Cowboys Sign La'el Collins

The Dallas Cowboys are signing free-agent offensive tackle La'el Collins to an undisclosed deal on Friday, according to Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Collins hasn't played in the NFL since 2022 with the Cincinnati Bengals, but he'll now reunite with the Cowboys after playing the first six years of his NFL career with the team. The 32-year-old veteran signed with the Buffalo Bills back in early April after missing all of the 2024 season with a knee injury. In his 89 games played in the NFL, Collins has made 86 starts. He could be forced into a starting role in 2025 with offensive linemen Tyler Guyton (knee), Tyler Smith (knee), Robert Jones (neck), Matt Waletzko (ankle) and Hakeem Adeniji (concussion) all injured right now in training camp.

La'El Collins To Work Out With Cowboys

Free-agent offensive tackle La'El Collins will work out for the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday. Assuming Collins is able to pass a physical, the Cowboys could sign him to their practice squad so that he can work his way into football shape. The 30-year-old spent the first six seasons of his NFL career with the Cowboys before joining the Cincinnati Bengals last year. He hasn't played with anyone so far this season after tearing his ACL and MCL last year, but he could be a familiar face for the Cowboys to provide offensive-line depth as the team heads into the postseason. There's no guarantee that Collins will work his way onto Dallas' 53-man active roster by wild-card weekend.

La'El Collins Works Out For Jets

Veteran free-agent offensive lineman La'El Collins worked out for the New York Jets on Tuesday and is now on his way to visit with the New York Giants, according to a source. The former Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman played in 15 games for the Cincinnati Bengals but also tore both his ACL and MCL in his left knee in Week 16. The Bengals cut him on Sept. 12 after he passed a physical. The 30-year-old can give any team some veteran experience on the offensive line. The Giants are especially in need of some reinforcements on their offensive line due to injuries and poor play that have basically stopped their offense dead in its tracks with running back Saquon Barkley (ankle) hurt.

Bengals Release La'El Collins

The Cincinnati Bengals released right tackle La'El Collins (knee) on Tuesday. Collins began the 2023 regular season on the Physically Unable to Perform list after suffering ACL and MCL tears in his left knee in Week 16 in 2022 in his first year in Cincy, so he was going to miss at least the first four weeks of this season. With the 30-year-old injured to start the season, Jonah Williams has stepped in as the team's starting right tackle. Collins should be able to latch on with another team for offensive-line depth once he gets past his knee injury. The former undrafted free agent out of LSU played the first six seasons of his NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys before joining the Bengals last year.

La'el Collins Placed On PUP List

Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle La'el Collins (knee) will open training camp on the physically unable to perform list. The veteran joined the Bengals on a three-year, $21 million contract last offseason. But he struggled throughout the season. Even worse, Collins tore his ACL and MCL during the Week 16 matchup versus the Patriots, ending his year. Cincinnati is committed to keeping Joe Burrow upright, so much so that the team signed Orlando Brown Jr. in March. Collins has proven to be a quality protector over the years. However, his future with the Bengals may come down to which version shows up to play down the line.

La'el Collins Remains Without Return Date

Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle La'el Collins (knee) reported he feels "great." However, he doesn't know if he'll be ready to suit up come Week 1. The former LSU Tiger joined the Bengals on a three-year, $21 million contract last offseason. Yet, he suffered a torn ACL and MCL during the Week 16 meeting against the New England Patriots. There have been rumors the Bengals could part ways with him in a cost-saving move. But if he remains in Cincinnati, he'll eventually be included in a protection unit that recently added offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr.

La'El Collins Could Be A Cap Casualty

Cincinnati Bengals right tackle La'El Collins missed most of last season with a back injury, struggled mightily and then ended his season by tearing his ACL and MCL on Christmas Eve. He will turn 30 years old before training camp, and cutting him this offseason would save $6.1 million against the 2023 salary cap with $3.3 million in dead money. If he's cut after June 1, the Bengals would save $7.7 million with just $1.7 million in dead money. Collins was slow to get his "season legs" after his back injury but then injured his knee when he was just finding his footing. The 29-year-old was the team's best run-blocker, but he was pretty bad in pass protection. And with questions as to whether Collins will be ready for Week 1 in 2023, he's a prime candidate to be let go.

La'el Collins Put On Injured Reserve

The Cincinnati Bengals placed right tackle La'el Collins (knee) on Injured Reserve on Friday. Collins will miss the rest of the season after he suffered a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee in the Week 16 win over the New England Patriots. With the injury coming late in the season, the 29-year-old might not be ready to go for the start of the 2023 campaign. Cincinnati's offensive line has been better than they were a year ago, but losing Collins will be an interesting storyline to follow with the playoffs only two weeks away. Hakeem Adeniji is expected to step in as the Bengals' starting right tackle from here on out.

La'el Collins Won't Play Again This Season

Cincinnati Bengals right tackle La'el Collins (knee) will miss the rest of the season. The veteran left Saturday's win over the Patriots after injuring his knee. While there was a belief he dodged a bullet upon an initial examination, an MRI on Sunday revealed he suffered a torn ACL and MCL. The 29-year-old agreed to a three-year contract with Cincinnati back in March to add stability to an offensive line that struggled during the 2021-22 campaign. While things have gotten better, the unit still hasn't looked the best at times throughout the season. Nevertheless, Collins is anticipated to need seven months to recover, so he could be ready to go by Week 1 next season. Hakeem Adeniji is expected to replace him for the remainder of the year.

La'el Collins Won't Return On Saturday

Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle La'el Collins (knee) won't return to Saturday's meeting with New England. The veteran didn't last long, going down in the first quarter with a knee injury. However, Joe Burrow, Tee Higgins, and Ja'Marr Chase have had no problems getting it done so far in Week 16 against the Pats defense, so losing Collins hasn't caused any issues.
