Free-agent running back Marshawn Lynch said that his agent, Doug Hendrickson, has been in talks with the Seattle Seahawks on a potential reunion. As usual, Lynch isn't expecting much and is said he'll be fine if a reunion doesn't happen. The bruising back turned 34 in April after unretiring for the second time before Week 17 of last season to help a Seahawks backfield that was decimated by injuries. Lynch had 30 carries for only 67 yards and four touchdowns in three games to close out the season. Chris Carson (hip) and Rashaad Penny (knee) are coming off season-ending injuries, so Seattle could be looking for another veteran back. Still, even if Penny isn't ready for the start of the season, the Seahawks drafted DeeJay Dallas in the fourth round, still have Travis Homer and undrafted rookies Anthony Jones and Patrick Carr. At best, Beast Mode would be a low-end, touchdown-dependent RB3/flex if he returned and injuries struck the backfield hard again.
Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch certainly gave fans a couple more moments to remember when he bashed and crashed his way into the end zone twice in Seattle's loss to Green Bay on Sunday night. The Seahawks running game wasn't very impressive by yardage, especially if Russell Wilson's scrambles were removed, but Lynch made up for it by bulldozing his way through contact and in. For a player who just rejoined the team on Christmas Eve and only played three games, Lynch's four total touchdowns were quite an accomplishment. He probably won't be back next season, but Seahawks fans will remember him forever.
Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch has given the people what they want so far, racking up touchdowns in both games since he returned to the team. Fantasy owners should consider him to be credible threat to continue the streak on Sunday as he faces a Green Bay franchise that has allowed the eighth-most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season. Between the cold, the defense's weakness against the run and strength against the pass, and the big game nature, it's a situation custom-built for Lynch. While he'll still share carries with Travis Homer, expect Lynch to get the call in those short-yardage situations that need a bruiser. He came back just for this. He'll revel in it.
Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said that he thinks running back Marshawn Lynch is ready to handle more of a workload now that he has two games under his belt. Travis Homer played 44 of 64 offensive snaps in the wild-card win over the Eagles, while Lynch played just 18. Beast Mode saw just six carries against Philadelphia, but he did score a touchdown on his seven yards. He saw 12 rush attempts in Week 17 against the 49ers and also found paydirt. It's good news for Lynch's DFS value if he'll be a bigger part of the game plan in the Divisional Round against the Packers. Green Bay is also pretty vulnerable on the ground, but most of Lynch's fantasy value will be tied to whether he can get into the end zone again.
Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch didn't put up a run worthy of decades of highlight reels again, but handshakes were all around as Lynch battered his way through a handful of defenders to plunge his way into the end zone from five yards out. The touchdown run came with just a minute left in the first half and finished off a furious two-minute charge down the field by the Seahawks. The TD allowed Seattle to take a seven-point lead into halftime, and they would never relinquish it. Lynch also made a wonderful rumbling catch-and-run for 20 yards on a key third down later in the ballgame. Lynch doesn't look like his old bruising self all the time, but he brings a bit of fun to a Seattle team whose injuries leave them looking overmatched in every game moving forward.
Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch returned last week to much fanfare. He even found his way into the end zone. But the veteran who was unsigned two weeks ago will now face an Eagles Defense that is 7th in the league in fantasy points allowed to running backs. What's worse for Lynch is that most of those points come through the air. Over the last nine games, the Eagles have held six teams to under 67 yards rushing. The Seahawks are the only team in that time frame to rush for over 100 yards, but they were much healthier then. With left tackle Duane Brown out for Sunday's game, Lynch will need to find the end zone to have any fantasy value.
Suiting up once again for the Seattle Seahawks, running back Marshawn Lynch gave the home crowd what they wanted when he took a flying leap into the end zone early in the fourth quarter. Lynch delivered from one yard out, helping close the gap and giving Seattle a chance to come back. Beast Mode wasn't overly impressive for the majority of the game, averaging just 2.8 YPC, but after taking more than a year off, some rust was expected. Rookie running back Travis Homer put up a strong performance in his first start, and the two will likely share the load for as long as the team's playoff train stays alive.
Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch hasn't played since last season, but NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says that Lynch should get between 10 and 15 carries in Sunday's contest against the San Francisco 49ers. The Niners have a strong defense and should make it tough for Lynch to breakout in his return game, but with this being one of the games that's going to have meaning regardless of the rest of the results on Sunday, Lynch is a fairly safe fantasy option since we know that he'll be on the field. Even with the long layover and the tough matchup, consider him an RB2.
The Seahawks and running back Marshawn Lynch have agreed to a deal that will bring the 33-year-old back to Seattle at least until the end of the year, which also includes the postseason. Lynch saw the field in six games last season as a member of the Oakland Raiders and finished with 376 yards, and three touchdowns on 90 carries in addition to 15 catches for 84 yards. The move comes after the team suffered the season-ending losses of Chris Carson (hip), C.J. Prosise (arm), and Rashaad Penny (knee). In a corresponding move, the team also signed Robert Turbin, who spent three seasons in Seattle earlier in his career before making stops in Cleveland, Dallas, and Indianapolis. Travis Homer, who had 16 yards on five attempts to go along with six catches for 26 yards after Carson's premature exit in Week 16, remains the No. 1 back, with Lynch and Turbin listed behind him on the depth chart--at least for now.
The Seattle Seahawks and running back Marshawn Lynch are open to a reunion, and Lynch has told people that he plans to meet with the team on Monday, according to sources. The Seahawks lost running backs Chris Carson (hip) and C.J. Prosise (arm) to season-ending injuries in Week 16, and Rashaad Penny (knee) tore his ACL two weeks ago, leaving sixth-round rookie Travis Homer as the leader of this back field right now. Seattle is also considering Robert Turbin and C.J. Anderson, and they could add two backs this week with an important Week 17 game against the 49ers upcoming. Beast Mode has quite the history in Seattle, but it's impossible to predict how much he'd be used in Week 17 and beyond after such a long layoff. Stay tuned.
