In 38 appearances this season, Carrier has recorded 10 points (five goals, five assists), 45 shots, and a team-high 91 hits. Jesperi Kotkaniemi has returned to the lineup during Carrier's absence and contributed one assist in Thursday's 9-1 victory over the Florida Panthers. Shayne Gostisbehere Remains Out Saturday

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere (lower body) is expected to remain out of Saturday's game against the New Jersey Devils, Mike Morreale of NHL.com reports. The veteran blue-liner has been dealing with an illness this week and missed Friday's blowout win over the Florida Panthers due to a lower-body injury. Jaccob Slavin rejoined the lineup on Friday, going plus-one in 17:56 of ice time but not registering any other significant stats. At the same time, Alexander Nikishin had a big game as Gostisbehere's replacement on the first power-play unit, finishing with a goal and an assist. On Saturday, Nikishin will be in a prime spot to make a big impact again, as New Jersey holds a 76.7 percent power play.

Shayne Gostisbehere Out Friday

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere (illness) won't be in the lineup on Friday against the Florida Panthers. The 32-year-old is battling an illness, with his absence leaving the Hurricanes without their highest-scoring defenseman. It has been a fantastic year for Gostisbehere, who boasts 32 points (six goals, 26 assists) through 35 appearances. Jaccob Slavin, who was scratched for Tuesday's 3-0 loss to the St. Louis Blues for load management, is expected to play instead of Gostisbehere. Meanwhile, Alexander Nikishin could land on the first power-play unit.

Jaccob Slavin Returns Against Kraken

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin (upper body) was activated from Injured Reserve and will end a 10-game absence on Saturday night against the Seattle Kraken. Overall, Slavin has appeared in only five games this season due to health issues. Slavin was paired with Jalen Chatfield during the morning skate, and he will also have a role on the penalty kill. Joel Nystrom will make room for Slavin in the lineup and has been reassigned to the AHL. While Slavin strengthens the Hurricanes' blue line with his experience and steady play, he offers little in terms of fantasy production.

Seth Jarvis Back for Hurricanes Tuesday

Carolina Hurricanes winger Seth Jarvis (upper body) will return from an eight-game absence on Tuesday against the Dallas Stars. He will re-enter the lineup on the third line, skating with Jordan Martinook and Jordan Staal. Additionally, Jarvis will work on the first power-play unit. Getting Jarvis back is a big boost for the Hurricanes, as he leads the team with 19 goals. Across 34 outings, Jarvis has also contributed 10 assists. He makes his return in a favorable matchup against a team that allowed three-plus goals in seven of its last eight games.

Sebastian Aho Records Season-High Five Points Thursday

Carolina Hurricanes center Sebastian Aho welcomed 2026 with mixed emotions on Thursday, bagging a season-high five points in a matchup against the Montreal Canadiens but ending up on the losing side. Aho finished the contest with two goals and three assists, but Carolina blew a 4-2 lead to lose 7-5. The Finnish forward had two power-play points during his second career five-point outing. After a couple of rough weeks in December, Aho has put together a string of impressive performances, totaling seven goals and 14 points over his last eight appearances. Shayne Gostisbehere Misses Third Consecutive Game Thursday

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere (groin) will remain sidelined for Thursday's tilt against the Montreal Canadiens, missing a third consecutive game. The in-form veteran, who has tallied 29 points (four goals, 25 assists) in 28 appearances this season, recently suffered a groin injury. Gostisbehere's injury has opened the door for Joel Nystrom to play regularly. While Nystrom hasn't scored with 36 shots this season, he collected his seventh assist in Tuesday's 5-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. The rest of the defensive group is taking on increased responsibilities as well, with Jaccob Slavin (upper body) also sidelined.

Pyotr Kochetkov Likely Done for the Season

Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov (lower body) is "probably out for the year," head coach Rod Brind'Amour said Monday. He is set to undergo lower-body surgery, and Carolina placed Kochetkov on Injured Reserve ahead of Monday's clash against the New York Rangers. The Russian netminder also missed time at the start of the campaign due to a lower-body injury and has made only eight starts in 2025-26, going 6-2-0 with a 2.33 goals-against average, a .899 save percentage, and one shutout. Brandon Bussi and Frederik Andersen will share the Hurricanes' crease for the rest of the way. The Russian blue-liner exited with 3:46 remaining in regulation and was spotted icing his right ankle after the game. Carolina's defense has taken several injury hits throughout the campaign and just lost Jaccob Slavin (upper body) for the second time this season. Nikishin is having a fine debut campaign, logging 13 points (four goals, nine assists), 60 shots, 46 blocks, and 69 hits with a team-best plus-13 rating in 35 outings.

Jaccob Slavin Placed on Injured Reserve, Out Week-to-Week

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin (upper body) has landed on Injured Reserve and is considered week-to-week. He will be absent for a second straight contest on Tuesday against the Florida Panthers. Slavin has been really unlucky with injuries this campaign, as he had just returned from a lower-body problem. Overall, the 31-year-old has made only five appearances in 2025-26, going scoreless with four shots and eight blocks. Due to Slavin's injury issues, K'Andre Miller has enjoyed increased usage on the blue line. Miller ranks third on the team with 30 blocks and has notched 13 points (two goals, 11 assists) in 28 appearances.

On Saturday, Carolina placed its top goal-scorer on Injured Reserve. Jarvis has potted 19 goals in 34 games, adding 10 assists. He is also a physical presence in the lineup, registering 43 hits this campaign. With Jarvis on the shelf, Jackson Blake has an opportunity to skate on the first line. Seth Jarvis to Be "Out for a While"

Carolina Hurricanes forward Seth Jarvis (upper body) will miss time after crashing into a goalpost 20 seconds into overtime during Friday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Florida Panthers. Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour said Jarvis' injury "is not good. He's going to be out for a while." The 23-year-old finished Friday's contest with a pair of assists and is Carolina's second-highest scorer. In 34 appearances, Jarvis has notched 29 points (19 goals, 10 assists). He leads the team in goals. Carolina will also miss Jarvis' physicality, as he has amassed 43 hits this season.

He was injured in Wednesday's win over the Nashville Predators and is considered day-to-day. The power forward has registered 11 points (four goals, seven assists) and 56 hits in 33 contests during his 12th NHL campaign. Jesperi Kotkaniemi will enter the lineup as Martinook's replacement. The Finnish forward has tallied five points (two goals, three assists) and 26 hits in 17 outings. He is not expected to have a major impact on Friday night.

Sebastian Aho Leads Hurricanes to Victory With Three-Point Period

Carolina Hurricanes center Sebastian Aho posted a game-high three points in Wednesday's 4-1 victory against the Nashville Predators. He did all of the scoring in the third period, helping Carolina turn a tight road game into a comfortable victory. Aho netted two goals and delivered one assist. With his 21st career multi-point period, Aho passed Ron Francis (20) for the second most in franchise history. Only Eric Staal (25) has managed more. The Finnish star badly needed this one, as Aho was stuck on a five-game point drought before Wednesday's contest. It was his worst run without any points since March 2023. Overall, Aho can be fairly happy with his campaign, tallying 29 points (11 goals, 18 assists) in 33 contests.

Jordan Martinook Sustains Lower-Body Injury

Carolina Hurricanes left wing Jordan Martinook (lower body) played only 5:44 in Wednesday's 4-1 victory over the Nashville Predators, exiting the action during the second period due to a lower-body injury. Martinook leads all Hurricanes forwards with 56 hits in 33 games and has chipped in with four goals and seven assists on the offensive end. Jesperi Kotkaniemi is expected to come into the lineup if Martinook is unavailable for this weekend's back-to-back against Florida and Tampa Bay. Kotkaniemi's fantasy value is at an all-time low, as he has managed only five points (two goals, three assists) in 17 appearances this season.

Brandon Bussi Looks to Stretch Winning Streak to Nine Games

Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Brandon Bussi will start Sunday's matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers. The 27-year-old rookie will look to continue his excellent season with another win on Sunday. In his most recent start against the Washington Capitals, Bussi became the fastest goaltender in NHL history to reach 10 career wins, accomplishing this in just his 11th appearance. He has won each of his last eight starts. Bussi has recorded one shutout while allowing 2.07 goals with a .910 save percentage. The Flyers have one of the league's weakest offenses, averaging 2.83 goals per game, making this a very favorable matchup for Bussi.

Jaccob Slavin Returns to Action Sunday

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin (lower body) will rejoin the lineup on Sunday against the Philadelphia Flyers, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports. Slavin has made only two appearances this season and didn't register a point in either of the outings. Joel Nystrom will make way in the lineup for Slavin after he was reassigned to the minors on Sunday. While Slavin's return is big news for the Hurricanes, he is not expected to make a significant impact in fantasy hockey.

Pyotr Kochetkov Back for Hurricanes Sunday

Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov (lower body) has been named the starter for Sunday's contest against the San Jose Sharks, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports. This will be his first appearance since Kochetkov improved to 4-0-0 for the season with a 3-1 victory over the Boston Bruins on Nov. 17. He has missed eight games with a lower-body injury. While the sample size is small, Kochetkov has done a great job this season, posting a 1.70 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage.
