Los Angeles Rams running back Justin Davis rushed 16 times for 78 yards and a touchdown in the preseason finale Thursday. He also tacked on a 14-yard reception. Davis doesn't figure to see a lot of work if running backs Todd Gurley and Malcolm Brown stay healthy. Keep his productivity in your memory bank in case he is thrust into action this season for a potential waiver claim.
Justin Davis, John Kelly Looking to Capitalize Saturday
Los Angeles Rams running backs Justin Davis and John Kelly are looking to capitalize on their impressive starts to the preseason. Kelly ran for 77 yards on 13 attempts in their preseason opener. Davis finished with 41 yards on seven attempts, but both players finished with the same yards per carry in that game. Todd Gurley is obviously the lead back, while Malcolm Brown is expected to be the second string behind him. There is a chance that Davis or Kelly pass Brown on the depth chart this preseason. However, Gurley is going to see a majority of the carries, so there shouldn't be another fantasy relevant back for the Rams.
Undrafted rookie running back Justin Davis has made the Los Angeles Rams roster after an impressive preseason. Davis looked like a seasoned pro during the preseason games, and he immediately started getting talk about being named the main backup to starter Todd Gurley. While the team also kept Malcolm Brown, he'll likely operate more as a third-down back, so Davis will be the likely backup to fit Gurley's profile.
While he's not going to take the starting spot anytime soon, Los Angeles Rams undrafted free-agent running back Justin Davis is pressuring the Los Angeles Rams into finding a place for him somewhere. Davis showed his prowess on the ground in the first preseason game of the year by rolling up 70 yards in just nine carries, and he snagged three catches in the second preseason game for 20 yards. With Lance Dunbar (knee) remaining out indefinitely, the door is open for Davis to challenge expected backup Malcolm Brown for the third-down role.
