The Los Angeles Chargers signed free-agent tight end Lance Kendricks on Tuesday and placed safety Adrian Phillips (arm) on Injured Reserve in a corresponding move. Kendricks has caught 241 passes for 2,505 yards and 19 touchdowns in 125 career games. He caught 19 passes for 170 yards and a touchdown last year with Green Bay, but he's merely tight end depth until Hunter Henry (knee) can return. Los Angeles is unlikely to utilize the position much with Henry out. Phillips' injury, coupled with Derwin James being out, leaves the Bolts secondary pretty vulnerable. Texans receivers DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller could go off this Sunday.
The New England Patriots waived tight end Lance Kendricks on Monday, according to a source. Kendricks was suspended for Week 1 but will now look for work elsewhere. He caught 19 passes for 170 yards and a touchdown over a full season with Green Bay in 2018. Even if Kendricks resurfaces elsewhere, he's unlikely to become a fantasy asset anytime soon. The 31-year-old hasn't scored more than twice in a single season since 2014 with the St. Louis Rams.
New England Patriots tight end Lance Kendricks has been suspended for the first game of the regular season for violating the league's policy on substances of abuse. Kendricks wasn't in line to see much work for the Pats and could be cut now, so this doesn't move the fantasy needle at all. The 31-year-old caught 19 passes for 170 yards and one score over a full season with Green Bay last year. With Benjamin Watson also suspended to begin the season, Matt LaCosse is likely to be the primary pass-catcher in Week 1, but he'll be a deep DFS sleeper, at best.
New England Patriots tight end Lance Kendricks is getting closer and closer to earning the starting tight end position. Kendricks caught one pass in the second preseason game but it was a nice 28-yard grab. The veteran has 241 and 2,505 yards in his career but failed to produce playing for the Packers Aaron Rodgers the past two seasons. The Patriots are thin at tight end with Matt LaCosse dealing with an ankle injury, Benjamin Watson suspended the first four games and future Hall of Famer Rob Gronkowski now retired. Quarterback Tom Brady loves utilizing the tight end in the passing game so Kendricks could see some targets. Despite the intriguing situation, Kendricks is expected to hit the waiver wire once fantasy drafts are done.
Lance Kendricks Catches 28-Yard Pass Against Titans
New England Patriots tight end Lance Kendricks caught his first pass as a Patriot, a 28-yard reception in the team's preseason win over the Titans. One catch normally is not significant but Kendricks is expected to play a role early on this season with starter Benjamin Watson suspended the first four games. The Patriots have enjoyed production from the tight end position for almost a decade now and Kendricks could benefit playing in New England's offensive system. This is a very small step, but a step nonetheless for Kendricks.
New England Patriots tight end Lance Kendricks was seen Wednesday exiting practice with the training staff during 11-on-11 drills. What ails the tight end at this time is unknown but he could be held out of practice for the next day or two. Not much is expected from a fantasy perspective from Kendricks this season but the Patriots will be hard-pressed to replace the production from former tight end and now-retired Rob Gronkowski. With veteran Benjamin Watson serving a four-game suspension to begin the season, Kendricks is the type of player that could help the Patriots early on. His exit from practice is not expected to sideline Kendricks for long at this time.
Green Bay Packers tight end Lance Kendricks could see an expanded role with Jimmy Graham (Thumb) still questionable for Week 12. The Packers play the Minnesota Vikings this week. Kendricks isn't a great play in normal leagues, but could have sneaky value in DFS. He only has 11 receptions this year and is averaging 10.3 yards per game. Don't expect anything crazy from Kendricks as he probably will rely on a touchdown to be fantasy relevant.
Green Bay Packers tight end Lance Kendricks saw more snaps than usual in a Week 11 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Starting tight end Jimmy Graham (thumb) left the game with an injury in the first half. It was Kendricks who primarily filled in for him. Kendricks caught two passes for 12 yards on two targets on the day. The veterans performance was respectable, but he simply does not play on an offense that utilizes the tight end. Even if Jimmy Graham were to miss time and Kendricks were to start he would not be worth starting in fantasy. Green Bay has not demonstrated that they can take a player like Kendricks and turn him into a difference maker. So outside of the most desperate of circumstances, Kendricks does not warrant a pick-up for next week.
Green Bay Packers tight end Lance Kendricks is expected to face criminal charges in the near future after marijuana was found in his car during a 2017 traffic stop. He was initially cited for marijuana possession, but prosecutors dismissed that citation last week and details about the new charges aren't immediately available. He'll certainly face discipline and a suspension from the league. Kendricks is the backup to Jimmy Graham and has just seven catches on 11 targets for 67 yards and a touchdown in six games this year. He isn't relevant in fantasy unless Graham is injured.
Green Bay Packers tight end Lance Kendricks recorded a touchdown catch in a Week 5 loss against the Detroit Lions. He caught two passes for eight yards on two targets for the day. The touchdown came on a goal line play action pass from a heavy formation. Kendricks is simply not a significant part of Green Bays offense, and his performance when he has played has been disappointing. He is safely behind Graham on the depth chart and has no clear path to getting more looks. Despite the touchdown catch making it a decent week for Kendricks, there is no reason to start or roster Kendricks going forward in any league.
