Seth Jarvis Inks Eight-Year Extension With Hurricanes

Carolina Hurricanes forward Seth Jarvis has signed an eight-year extension. The two parties came to an agreement on a $63.2 million pact. Jarvis was a restricted free agent. The 22-year-old cashes in on a big season. After amassing 79 points (31 goals, 48 assists) in his first two NHL campaigns, Jarvis notched 33 goals and 67 points in 81 outings last season. He added a team-best five goals and four assists in 11 playoff games. The Winnipeg-born forward still has a lot of room to grow as a player, and barring any injuries, Jarvis could get close to being a point-per-game player in 2024-25.

Jesper Fast Expected To Miss Entire Season

Carolina Hurricanes right wing Jesper Fast is expected to miss the entire 2024-25 campaign after having neck surgery. Fast injured his neck in April in the team's 2023-24 regular-season finale. The speedy winger made 73 appearances with the Hurricanes last season, contributing six goals and 13 assists. He signed a two-year, $4.8 million contract with Carolina last offseason. Fast has had a solid career as a bottom-six forward, posting 248 points (91 goals, 157 assists) in 703 career games. His absence will give some of the Hurricanes' youngsters a chance to make the team.

Martin Necas Re-Ups With Hurricanes For Two Years

Carolina Hurricanes forward Martin Necas has agreed to a two-year, $13 million deal with the team. He boasts 97 goals and 243 points in 362 career games. The Czech forward has been a good fit in Raleigh and, at 25 years of age, is still far from a finished article.

Canadiens And Flyers Named Among Martin Necas' Suitors

Carolina Hurricanes forward Martin Necas will have no issues landing a new job if he decides to leave Raleigh in the offseason. NHL insider Pierre LeBrun has reported that half of the NHL is interested in Necas' services, including the Montreal Canadiens and Philadelphia Flyers. Necas has completed a two-year, $6 million deal and will be a restricted free agent in the summer. Multiple reports have suggested that he won't sign an extension with the Hurricanes. Necas, who just won the 2024 World Championship with Czechia, had a down year in 2023-24 with 53 points (24 goals, 29 assists) in 77 games. A move elsewhere could give him a new lease of life.

Sebastian Aho Notches Two Points In Game 6 Loss

Carolina Hurricanes center Sebastian Aho led the charge in Game 6 against the Rangers on Thursday, but his efforts weren't enough as the team got dumped out of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs with a 5-3 defeat. Aho recorded a power-play helper when Seth Jarvis scored early in the second period, and he put the Hurricanes 3-1 up in the middle of the frame. However, the Rangers roared back with four third-period goals, meaning Aho's 2024 postseason ends with 12 points (four goals, eight assists) in 11 games. He can be happy about his contributions after also enjoying a career year with 89 points (36 goals, 53 assists) in 78 games during the regular season. With him turning only 27 in the summer, Aho looks set to be a top-tier fantasy asset for years to come.
