Karan Higdon Waived

Since Lamar Miller went down with a season-ending knee injury, the main question with the Houston Texans running back was whether undrafted free agent running back Karan Higdon or fellow UDFA back Damarea Crockett would make the team and see early-down work. But after Saturday's trade for Carlos Hyde, the answer is neither. Crockett was released earlier in the day, but once the cut deadline arrived, word leaked out that Higdon would also not be on the 53-man roster. Hyde and Duke Johnson will get all the work for the Texans, which gives both guys a high fantasy floor. Higdon's next step isn't known yet, but it's hard to see a path for him to re-draft value this season now.

Karan Higdon Tries In Preseason Finale

Houston Texans running back Karan Higdon rushed for 25 yards on eight carries while adding two receptions for 16 yards in Thursday's preseason loss to the Los Angeles Rams, but it might be a case of "too little, too late" for the undrafted rookie. Higdon appears to be clearly on the bad end of the roster cut line, and while he had moments on Thursday night, he's very likely heading for a practice squad somewhere. He's still worth holding in dynasty leagues, but anyone who took him in re-draft after the Lamar Miller injury can probably safely move on from him, though it's fair if you want to wait until the cuts are official to be safe.

Karan Higdon Leads Team In Carries Against Cowboys

Houston Texans running back Karan Higdon carried the ball a team-high 13 times for 28 yards in Saturday's preseason loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Higdon was the first back up after starter Lamar Miller went down with an ACL, which seems to suggest he's next in line in this Houston offense to see early down work. However, Higdon wasn't that impressive in this one and could very well wind up cut by the time the season rolls around. It's a fluid situation, and there's no good reason to pick Higdon in a re-draft league until we actually have some clarity.
