The San Francisco 49ers elevated wide receiver Willie Snead IV and linebacker Curtis Robinson from the practice squad to the active 53-man roster to be available for Sunday's NFC Championship game against the Detroit Lions. Robinson likely has a better chance of being active with linebacker Oren Burks (shoulder) listed as questionable to play and with offensive tackle Kalia Davis (ankle) already ruled out. The 49ers re-signed Snead to their practice squad at the end of December. The 31-year-old veteran wideout hasn't been active for a game this year since Week 16 against the Baltimore Ravens. He played in four total games during the regular season and caught just two of his three targets for 14 yards. If Snead is active against Detroit, he probably won't see the field much, if at all.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Willie Snead IV has been elevated from the practice squad ahead of the Week 10 matchup versus the Jacksonville Jaguars. The veteran wideout has made two appearances for the 49ers this season. During that span, Snead has been held to one catch for nine yards in 2023. He is mainly being elevated as depth for the 49ers. It's unlikely that Snead sees heavy involvement in the offense. That being said, fantasy managers can avoid Snead ahead of this Week 10 matchup.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Willie Snead IV has been promoted to the active roster on Saturday. This news comes with wideouts Jauan Jennings (shin) and Deebo Samuel (knee, ribs) both uncertain to play. That being said, Snead could end up seeing some playing time if one of both of these receivers are sidelined. The 30-year-old was with the 49ers last season, so he is familiar with the system. Despite that, it's unlikely that Snead has much if any fantasy value for this Week 4 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Willie Snead IV has been elevated to the active roster ahead of the Week 8 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. This doesn't come as a surprise with Deebo Samuel (hamstring) out and Jauan Jennings (hamstring) listed as questionable for this contest. The 30-year-old has seen success in the past, but Snead hasn't caught a pass this season. That being said, he won't be a recommended fantasy option in any formats. The 49ers have other options on offense, so it's unlikely that Snead gets heavily involved.
49ers Promote Willie Snead IV, Tevin Coleman To Active Roster
The San Francisco 49ers promoted wide receivers Willie Snead IV and Malik Turner and running back Tevin Coleman from the practice squad to the active roster for Monday night's game against the division-rival Los Angeles Rams. Snead and Turner will be battling for a depth role among the likes of Jauan Jennings and Ray-Ray McCloud behind Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk on Monday night. Meanwhile, Coleman will provide depth to a banged-up Niners backfield with Elijah Mitchell (knee) on Injured Reserve and rookie Tyrion Davis-Price (ankle) out for another week. Jeff Wilson Jr. will remain the team's primary back against the Rams, with rookie Jordan Mason and Marlon Mack behind him.
The San Francisco 49ers signed wide receiver Willie Snead to their practice squad on Wednesday. Snead will return to the team's practice squad after he was released by the team at the beginning of August. The 29-year-old veteran pass-catcher played in nine games with the Carolina Panthers and Las Vegas Raiders in 2021, catching only four of eight targets for 38 scoreless yards. Snead will merely be serving as wideout depth in San Francisco behind Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings, rookie Danny Gray and Ray-Ray McCloud III. He's well off the fantasy radar.
Free-agent wide receiver Willie Snead IV inked a one-year deal with the 49ers. The 29-year-old has suited up for regular season snaps in New Orleans, Baltimore, Las Vegas, and Carolina since 2015. During that span, he's compiled 3,431 yards and 16 touchdowns off 279 catches. Although Snead will be behind Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings, and Danny Gray on the depth chart, he could see some looks from Trey Lance if someone gets injured within the receiving corps. As a result, he has streaming potential in 2022-23.
The San Francisco 49ers have agreed to a deal with wide receiver Willie Snead. The 29-year-old played in seven games last season between two teams. He hasn't made much an impact on the field in a few seasons. He's a decent addition as depth, but fantasy managers shouldn't expect him to make much of an impact. Snead hauled in 33 receptions for 432 yards and three touchdowns with the Baltimore Ravens in 2020. He won't be someone worth looking at in fantasy leagues unless the 49ers lose a few receivers due to injury.
Willie Snead IV Lands With Panthers Practice Squad
The Carolina Panthers signed former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Willie Snead IV to their practice squad on Wednesday, according to a source. Snead was released by Las Vegas on Tuesday and quickly finds a home. The Panthers also added former New York Jets second-round receiver Devin Smith to the practice squad on Wednesday. Rookie wideout Terrace Marshall Jr. (concussion) is in danger of missing another game in Week 8 against the Atlanta Falcons, but Snead and Smith will just be providing receiving depth behind D.J. Moore, Robby Anderson, rookie Shi Smith and Alex Erickson. Snead can continue to be ignored in all fantasy formats.
The Las Vegas Raiders released wide receiver Willie Snead IV on Tuesday. Snead "wasn't playing much and asked for the release," according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus. The 29-year-old pass-catcher caught just three of five targets for 32 yards in his seven games with the Raiders this year, with his 15% of the offensive snaps in the Week 7 win over the Philadelphia Eagles being his highest percentage of snaps in 2021. Snead could latch on with another team's practice squad or as depth on an active roster, but he's highly unlikely to become a major contributor elsewhere. The Raiders will continue to use Hunter Renfrow, Henry Ruggs III and Bryan Edwards as their top three receivers after their bye in Week 8.
