He will replace Lars Eller in the top six, with the Danish veteran set to center the fourth line on Friday. Brady Tkachuk Aims to Return Friday

Ottawa Senators forward Brady Tkachuk (thumb) is set to return to action on Friday against the St. Louis Blues. The Senators captain announced his plan to return on the "Wingmen" podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother, Matthews Tkachuk (groin) of the Florida Panthers. "We have to check some boxes but everything looks good for Friday," Tkachuk said. Tkachuk underwent thumb surgery on Oct. 16 after making only three appearances this season. On Friday, Tkachuk is likely to land straight back on the top line and the first power-play unit.

Thomas Chabot to Remain Out Wednesday

Ottawa Senators defenseman Thomas Chabot (upper body) will be absent for a fifth time in six games on Wednesday night against the Vegas Golden Knights. He remains day-to-day with a lingering upper-body issue. Nikolas Matinpalo took Chabot's spot in the Senators defense on Monday against the Los Angeles Kings and is poised to stay in the lineup for Wednesday's contest. In Monday's 2-1 loss, Martinpalo recorded an assist, but he isn't known as a regular scorer. Jordan Spence is filling in for Chabot on the second power-play unit and could draw some fantasy interest on Wednesday against a team with a mediocre penalty-killing record.

Ridly Greig Still Out Monday

Ottawa Senators forward Ridly Greig (undisclosed) will skip a third straight game on Monday versus the Los Angeles Kings. Greig had been ever-present in the Senators lineup before suffering an undisclosed injury ahead of a seven-game road trip. He has contributed two goals and six assists in 19 appearances. Graig's absence has allowed Stephen Halliday to make his first career NHL appearances, but he has averaged only a handful of minutes per game. At the same time, Lars Eller has seen increased ice time as a member of the top six.

Thomas Chabot Misses Monday's Matchup

Ottawa Senators defenseman Thomas Chabot (upper body) won't play on Monday night against the Los Angeles Kings. Over the weekend, Chabot made an early return from an upper-body injury, but he re-aggravated the issue and will now be absent for a fourth time in five games. Chabot has recorded 10 points (two goals, eight assists), 22 shots, and 36 blocks in 18 outings this season. Nikolas Matinpalo (undisclosed) is set to replace him in the Senators lineup on Monday, returning from a one-game absence. Meanwhile, Jordan Spence will see a boost in playing time.

Thomas Chabot Available Against Sharks

Ottawa Senators defenseman Thomas Chabot (upper body) has been activated from Injured Reserve and is set to play on Saturday night against the San Jose Sharks. The former All-Star recently suffered an upper-body injury, and initial reports suggested that he would be unavailable for two weeks. Yet, Chabot ended up sitting out only three games. Once again, Chabot is carrying a heavy load in the Senators defense this season, averaging close to 22 minutes of ice time. He has recorded 10 points (two goals, eight assists), 19 shots, 35 blocks, and 11 hits in 17 outings. Chabot will likely fill his usual duties on the second defensive pairing and the second power-play unit against the Sharks.

Lars Eller  • C  •  Senators

Lars Eller Available Thursday

Ottawa Senators center Lars Eller (undisclosed) is expected to play on Thursday night against the Anaheim Ducks. On Wednesday, Senators head coach Travis Green suggested that Eller will likely miss the meeting with the Ducks, but he has been listed on Ottawa's projected roster. Instead of Eller, Ridly Greig (undisclosed) will exit the lineup, with Stephen Halliday coming in for his NHL debut. Eller has posted six points (two goals, four assists) in 19 games this season. However, he has been on a dry spell since the calendar flipped to November, going scoreless in seven games.

Ridly Greig Out Against Ducks

Ottawa Senators forward Ridly Greig (undisclosed) won't play on Thursday against the Anaheim Ducks and is considered day-to-day. The 23-year-old is missing his first action of the season due to an undisclosed injury. Across 19 appearances, Greig has produced two goals and six assists. With Greig out, Stephen Halliday will make his NHL debut. The 23-year-old was a fourth-round draft pick in 2022 and has shown potential in the minors. Halliday ranks second in the AHL with 15 assists and has scored one goal in 15 appearances.

Lars Eller to Miss Thursday's Action

Ottawa Senators center Lars Eller (undisclosed) won't play in Thursday's contest against the Anaheim Ducks, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports. The Danish veteran is dealing with an undisclosed injury, prompting the team to recall Stephen Halliday from the minors. In 2025-26, Eller has won a career-high 56.4 percent of faceoffs and boasts six points (two goals, four assists) through 19 appearances. If he enters the lineup on Thursday, Halliday would make his NHL debut. The 23-year-old has been a prolific player in the AHL, posting 16 points (one goal, 15 assists) in 15 outings this season.

Shane Pinto Lands Four-Year Extension

Ottawa Senators center Shane Pinto signed a four-year, $30 million extension with the team on Thursday. He celebrated his new contract by scoring his ninth goal of the season in a 5-3 victory over the Boston Bruins. Across 18 outings, Pinto has also tallied six assists, marking a major improvement from his usual production. Before this season, Pinto had averaged around 0.5 points per game for his NHL career. Currently, he's on pace for a 60-point campaign. The scoring level seems unsustainable, but the Senators have a top-five offense in the league, and many players, including Pinto, are benefiting from it.

Thomas Chabot to Sit Out Two Weeks

Ottawa Senators defenseman Thomas Chabot (upper body) is expected to miss at least two weeks, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports. He sustained an upper-body injury this week and missed his first contest of the season on Thursday night against the Boston Bruins. In 17 outings, Chabot has tallied 10 points (two goals, eight assists), while blocking a team-high 35 shots. On Thursday, Nikolas Matinpalo replaced Chabot in the lineup, and Tyler Kleven saw increased ice time. Another change in the backline might be coming for the Senators after Nick Jensen (upper body) was hurt against Boston.

Thomas Chabot Injured Versus Stars

Ottawa Senators defenseman Thomas Chabot (upper body) played only the first period in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime loss against the Dallas Stars. According to Senators head coach Travis Green, Chabot sustained an upper-body injury while reaching for the puck. Chabot must shake off the injury by Thursday to avoid missing his first game of the season. The former All-Star has kept himself busy in all areas of the game, recording 10 points (two goals, eight assists), 19 shots, 35 blocks, and 11 hits with a plus-six rating in 17 appearances. If Chabot has to sit out some action, Nikolas Matinpalo will likely be re-inserted into the lineup. Meanwhile, Jake Sanderson and Tyler Kleven are expected to see an increase in ice time.

Nick Cousins Injured on Saturday

Ottawa Senators left wing Nick Cousins (undisclosed) left Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss against the Montreal Canadiens in the third period, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports. Prior to his exit, Cousins was involved in a fight with Canadiens defenseman Jayden Struble. The veteran has contributed two goals and one assist in 13 outings this season, averaging close to two hits per game. Cousins gets a few days to recover, as the Senators won't return to action until their meeting with the Boston Bruins on Thursday night. If he isn't ready to play on Thursday, Ottawa is likely to bring Olle Lycksell back into the lineup.

Drake Batherson Picks Up Three Points in Monday's Win

Ottawa Senators winger Drake Batherson piled up three points as the team ran riot against the Boston Bruins on Monday night, winning 7-2. Batherson provided two of the goals and had one assist. He bagged two points on the power play. After missing a few games at the beginning of the season due to injury, Batherson has been on a roll, accumulating 10 points (four goals and six assists) in seven games. The 27-year-old has finished each of his last two games with three points. His success has been bolstered by Ottawa's lethal power play, which has converted a league-best 35.1 percent of its chances with the man advantage.

Shane Pinto Pots Sixth Goal of the Campaign

Ottawa Senators center Shane Pinto scored his sixth goal of the season in Thursday's 4-3 shootout win against the Buffalo Sabres. Lars Eller and Claude Giroux set him up early in the game, helping Pinto post a new franchise record for most goals scored through the first five games of a season. The 24-year-old shares the league lead in goal-scoring with Pavel Dorofeyev of the Vegas Golden Knights. It's an impressive feat by Pinto, considering Ottawa's struggles at the start of the campaign. Dylan Cozens is the only other player to score more than once for the team. Pinto has also recorded one assist, placing him at the top of the Senators' scoring charts with a total of seven points.

Brady Tkachuk to Miss 6-8 Weeks After Having Thumb Surgery

Ottawa Senators forward Brady Tkachuk (thumb) will be shelved for six to eight weeks after he had surgery on his right thumb, the team announced on Thursday. The Senators captain sustained the injury in Monday's battle against the Nashville Predators and will miss a second consecutive game on Thursday versus the Seattle Kraken. Following surgery, he's looking at a minimum 20-game absence. This is a huge blow for the Senators, who can count on Tkachuk to make a big impact on both ends of the ice. On Wednesday, Michael Amadio took on a first-line role against the Buffalo Sabres, and David Perron could also see more ice time in the coming weeks.

Brady Tkachuk Expected to Miss at Least One Month

Ottawa Senators forward Brady Tkachuk (wrist) will miss at least one month of action, according to head coach Travis Green. "He's going to miss a significant amount of time," Green said Tuesday. "We'll know more in the next 24 hours. We don't know exactly, but it's four weeks plus. We don't know exactly." Tkachuk hurt his right wrist during Monday's contest against the Nashville Predators. Across the first three games of the season, Tkachuk has amassed three assists with 10 shots and 10 hits. Losing Tkachuk is a tough blow for Ottawa, but the team will at least have Drake Batherson (upper body) back in the lineup Wednesday versus the Buffalo Sabres.

Brady Tkachuk Suffers Injury in Monday's Loss

Ottawa Senators forward Brady Tkachuk (undisclosed) didn't finish Monday's 4-1 loss to the Nashville Predators, Sportsnet's Alex Adams reports. The Senators captain was injured on a cross-check from Predators defenseman Roman Josi in the first period. Tkachuk was initially able to play through the injury, but didn't see any ice time during the final nine minutes of play. Senators head coach Travis Green told reporters postgame that Tkachuk's exit wasn't for precautionary reasons. Losing Tkachuk for any length of time would be a major blow for Ottawa. More details about his injury should be known before Wednesday's game against the Buffalo Sabres.

Tyler Kleven Ready for Season Debut Monday

Ottawa Senators defenseman Tyler Kleven (undisclosed) plans to return to action Monday against the Nashville Predators, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports. An undisclosed injury has kept Kleven out for the first two games of the season, and he has started the year on Injured Reserve. Kleven is eligible to be activated from Injured Reserve on Monday. Kleven's return is great news for the Senators, but he has little fantasy impact. In 2024-25, the 23-year-old recorded 10 points (four goals, six assists), 78 shots, 97 blocks, and 105 hits over 79 games.

Drake Batherson Aims to Return Wednesday

Ottawa Senators winger Drake Batherson (upper body) is aiming to return to action on Wednesday, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports. Batherson has been out of the lineup at the start of the season due to an upper-body injury. He's likely to miss a third straight contest on Monday against the Nashville Predators, but it looks like Ottawa will have him back on Wednesday night versus the Buffalo Sabres. Batherson has become a key top-six contributor for the Senators and still has a chance to post a fourth consecutive 60-point campaign, despite missing some time.
