The Dallas Cowboys have traded cornerback Kelvin Joseph for Miami Dolphins cornerback Noah Igbinoghene. Joseph was a second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Kentucky, while Igbinoghene was taken by Miami in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Auburn. Both cornerbacks have underperformed for the teams who drafted them and will get fresh starts in new destinations. Dallas' secondary is headlined by a superstar duo of Stephon Gilmore and Trevon Diggs. Miami has a star duo in Xavien Howard and Jalen Ramsey (knee) but Ramsey is expected to miss at least half of the 2023 regular season.
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Kelvin Joseph (back) left the team's practice on Wednesday with a tight back. It doesn't sound like the injury is very serious, but the Cowboys will take precaution at this point in the offseason. Joseph, a second-rounder in 2021, has mostly been a special teams player in his first two NFL seasons in Dallas, but he did take on a larger role toward the end of last season opposite Trevon Diggs in the secondary. The 23-year-old will open the 2023 campaign in a reserve role yet again after the Cowboys acquired Stephon Gilmore in a trade with the Indianapolis Colts in the offseason. Joseph has only 36 tackles (30 solo), four passes defensed, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in 26 games (three starts) the last two seasons.
Kelvin Joseph Possibly Connected To Fatal Shooting
The Dallas Cowboys released a statement that they are aware of Dallas Cowboys cornerback Kelvin Joseph's "possible connection" to an ongoing murder investigation that occurred on March 18. In video footage obtained in Dallas, one of the individuals involved in the altercation was wearing a YKDV necklace. Joseph, a second-round pick last year, goes by the rap name "YKDV Bossman Fat." The Cowboys are encouraging Joseph to speak with police to discuss what he knows about the situation. The 21-year-old defensive back had 16 tackles (13 solo), two passes defensed and a fumble recovery in 10 games (two starts) during his rookie season last year.
