The Arizona Coyotes have terminated the contract of forward Alex Galchenyuk. The news comes after it was revealed that Galchenyuk is facing charges from a July 9 arrest that include private property hit and run, disorderly conduct, failure to obey, resisting arrest, and threatening or intimidating. Galchenyuk had just signed a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000 with the Coyotes as a free agent on July 1. The 29-year-old has posted 146 goals and 354 points in 654 career NHL games, but Galchenyuk has struggled to perform for multiple seasons now, skating for seven teams in the past six campaigns. He made 11 appearances with Colorado in 2022-23, finishing without a single point.
Arizona Coyotes center Alex Galchenyuk draws back into the lineup on Friday night thanks to an injury to Johan Larsson. Galchenyuk will be in the bottom-six once more. The center had two or more shots on goal in four consecutive appearances. Then, against the Winnipeg Jets, he seemed to lose focus again with no shots in 10:07. He looked as if the forward was just going through the motions. Galchenyuk then became a healthy scratch for the Minnesota game. He has just 15 shots through nine games and needs to make an impression soon for Arizona.
Alex Galchenyuk Draws Back Into The Lineup Friday Night
Arizona Coyotes forward Alex Galchenyuk will be back on the ice in Friday's matchup against Vegas, replacing Johan Larsson (lower body) in the lineup. The enigmatic forward sat out Tuesday's 5-2 loss to Minnesota as a healthy scratch. Galchenyuk hasn't done much for the team this season, logging two assists with 15 shots in nine appearances. He entered the lineup as a top-six forward last month but has now been skating on the fourth line in his most recent outings. The 27-year-old will likely be back there again, with Larsson having been the fourth-line center.
Arizona Coyotes forward Alex Galchenyuk inked a one-year, $750,000 contract to make a return to the Desert on Wednesday. The 27-year-old, who posted 41 points in 72 games with the club in 2018-2019, was previously on a PTO with the Coyotes. Despite having registered 108 goals in 418 career NHL games, including 30 with Montreal in 2015-2016, he has now played with six different teams over the past four seasons. It will be interesting to see if Galchenyuk can carve out and cement a role in the Yotes top-six forward group in 2021-2022, but until then, he'll likely remain as a rare streamer in very deep fantasy formats.
Carolina Hurricanes forward Alex Galchenyuk was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday, with forward Egor Korshkov and defenseman David Warsofsky heading in the opposite direction. Galchenyuk is joining his seventh NHL team just 48 hours after the Hurricanes acquired him from the Ottawa Senators. Carolina waived him straight away and Galchenyuk will simply be a depth piece for the Leafs as well. Korshkov scored in his NHL debut last season but featured just once for Toronto and he is spending this season in the KHL. The 25-year-old has collected 31 points in 53 regular-season games for Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, so he seems to have some upside. Warsofsky is a 30-year-old journeyman, who has spent most of his career in the AHL and he isn't fantasy relevant.
The Ottawa Senators traded forward Alex Galchenyuk (along with forward Cedric Paquette) to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for forward Ryan Dzingel on Saturday. The 27-year-old, who signed with the Sens as a free-agent this past offseason, had posted just one goal and a minus-six rating in eight games in Ottawa this season. Despite possessing great talent, Galchenyuk is now onto his sixth NHL team in the past four seasons. Unless Carolina sees something his previous clubs have not, it would be hard to recommend the American-born forward as a legitimate fantasy option in 2020-2021.
Ottawa Senators forward Alex Galchenyuk will re-enter the lineup on Monday after sitting out Saturday's 6-3 loss to Winnipeg. Galchenyuk had one goal and five shots in two matchups versus the Jets before getting scratched by head coach D.J. Smith for the third game last week. The former 30-goal scorer has seen his fantasy value drop like a rock in recent years, and he isn't in a great spot in Ottawa either. Fantasy managers should ignore him unless he starts moving up the lineup, which looks very unlikely right now. He'll replace Cedric Paquette (upper body) on the fourth line.
