Veteran free-agent quarterback Jeff Driskel is signing with the Washington Commanders, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. This will be the eighth team the 30-year-old will have been with during his career, and he's likely going to be utilized as a training camp arm more than anything else. Originally picked in the sixth round by the San Francisco 49ers out of Louisiana Tech in 2016, Driskel has completed 58.6% of his passes for 2,394 yards 16 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in 23 career games. He's added 417 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. With Washington almost certainly going to select a quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick in this month's draft and Marcus Mariota on the roster, it's tough to see Driskel sticking around with the organization into the 2024 regular season.
Cleveland Browns quarterback Jeff Driskel will serve as Joe Flacco's backup for Saturday's wild-card playoff game against the Houston Texans, according to offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt. Driskel gets the backup nod for the playoffs over P.J. Walker despite the fact he didn't join the Browns until November. The 30-year-old got the start in a meaningless Week 18 regular season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals and predictably wasn't very good, going 13-for-26 for 166 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in his first game action of the season. Flacco will return to the starting gig for super wild-card weekend as the Browns look to beat the Texans for the second time in the last four weeks -- they beat the Texans 36-22 back in Week 16 in Houston.
Cleveland Browns quarterback Jeff Driskel completed 13 of his 26 passes for 166 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in a 31-14 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 18. Driskel also added seven rushes for 33 yards in his first career start for the Browns. Both of Driskel's touchdown passes went to David Bell in the loss to the Bengals. Driskel will return to a reserve role when the Browns face off against the Houston Texans in the Wild Card round of the playoffs next week.
Cleveland Browns quarterback Jeff Driskel was just signed to the active roster on Dec. 29 but will be starting against the Cincinnati Bengals in the Week 18 regular-season finale. Driskel will get the call with Cleveland already locked into the No. 5 seed in the AFC and opting to rest several starters including Joe Flacco. Driskel hasn't played in a game since Week 18 of the 2022 season but he will be out there against a Cincinnati defense that is allowing the 10th-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season. Driskel is in play as a low-end QB2 with some appeal as a cheap option as a dart throw in DFS tournaments this weekend.
Joe Flacco To Be Rested, Jeff Driskel Starting In Week 18
The Cleveland Browns will rest quarterback Joe Flacco for the Week 18 regular season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday with the team already locked into the No. 5 seed in the AFC for the playoffs. With the Browns resting Flacco, Jeff Driskel will make the start and P.J. Walker will back him up. The 30-year-old Driskel will only be worth looking at for fantasy managers that are in a bind in two-QB superflex leagues this weekend. He'll be playing for the first time this season. Driskel spent the 2022 season with the Houston Texans and played in seven games (two starts), going 14-for-20 for 108 yards passing, one touchdown and no interceptions. It's likely the Browns will rest other key starters on offense like receiver Amari Cooper (heel), too, so make sure to check back for updates this week.
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jeff Driskel (calf) did not suit up for Friday's preseason opener versus the Denver Broncos. The 30-year-old was held out of the contest due to a strained calf. Driskel signed with the Cardinals over the offseason, which makes them his fifth team in six years. Normally, his status wouldn't be notable, but he is in the running for the starting gig with Kyler Murray (knee) still sidelined. Driskel is competing with Colt McCoy, David Blough, and Clayton Tune for the starting quarterback spot while Murray is out. However, it's tough to imagine any of them having fantasy value while Murray is gone.
The Arizona Cardinals signed quarterback Jeff Driskel to a one-year deal on Monday, another depth option for a team that could be without its starting quarterback in 2023. Kyler Murray injured his ACL in Week 14 and will miss at least the first half of this season. Driskel has completed 59.2% of his pass attempts for 14 touchdowns and 8 interceptions in a five-year career with the Bengals, Lions, Broncos, and Texans. He slots as the No. 4 QB on the Cardinals depth chart, behind former Lions QB David Blough, whom the Cardinals also signed this offseason.
Free-agent quarterback Jeff Driskel agreed to a one-year deal with the Cardinals. Kyler Murray (knee) and Colt McCoy (wrist) may not be ready to begin the 2023-24 campaign, so Arizona moved to strengthen the depth chart. The signal-caller appeared in seven games for the Texans last season, going 14-for-20 passing for 108 yards and one touchdown. He also had 20 carries for 75 yards. Driskel could be competing with David Blough for the right to start until Murray or McCoy are healthy. However, even if Driskel starts a few games, he's not someone fantasy managers should draft.
Free-agent quarterback Jeff Driskel visited with the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday. The Cardinals are uncertain if Kyler Murray will be back in time for Week 1. That being said, it appears that the Cardinals are looking to add insurance to their quarterback room. Driskel split reps with Davis Mills in Houston down the stretch last season. He threw for 108 yards and a touchdown in his seven appearances in 2022. Driskel is an above average athlete, so maybe we see a Taysom Hill type of situation here. Regardless, it's unlikely that Driskel has fantasy value next season.
Texans To Continue Using Both Davis Mills, Jeff Driskel
The Houston Texans plan to continue using both quarterbacks Davis Mills and Jeff Driskel in Week 16 against the Tennessee Titans on Christmas Eve on Saturday. Offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton said the two-QB system was initially an "experiment," but now it's a part of the offense to "create conflict" and to disrupt the opposing defense. "We hope it will limit the potential looks we will see," Hamilton said. It's worked, as the Texans have nearly defeated the Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs in back-to-back weeks while employing the strategy on offense. Driskel has ceded most of the work to Mills under center, with Mills attempting 24 passes to Driskel's four attempts in Week 15. Neither signal-caller should be in fantasy lineups, even in two-QB leagues, this weekend against the Titans.
