Sean McKeon News
The New England Patriots quietly brought in free-agent tight ends Brycen Hopkins, Sean McKeon and Mitchell Wilcox in for workouts late last week, which could reflect on their desire to add another layer to the tight end depth chart of Hunter Henry, Austin Hooper and La'Michael Pettway. Hopkins has only 13 receptions on 19 targets for 196 yards and no touchdowns in his four NFL seasons with the Los Angeles Rams. McKeon ended the 2023 season on Injured Reserve due to an ankle injury and has only six catches on 11 targets for 38 yards and one touchdown in his four NFL seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. Wilcox has 29 catches on 35 targets for 211 yards and one touchdowns in his three years with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Dallas Cowboys tight end Sean McKeon has made his biggest impact on special teams the last two years, but his offensive opportunities should increase in Year 3. He was on the field for 119 offensive snaps in 2021, catching four passes for 27 yards and one touchdown. McKeon was part of quarterback Dak Prescott's small group of skill position players to work out on their own in Miami recently, and if he can earn Prescott's trust, there should be more targets coming his way this year and in 2023. The 24-year-old didn't see any targets in his rookie season in 2020, and he's unlikely to have any fantasy relevance unless Dalton Schultz misses time with an injury. McKeon and rookie Jake Ferguson will be battling for No. 2 duties in training camp.
Dallas Cowboys tight end Sean McKeon scored his first touchdown of the season in a Week 12 overtime loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. McKeon made his only target count, catching a 10-yard pass from quarterback Dak Prescott for a first quarter touchdown. This was McKeon's fourth game of the season, and he's made a total of four catches for 27 yards. He's the backup tight end behind Dalton Schultz and is used more for his blocking than for any passing plays. He may come down with a score now and then, but his role is nowhere near large enough to merit fantasy consideration.
