The Kansas City Chiefs are signing free-agent safety Will Parks to a one-year deal worth up to $1.13 million on Wednesday, according to a source. Parks took a visit with the Detroit Lions as well, but he is choosing the Chiefs. He started his career as a safety and was taken in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL draft by the Denver Broncos. Parks spent the first four seasons of his career as a rotational safety before joining the Philadelphia Eagles last spring. But he was waived in December and rejoined Denver to play in nickel situations for the final four games of the season. In 10 games between the Eagles and Broncos in 2020, the 26-year-old had 31 tackles (three for loss) and a sack. It's likely the Chiefs will view him as more of cornerback depth at this point in his career.
The Denver Broncos claimed defensive back Will Parks off waivers from the Eagles on Wednesday, according to a source. Parks signed a one-year deal with Philadelphia in the offseason and was expected to replace Malcolm Jenkins at safety, but he failed to make an impact in six games (three starts), recording just 13 tackles. He'll reunite with the Broncos, who drafted him in the sixth round out of Arizona back in 2016. Parks had four interceptions, 13 passes defensed and 104 solo tackles in his four seasons with the Broncos. He'll provide depth for a young and inexperienced secondary, but the Broncos Defense remains off the fantasy radar for a Week 13 divisional matchup against the high-flying offense of the Chiefs.
The Philadelphia Eagles released safety Will Parks on Tuesday, according to a source. Parks had signed a one-year contract with the Eagles in the offseason and was supposed to replace Malcolm Jenkins in the secondary while moving around to other positions as well. The 26-year-old missed the first five games of the season with a hamstring injury that landed him on Injured Reserve. He played a season-high 72 percent of the defensive snaps in the Monday night loss to the Seahawks but started only three of his six games played in 2020. Parks had just 13 tackles (11 solo) for the Eagles and will look to latch on with another team as secondary depth. Philly's defense has another really bad matchup in Week 13 against the high-octane Packers offense. Fantasy managers should be looking to avoid them for that game.
Philadelphia Eagles defensive back Will Parks (hamstring) suffered a hamstring injury that is expected to keep him out for four to six weeks, according to a source. Parks has been a quick healer in the past, so he could beat that timetable and make it back sooner. The safety was expected to help replace Malcolm Jenkins in Philly's secondary, but that'll have to wait now. The 26-year-old can also work at nickel defensive back and linebacker, so he gives the Eagles options on defense. Rodney McLeod and Jalen Mills figure to open the season as the team's starting safeties. Darius Slay should help shore up the team's secondary, and with a strong defensive line, the Eagles Defense is at least in the picture as a low-end starting defensive unit in fantasy.
