Jordan Akins Dealing With Leg Injury At Camp

Cleveland Browns tight end Jordan Akins (leg) is missing his second straight day of training camp practice on Saturday with his leg in a sleeve. Akins has reunited with quarterback Deshaun Watson after the two played together with the Houston Texans, but he's currently not able to practice due to injury. The 31-year-old is excited about the opportunity to work with Watson again, but he's going to struggle for consistent targets alongside both starter David Njoku and Harrison Bryant. At best, the big-bodied tight end could serve as a touchdown-dependent TE2 in the deepest of fantasy leagues in 2023. He would only become attractive in shallower leagues if Njoku misses time with an injury.

Jordan Akins Expects To Have Expanded Role

Cleveland Browns tight end Jordan Akins will be behind David Njoku on the tight end depth chart in 2023, but Akins has pre-established chemistry with quarterback Deshaun Watson and expects to have a bigger role than what he had the last five years with the Houston Texans. Akins caught 90 of 129 targets for 1,046 yards and three touchdowns in three years with Watson in Houston, when he wasn't the No. 1 tight end. The 31-year-old led the Texans with five TDs in 2022 and had a career-high 495 receiving yards. Akins is excited about working with Watson again and also having a different route tree in a new offense. However, unless Njoku misses time with an injury, Akins is probably going to be off the fantasy radar, especially with Harrison Bryant also around.

Jordan Akins Eager To Work With Deshaun Watson Again

Cleveland Browns tight end Jordan Akins chose to sign with Cleveland this offseason mainly because it would give him another chance to work with a quarterback he already knew in Deshaun Watson. Akins played his first three NFL seasons with Watson in Houston and enjoyed catching passes from him. The 6-foot-4, 245-pounder will give Watson another big tight end who can be a weapon in the red zone, and Akins is coming off his best season with five touchdowns for the Texans. While working with Watson in Houston, Akins caught 90 passes for 1,046 yards and three TDs in three years. The 31-year-old's familiarity with Watson is a plus, but unless David Njoku misses time with an injury in 2023, Akins won't have a ton of fantasy appeal.

Jordan Akins Visiting The Browns

Free-agent tight end Jordan Akins is visiting the Cleveland Browns, according to a source. It was impossible to trust any pass-catcher from the Houston Texans last year, but Akins had 37 catches (54 targets), a career-high 495 receiving yards and a career-high five touchdowns in 15 games (three starts) in Houston in 2022 in his fifth year in the league. The Browns already have tight ends David Njoku and Harrison Bryant, though, so he'll be even further from the fantasy radar if he signs in Cleveland. Akins has accumulated 151 catches for 1,755 yards and eight touchdowns on 216 targets in 73 games (26 starts) in his five seasons with the Texas to this point in his career.

Jordan Akins Catches Pair Of Touchdowns

Houston Texans tight end Jordan Akins caught a pair of touchdowns and the game-winning two-point conversion in Sunday's win over the Indianapolis Colts. He finished the game with four catches for 70 yards and was targeted a team-high eight times. It was a strong showing for Akins, who has looked like Houston's best tight end over the latter part of the season. But despite his strong play to end the year, he's unlikely to be on the fantasy radar when 2023 fantasy drafts start up, based on his overall body of work.

Jordan Akins Is Risky Week 16 Play

Houston Texans tight end Jordan Akins found the end zone last week against Kansas City, but he only finished with three catches for 22 yards. He's now finished with under 25 yards in four of the last five games. On Saturday, he faces the Tennessee Titans, who held him to one catch for five yards earlier in the season. Akins is a touchdown-or-bust play in Week 16, and there are probably other players on your wire who have better upside and less downside.

Jordan Akins Finds End Zone In Week 15

Houston Texans tight end Jordan Akins caught three passes for 22 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. He was targeted six times, the second-most of any Texans player. In a tight end landscape where there are not a lot of consistent streaming options, Akins has some appeal because the Texans are lacking in pass-catchers right now, but he has just three games all season with over 50 receiving yards, so you'll have to live with the lows being low, even if he has two touchdowns in the last four games.

Jordan Akins A Low-End Streaming Option In Week 15

Houston Texans tight end Jordan Akins has flashed solid utilization and fantasy production at times this season and will look to take advantage of a great opportunity against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 15. With both Nico Collins (foot) and Brandin Cooks (calf) ruled out, Akins could see a fair amount of targets in a contest in which Houston will be forced to throw the ball. Of course, both of the aforementioned wideouts were inactive last week and Akins recorded just one reception for five yards, so expectations should remain in check. If you're desperate for a streaming option at the position, though, Akins could be worth a flier in deeper leagues.

Jordan Akins Worth Streaming In Week 14

Houston Texans tight end Jordan Akins finds himself on the fantasy radar heading into Week 14 versus the Dallas Cowboys. The 30-year-old has totaled 17 targets, 13 receptions, 162 yards, one touchdown, and 33.2 fantasy points over the course of his last four games. His role in the Texans' offense will grow even further on Sunday after wide receivers Brandin Cooks (calf) and Nico Collins (foot) were ruled out. As a result, Akins' main competition for targets will be Chris Moore, Phillip Dorsett, and Brevin Jordan. Finally, the Cowboys are heavy favorites, meaning Davis Mills will have to throw the football a lot. Akins has a shot to lead the Texans in every major receiving category, making him a fringe top-12 tight end heading into this weekend's games.

Jordan Akins Catches Touchdown Against Miami

Houston Texans tight end Jordan Akins caught five passes for a team-high 61 yards, including the only receiving touchdown of the contest for the Texans. Akins has had some solid showings this year, but he's also had some games where he was a complete non-factor, and there's really been no rhyme or reason to which outcome we get each week. He's a streaming TE2 play, assuming you believe that his usage this week is a reflection of who new starting QB Kyle Allen intends to target the most.
