Pittsburgh Steelers running back Stevan Ridley saw just five touches in Week 14, despite James Conner being inactive with a knee injury. He was able to salvage his afternoon with a short touchdown but the Week 14 game plan showed that the Steelers plan to feature Jaylen Samuels, not Ridley, while Conner is injured. Ridley should continue to see goal line and short yardage work but he won't be useful in fantasy unless he scores. Ridley should be treated as a touchdown-or-bust desperation flex in the fantasy semifinals this weekend.
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Stevan Ridley carried the ball five times for four yards and a touchdown in his team's 24-21 loss to the Oakland Raiders in Week 14. Ridley was not a factor in the passing game but he was called upon to punch in a two-yard score in the second quarter. While Ridley won't see a majority of the backfield work while James Conner is out, he does hold some low-end value as the team's preferred goal-line back. He should remain involved in Week 15 against the New England Patriots.
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Stevan Ridley, who is six years removed from his first and only 1,000-yard season of his career, is ready for a larger role in Week 14 against the Raiders with James Conner (ankle) out. Ridley had his 1,000-yard campaign in 2012 and hasn't had more than 340 rushing yards in a season since. He has only 18 carries for 56 yards in 2018, but he's expected to have a bigger role alongside Jaylen Samuels this Sunday. Ridley, Samuels and Trey Edmunds all got first-team repetitions in practice on Wednesday. Samuels expects to make his first career start, but Ridley will play a big role as well, as Samuels has never been a featured back. The Steelers may be looking to ride the hot hand here, so Ridley might be worth a flex play in deeper leagues in a great matchup.
The Pittsburgh Steelers will be without running back James Conner in Week 14, which means they are expected to turn to a committee featuring Stevan Ridley and Jaylen Samuels. While Samuels has more upside based on his skills in the passing game, Ridley is on the map as a low-end flex play in Week 14. Ridley isn't likely to see much work in the passing game but he could see some work as the team's goal-line back against the Oakland Raiders. Oakland represents a plus matchup for running backs, ranking 31st in run defense DVOA and allowing the sixth-most fantasy points per game to the position.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have agreed to bring back running back Stevan Ridley on a one-year deal. Ridley was signed as depth last December after James Conner was lost for the season with a knee injury. He played well in Week 17, rushing for 80 yards and a score against the Cleveland Browns. Ridley showed promise when he began his NFL career with the New England Patriots in 2011 but has since bounced around the league. The Steelers are his eighth NFL team. Ridley will have next to no fantasy value unless something happens to both Le'Veon Bell and Conner in 2018.
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Stevan Ridley turned in a big game in place of starter Le'Veon Bell in Week 17 against the Cleveland Browns. Ridley carried the ball 17 times for 80 yards and a touchdown, his first NFL touchdown since 2014 when he was with the New England Patriots. Ridley, like usual, was a non-factor in the passing game but he certainly put a hurting on a Cleveland run defense that had been a solid unit all season. Ridley will now return to the bench as the Steelers get set to play in the divisional round of the playoffs in two weeks.
Stevan Ridley Likely To Lead Steelers In Week 17 Carries
With the Pittsburgh Steelers opting to rest running back Le'Veon Bell in Week 17, Stevan Ridley is expected to see a big uptick in carries against the Cleveland Browns. Ridley just signed with the Steelers on December 19 to serve as backfield depth. While it isn't clear how he and Fitzgerald Toussaint will split carries, it's worth noting that Ridley out-touched Toussaint 9-0 in mop-up duty against the Houston Texans in Week 16. Ridley will be a volume-based RB3/flex option in Week 17 and sets up as an excellent value in daily leagues, as well.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed running back Stevan Ridley to take the place of the injured James Conner(knee), whowas placed onInjured Reserve on Tuesday. Ridley started his career with the New England Patriots but has bounced around the league for the past few seasons. He hasn't played in the NFL since 2016, when he handled three carries for the Atlanta Falcons. Ridley will serve as depth behind starting running back Le'Veon Bell. If something were to happen to Bell, Ridley and Fitzgerald Toussaint would presumably split backfield work for Pittsburgh.
The Minnesota Vikings signed free-agent running back Stevan Ridley on Thursday and placed rookie Dalvin Cook (knee) on Injured Reserve. Ridley, a former third-round pick of the Patriots, most recently spent time with the Broncos in training camp but was released during final cuts. He played in one game with the Falcons in 2016 and eight games with the Jets in 2015. He's best known for his 1,263-yard season with 12 touchdowns for New England in 2012, but he'll mainly just serve as depth for the Vikings backfield. You can ignore him for now.
Stevan Ridley and Juwan Thompson Do Not Make The Broncos Roster
The Denver Broncos cut running back Stevan Ridley and waived running back Juwan ThompsonĀ on Friday. They need to catch on with another team to have any value. However, Denver's decision not to keep either of them needs to be tempered with the knowledge that the Broncos were loaded with four running backs they loved. Also interesting to note that Thompson is out of options for Practice Squads so he would need to be able to make his new team's 53-player roster.
