Peyton Barber Active, Jalen Richard Inactive

Las Vegas Raiders running back Peyton Barber has been a healthy scratch since Week 4, but the Raiders are making him active this week and making running back Jalen Richard (ribs) inactive. It's an interesting development, but there won't be more than a smattering of snaps available for Barber behind both Josh Jacobs and Kenyan Drake, so don't let this decision change anything about the makeup of your fantasy lineups.

Peyton Barber A Healthy Scratch Again

Las Vegas Raiders running back Peyton Barber is a healthy scratch once again, making this the third week in a row that Barber won't be in the lineup. He's clearly only on this roster to be an emergency play if either Josh Jacobs or Kenyan Drake are injured. The Raiders will also be without tight end Darren Waller (ankle), who has been the focal point of this offense. Without him, Drake could see some more usage in the short passing game, booting his value a bit and making him a decent deep-league play.

Peyton Barber A Healthy Scratch

Las Vegas Raiders running back Peyton Barber is a healthy scratch for Sunday's game against the Broncos. The veteran back had 23 carries for 111 yards and a touchdown in Week 3, but he has just one touch since. With Josh Jacobs and Kenyan Drake healthy, Barber is nothing more than an emergency option for this team, and he's unlikely to even be active unless one of those two is out. He can be dropped in redraft leagues.

Peyton Barber - Week 6 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Las Vegas Raiders running back Peyton Barber is expected to return in Week 6 as his team visits the Denver Broncos. The 27-year-old missed Week 5's loss to the Chicago Bears due to turf toe but was a full participant at practices this week ahead of the trip to Denver. Barber initially became the Raiders go-to running back when Josh Jacobs was sidelined for a few games, but it's unclear how much work he will get this weekend with Jacobs' status questionable due to illness and with Kenyan Drake and Jalen Richard already in the mix. Even if Barber finds a way to regain a spot on the depth chart behind Jacobs, he's not going to have enough work against the Broncos to have a decent fantasy impact this weekend.

Peyton Barber On Track To Return Against Denver

Las Vegas Raiders running back Peyton Barber (toe) returned to a full practice after missing the Week 5 loss to the Chicago Bears with a minor case of turf toe. Barber was the better fantasy back over pass-catching Kenyan Drake when Josh Jacobs missed a few games early on, but Jacobs has moved past his injury concerns and saw a much bigger share of the workload last weekend. Jacobs saw all but two of the carries and all but two of the RB targets with Drake and Jalen Richard involved versus Chicago. Barber could still be involved in short-yardage situations behind Jacobs, but he's unlikely to see nearly enough touches to have standalone fantasy value against the Broncos this Sunday.

Peyton Barber Questionable For Week 5

Las Vegas Raiders running back Peyton Barber (toe) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears. He returned to practice Friday as a limited participant after Monday's loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4 with a toe injury. The 27-year-old is dealing with mild turf toe but could play in Sunday's game. Barber played well when Josh Jacobs (ankle) was sidelined for Week 2 and 3, rushing for 143 yards on 36 attempts and a touchdown. Jacobs returned to action in Week 4; Barber is not expected to see many touches going forward but is worth stashing in deep-league formats. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor the situation, but Barber isn't on the fantasy radar in Week 5 with Jacobs and Kenyan Drake active.

Peyton Barber Dealing With Mild Turf Toe

Las Vegas Raiders running back Peyton Barber (toe) was diagnosed with mild turf toe, according to sources. Barber didn't suffer a fracture and is seeking more opinions, but it sounds like he could be out for a few weeks. In the Monday night loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4, Barber returned one kick and had only one carry for zero yards after injuring his toe. The 27-year-old was impressive and looked better than Kenyan Drake as the early down and short-yardage back the last two weeks when Josh Jacobs was sidelined. Barber may still be worth stashing if you're hurting at the running back position, but as long as Jacobs is healthy, it's tough to see him getting enough looks on a weekly basis to have standalone fantasy value. Drake could see more opportunities behind Jacobs in the coming weeks, especially since Jacobs has looked sluggish in his two games this year.

Peyton Barber Questionable To Return Monday Night

Las Vegas Raiders running back Peyton Barber (foot) is listed as questionable to return on Monday night against the Los Angeles Chargers with a foot injury. Barber didn't have an official carry or target before his injury. Josh Jacobs (ankle) is back in the fold after a two-game absence despite the fact that he told reporters his ankle didn't feel that great during pre-game warmups. Late in the first quarter, Jacobs is the only Raiders back to touch the football, carrying the ball twice for just three yards. If Barber is unable to return, Jacobs and Kenyan Drake should share backfield touches, much like they did in the season opener in Week 1. Barber won't really be playable in fantasy starting lineups if Jacobs is healthy.

Peyton Barber's Value Depends On Josh Jacobs' Status

Las Vegas Raiders running back Peyton Barber could have a bigger role for the team as they prep for their Monday night matchup against the host Los Angeles Chargers. The 27-year-old Auburn product has taken full advantage of Josh Jacob's absence and has leapfrogged Kenyan Drake on Vegas' depth chart to take over the ground game. Head coach Jon Gruden even told reporters he's "not going to hesitate to put him in a primary role" after Barber logged 23 carries for 111 yards and a touchdown and had three receptions on five targets for 31 yards. Barber was previously only a good option to play in deeper leagues but now has sleeper potential and is worth starting if Jacobs remains out in Week 4.

Peyton Barber Heading For Expanded Role

Las Vegas Raiders running back Peyton Barber could see an expanded role against the Steelers in Week 2 after starter Josh Jacobs (toe, ankle) was ruled out ahead of time. While Kenyan Drake is the next man up, the growing expectation is that Barber, too, will see a significant workload. While speaking to the media on Friday, head coach Jon Gruden offered a glowing report on Barber and said that he is "excited about this opportunity to see what we have." The five-year veteran spent four seasons in Tampa Bay before joining the Washington Football Team in 2020. Through 16 games (two starts) in Washington, he accrued 94 touches for 258 yards and four scores. In Week 2, Barber is a risky option and only worth considering in deeper leagues. Depending on how many touches he gets, the 27-year-old might need to score in order to be worth starting.
