expect the targets to go Allen's way. Allen is a high-risk play in fantasy for this Sunday and will be extremely touchdown-dependent to post any kind of fantasy stat line for this Sunday.

Dwayne Allen Plays Sparingly On Sunday

New England Patriots tight end Dwayne Allen played only six snaps on Sunday in the win over New York. After being statistically absent in Week 5 , despite the absence of star tight end Rob Gronkowski during the team's Thursday night matchup against Tampa Bay, Allen appears to be fizzling, and fizzling fast. With the team looking to establish the run early against the Jets, fullback James Develin was used on blocking schemes throughout the game, making Allen virtually irrelevant. The team also recently signed tight end Will Tye to the practice squad which also doesn't look good for Allen's outlook with the team. Stay tuned.

Dwayne Allen Critical Of His Own Play

New England Patriots tight end Dwayne Allen recently called himself out for his recent lack of efficient play. "I certainly haven't played up to my potential" commented Allen in regards to his lackluster play this season. Allen, who was acquired by the team over the summer from the Indianapolis Colts, has zero receptions on the year. In wake of the injury to tight end Rob Gronkowski (thigh) that kept him out against Tampa Bay, he was anticipated to step in and have a larger role. However, he wasn't anywhere to be found and was a major disappointment to fantasy owners hoping to cash in on Gronkowski's absence. Allen scored six touchdowns last season with his former team but looks a long ways away from where he was not too long ago.

Dwayne Allen Better Prepared For Upcoming Season

After showing up at spring OTAs in not as good of shape as he had hoped, New England Patriots tight end Dwayne Allen committed to turning things around in time for training camp. Allen, who has built a solid reputation for his professionalism and hard working demeanor, has put in extra work recently to ensure he meets expectations this upcoming season, especially as it pertains to conditioning. Allen was picked up by New England this past offseason in a trade with the Colts and has reportedly had a very successful training camp that included an abundance of red zone work with quarterback Tom Brady. Allen will take over for former number two Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett, who filled in nicely for injured tight end Rob Gronkowski last season. If Gronkowski does indeed miss time again this season, Allen will have the opportunity to not only fill in, but produce as well. If he goes undrafted in your fantasy league, which could be the case in some instances, he will be swooped up from free agency the second any mention of injury to Gronkowski occurs. It is highly likely that "Gronk" could get injured this season, as this has been the norm for him throughout his career. As a result, if you see Allen floating around during the later rounds of your fantasy draft, consider snagging him before it's too late.
