Tashaun Gipson Sr. News
Free-agent safety Tashaun Gipson Sr. was handed a six-game suspension by the NFL last week, and although the veteran is not expected to appeal the punishment, he is looking to play in 2024. "During this offseason, I took a supplement one time, which I thought to be completely safe and well within any of the NFL's policies," Gipson wrote in a statement. "It was in no way related to performance, training, or gaining an advantage of any kind at any time. It is with great disappointment that I accept this suspension, and I do so knowing that I have never even attempted to cheat the game. I look forward to returning for my 13th NFL season and helping a team compete for a championship." Gipson, who has played in 173 NFL games, may have to wait a while to find a home, as the safety market has been stagnant this offseason.

Tashaun Gipson Sr. Receives Six-Game Suspension
The NFL issued a six-game suspension to free-agent safety Tashaun Gipson Sr. on Tuesday, according to NFL insider Ari Meirov. The cause for the suspension is unclear, but it will make his path toward finding a landing spot tougher as the 2024 season rapidly approaches. The 33-year-old has played in 173 career games for the Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans, Chicago Bears, and San Francisco 49ers and has racked up 684 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 33 interceptions, 67 pass deflections, and one forced fumble. He started for the 49ers in February's Super Bowl LVIII loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Tashaun Gipson Heading Back To The 49ers
Safety Tashaun Gipson is returning to the 49ers, agreeing to a one-year, $2.9 million deal on Sunday. The 32-year-old played for the Browns, Jaguars, Texans, and Bears before landing in San Francisco for the 2022-23 campaign. He started all 17 games, ending the year with 61 total tackles and five interceptions. Nevertheless, although Gipson had some solid showings last season, he has a way to go before earning a routine spot on IDP rosters in 2023-24.

49ers Release Tashaun Gipson
The San Francisco 49ers released veteran safety Tashaun Gipson on Tuesday, according to a source. Gipson signed a one-year deal with the Niners just a week ago, but he won't make it onto the initial 53-man roster. The 32-year-old operated as a starter for the Chicago Bears the last two years, putting up 81 solo tackles, one sack, four interceptions, 10 passes defensed and two fumble recoveries in 28 games started. He was a Pro Bowler back in 2014 with the Cleveland Browns, and Gipson has recorded a healthy 563 tackles (408 solo), 27 interceptions (three for touchdowns) and 57 passes defensed in his 10 NFL seasons with four different teams. There's a good chance he'll latch on elsewhere as secondary depth.

The San Francisco 49ers signed veteran free-agent safety Tashaun Gipson to an undisclosed deal on Monday, according to a source. The 32-year-old was a Pro Bowler back in 2014 with the Cleveland Browns, and he has 563 career tackles (408 solo), one sack, 14 tackles for loss, five QB hits, 27 interceptions (three for touchdowns), 57 passes defensed, one forced fumble and three fumble recoveries in 140 games (132 starts) with the Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans and Bears. Bears Signing Tashaun Gipson
The Chicago Bears are signing safety Tashaun Gipson to an undisclosed one-year deal on Thursday, according to a source. Gipson was cut by the Texans this week, a year after he was signed to a three-year, $22.5 million deal. He went on Injured Reserve late last season with a back injury after starting the first 14 games. The 29-year-old has 450 tackles, 23 interceptions and 47 passes defensed in his eight seasons in the NFL, and he's spent time with the Browns, Jaguars and Texans. While Gipson doesn't move the needle much in IDP leagues, he'll likely start alongside Eddie Jackson in Chicago. He had 51 tackles (37 solo), three interceptions (one for a TD) and eight passes defensed for Houston last year.

Tashaun Gipson Questionable For Sunday
Jacksonville Jaguars safety Tashaun Gipson (foot) is listed as questionable for the AFC title game against the Patriots, but he said earlier this week that he expects to play. Gipson missed practice on both Wednesday and Thursday, but he was able to practice Friday, giving him hope that he can play on Sunday. Gipson being inactive would weaken Jacksonville's elite secondary against quarterback Tom Brady and the Pats. Gipson hasn't missed a game since joining the Jaguars last season.
