Marlon Mack Done For The Year With Torn Achilles

Arizona Cardinals running back Marlon Mack (Achilles) will miss the entire 2023 season after tearing his left Achilles in practice on Tuesday at training camp, according to head coach Jonathan Gannon. It's a tough break for Mack, who also tore his right Achilles in Week 1 of the 2020 season. There's a chance we won't see the 27-year-old back in the NFL after this latest devastating injury. Mack had recently signed with the Cardinals to add depth to an inexperienced backfield in Arizona, making this injury all the more devastating. Behind starter James Conner, the Cardinals have Keaontay Ingram, Corey Clement, Ty'Son Williams and rookie Emari Demercado on their RB depth chart.

Marlon Mack Injures Leg Tuesday

Arizona Cardinals running back Marlon Mack (leg) suffered a left leg injury during Tuesday's practice and had to be helped off the field. This was only his third practice with the team. The veteran signed with Arizona last Friday, coinciding with an injury to presumptive backup Keaontay Ingram (abdominal). Mack has an extensive injury history, including a torn Achilles in 2020 as a member of the Indianapolis Colts. Last season, the 27-year-old tallied 84 yards over eight games with San Francisco and Denver. Healthy running backs Corey Clement, Ty'Son Williams, and rookie Emari Demercado will now take reps behind starter James Conner in training camp.

Marlon Mack Has Good Day At Practice

Arizona Cardinals running back Marlon Mack reportedly had a good day at practice on Saturday. The 27-year-old, who signed with the team on Friday, has played 53 games for the Colts, 49ers, and Broncos since 2017, totaling 2,568 yards and 21 touchdowns off 583 carries. Mack appeared to have "fresh legs" while making "some physical and some long runs." However, while the update is encouraging, he'll be hard to trust even if he is on the roster come Week 1, considering he will probably be the No. 3 option on the depth chart, at best.

Cardinals Add Veteran Marlon Mack To Backfield

The Arizona Cardinals signed free-agent veteran running back Marlon Mack to an undisclosed deal on Friday and cut long-snapper Jack Coco in a corresponding move. The Cardinals added Mack to their backfield after working him out at training camp on Thursday. The 27-year-old will add more depth behind starter James Conner entering the 2023 season. He played in eight games with the Denver Broncos (six contests) and San Francisco 49ers (two games) last year and rushed 16 times for 84 yards and one touchdown, adding eight receptions for 99 yards and another score. Mack ended the 2022 campaign on Injured Reserve with a hamstring injury. He's not a lock to make the final roster in Arizona and probably won't have much of a role if he does make the team out of camp.

Cardinals Work Out Marlon Mack

The Arizona Cardinals worked out free-agent veteran running back Marlon Mack at training camp on Thursday. The Cardinals could use some more backfield depth behind starter James Conner entering the 2023 campaign, as right now all they have is Corey Clement, Keaontay Ingram, Ty'Son Williams and rookie Emari Demercado at the position. Mack finished last year on Injured Reserve with the Denver Broncos and played in eight total games with Denver and the San Francisco 49ers, seeing 16 carries for 84 yards and one touchdown. The 27-year-old also caught eight of 10 targets for 99 yards and another score. If he lands in Arizona, he'll strictly be backfield depth if he makes the final roster out of training camp.

The Carolina Panthers Trade up to No. 1 Overall - Trade Reaction

The weekend officially started with a bang as Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport dropped the first trade bombshell of the NFL offseason. The Bears decided to stick with Justin Fields as their quarterback and traded the No.1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft to the Carolina Panthers. The trade made sense for both teams. The Bears did not have their second-rounder in 2023 and the Panthers have been stuck in QB purgatory ever since Cam Newton's body began breaking down. Since 2019 the Panthers have shuffled through the likes of Kyle Allen, Will Grier, Teddy Bridgewater, P.J. Walker, Sam Darnold, and Baker Mayfield and were stuck in blatant Quarterback Purgatory. Sure they might have given up a lot, but I'm always a fan of going up to get your guy. If the pick hits it's a small price to pay for 10+ years of success. Let's break down the trade now, shall we?   Latest on the Blockbuster Bears - Panthers trade Ever since the NFL offseason began, trade rumors have swirled around the Bears trading out of the No. 1 spot being that they already had Justin Fields in the fold. The teams rumored to be in the mix were the Indianapolis Colts, Houston Texans, Las Vegas Raiders, and Carolina Panthers. This was a massive haul for the Bears who are basically just playing Madden franchise mode right now. They have the most salary cap space heading into free agency and they will have a war chest of draft picks for the next two years. Landing a veteran wide receiver in DJ Moore was great for Justin Fields and his development as well. Fields was dealt a pretty bad hand since he came into the league as he's had coaching turnover and a weak supporting cast. Now that the Bears' days of tanking appear to be over, they can finally put some solid pieces around him on offense and build their roster back up. Expect the Bears to be a big player once free agency kicks off next week where they will hopefully add some important pieces on the offensive line to help Justin Fields. Running back David Montgomery is a free agent and it is unknown if he will be back in Chicago in 2023. The good news for the Bears is Aaron Rodgers is expected to be traded from Green Bay. Rodgers has haunted the Bears for many years. Might we see a changing of the guard in the NFC North with the Bears and Lions rising up while the Packers and Vikings fade into the background after many years in the playoffs?   Who Will the Panthers Draft No. 1 Overall? The latest FanFuel sportsbook odds changed after the trade. CJ Stroud was -170 to go first overall in the draft. That number has now moved all the way down to -320, which suggests many of the talking heads around the league believe that the Panthers really like CJ Stroud. It's no secret that Panthers Owner: David Tepper has gotten tired of all the bandaid options available in the draft and wants his team to make a splash at quarterback. The betting odds are on CJ Stroud, Bryce Young, Anthony Richardson, and Will Levis. We have seen several instances in years past when four quarterbacks went in the top 10 of the NFL Draft, but we have never seen four quarterbacks go in the top seven picks before. Might what change this year? Were the Texans willing to stay put at two because they know the Panthers aren't interested in the same quarterback that they are? The NFL is continuing to become a quarterback-driven league and teams are tired of feeling like they are behind the 8-ball. If the Panthers really believe in being able to go up and get their guy then they should be applauded for having the guts to make the move. In a span of 12 months we've seen the Broncos, the Browns, and now the Panthers give up multiple first-round picks to get a quarterback. Nobody knows what the future holds, but after a wild 2022 offseason, we should expect 2023 to be no different. The NFL is king.

Marlon Mack Won't Play In Season Finale

Denver Broncos running back Marlon Mack (hamstring) will not play in the Week 18 regular season finale against the Los Angeles Chargers due to a hamstring injury that he suffered on the opening kickoff in the Week 17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, according to a source. He was officially placed on Injured Reserve on Tuesday. Mack's 66-yard touchdown on a screen pass three weeks ago shows that he's made it back, and he could be a part of the team's backfield next year. The 26-year-old won't enter the 2023 season on the fantasy radar if he stays in Denver, but he'd be valuable for depth. In eight games in 2022 (two with the Niners), Mack finished with 16 carries for 84 yards and a touchdown while adding eight catches on 10 targets for 99 yards and another score.

Marlon Mack Questionable To Return Sunday

Denver Broncos running back Marlon Mack (hamstring) is questionable to return against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 17. He returned a kick 20 yards before exiting early in the first quarter. Chase Edmonds will back up Latavius Murray in Mack's absence.

Marlon Mack Only Playable If Latavius Murray Sits

Denver Broncos running back Marlon Mack has scored in back-to-back weeks now after previously not finding the end zone since 2019 with the Indianapolis Colts. However, unless lead back Latavius Murray (foot) is limited or unable to play entirely on Christmas Day against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 16, Mack won't have standalone fantasy value. The 26-year-old running back has been more involved in recent weeks behind Murray, carrying the ball eight times for 52 yards and a touchdown while adding six receptions on seven targets for 88 yards and another score. Even if Murray is unable to play this weekend, Mack would profile as more of a touchdown-dependent RB2/3 in Denver's low-scoring offense against a Rams defense that has allowed only 104.5 rushing yards per game (fourth-fewest in NFL).

Marlon Mack Scores Another Touchdown In Week 15

Denver Broncos running back Marlon Mack scored for the second straight week in the 24-15 win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 15 on Sunday. Mack had just five carries compared to Latavius Murray's season-high 24, but he gained 37 rushing yards (7.4 yards per carry) and scored a touchdown for the second straight week. He also caught all four of his targets for 26 yards in the passing game. The 26-year-old's nine touches was a slight increase over his five from a week ago, and he should continue to be involved behind Murray in the final three games of the season. However, despite two touchdowns in the last two games, Mack won't have enough volume in this low-scoring offense to have any standalone fantasy value heading into Week 16 against the Los Angeles Rams.
