Los Angeles Rams running back Lance Dunbar will remain the backup to starter Todd Gurley. It sounds like Malcolm Brown could be sidelined for significant time which means Dunbar will step up in his role. Dunbar is expected to play in pass situations, but Gurley is locked down as an every down back. The Rams will look for ways to get Dunbar involved, but most of his reps will be in blowouts. No need to own him or use Dunbar for fantasy purposes, and he's not expected to do much against a tough Vikings defense.
Los Angeles Rams running back Lance Dunbar (knee) is healthy and ready to be activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list, but the Rams can delay the process for a few weeks to preserve their roster depth. Dunbar could provide some depth as a pass-catching back behind stud Todd Gurley, but there remains no real reason to stash Dunbar, even deeper leagues.
Head coach Sean McVay implied to reporters on Sunday that Los Angeles Rams running back Lance Dunbar (knee) will probably remain out for quite a while. Dunbar has been sidelined throughout training camp, and per McVay, it "doesn't look like there's a resolution in the near future." Dunbar was brought in to act as a third-down back due to his catch-and-run abilities, but his long injury history appears to have followed him to the West Coast.
When the Los Angeles Rams signed running back Lance Dunbar to act as a third-down back for them, they knew he had an extensive injury history. They now get to see it first hand. Dunbar has been sidelined so far in training camp with a knee injury, and there is currently no timetable for when he's set to return. Backup Malcolm Brown is benefiting from the extra early-season exposure, but he doesn't quite bring the same explosiveness to the role that Dunbar possesses. If Dunbar can come back healthy, he should slot back into the regular rotation.
Newly signed running back Lance Dunbar has been placed on the Active/PUP list by the Los Angeles Rams due to an undisclosed injury. Dunbar was signed away from the Dallas Cowboys this offseason to serve as a third-down back for the Rams, but he's had an extensive injury history that will always remain a concern. Since he was placed on the active version of the list, he'll be able to return to practice once cleared by a medical professional. If healthy, he should serve as a regular pass-catching threat out of the backfield on third downs.
Lance Dunbar in Danger of Missing Final Preseason Game
Lance Dunbar has missed all of training camp and every preseason game so far while rehabbing from a torn ACL and patellar tendon in his knee last October. He was finally cleared to practice back on August 21st, but the Cowboys have been taking it easy with their pass-catching RB. Dunbar will provide more value to the Cowboys than fantasy owners this season, and will likely make the team with the help of his special-teams abilities. Dunbar can also line up in the slot, and is an excellent change-of-pace, pass catching back that is perfect behind Ezekiel Elliott and Alfred Morris. Dunbar isn't a lock to make the roster, but all signs are pointing in that direction. Dunbar would have serious value if anything happened to Elliott, since he is a far superior receiver than Morris. Until then, he should be left on the waiver wire.
