Sharks
San Jose Sharks left wing William Eklund scored a power-play goal in his return to the lineup on Sunday versus Colorado. He returned to work following a one-game absence with an upper-body injury. Eklund scored his first goal of the season late in the first period, but it ended up being the Sharks' lone marker as they couldn't hang with the Avalanche in a 4-1 loss. While working over four minutes on the power play, Eklund ended up logging 18:59 of ice time. It was a slow start to the campaign for the Swede, but he has now collected three points (one goal, two assists) in his past two appearances.

William Eklund Out On Friday
San Jose Sharks left wing William Eklund (upper body) will not be in the lineup against Winnipeg on Friday. The young winger was able to play through an upper-body injury on Thursday versus Chicago but will take some time off to rest on Friday after admitting that he isn't 100 percent. Eklund has started his sophomore campaign strongly, posting three assists in four games with 11 shots on goal. Danil Gushchin could be Eklund's replacement on the first line in Friday's matchup. He has been a healthy scratch for three games but worked on the top line in Wednesday's practice when Eklund missed the session.

William Eklund Skips Wednesday's Practice
San Jose Sharks left wing William Eklund didn't practice on Wednesday due to an upper-body injury. According to Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky, Eklund is dealing with a "little nagging" injury and is "probably a game-time decision" for Thursday's matchup against Chicago. Eklund has been a member of the first line to start the season, contributing one assist with nine shots. Danil Gushchin, who has been a healthy scratch for a couple of games, filled in for Eklund on the top line in Wednesday's practice. He could be an intriguing DFS target for managers on Thursday in a favorable matchup if Eklund cannot play and Gushchin maintains the spot.

William Eklund Back At Practice On Sunday
San Jose Sharks forward William Eklund (upper body) returned to practice on Sunday after missing the previous session. Eklund was unable to practice on Friday and was ruled day-to-day with an upper-body injury. However, following San Jose's off day on Saturday, Eklund made a quick return to the ice. The 21-year-old skated with Tyler Toffoli and Macklin Celebrini. Only Mikael Granlund (60) had more points than Eklund (45) with the Sharks last season, and the young Swede should have another fine campaign in 2024-25.

William Eklund Day-To-Day With Upper-Body Injury
San Jose Sharks forward William Eklund is considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury. Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky expects Eklund to recover in time for the team's regular-season opener on Oct. 10 versus St. Louis. Eklund will enter his sophomore campaign after having a decent run as a rookie. The 21-year-old registered 45 points (16 goals, 29 assists) in 80 games last season. Eklund has been competing for a first-line spot in training camp. The injury will be a setback for him, but he should still feature heavily in the Sharks attack this season, even in a lesser role.

William Eklund Celebrates First Hat Trick On Saturday
San Jose Sharks forward William Eklund scored all of his team's goals in Saturday's 3-2 overtime triumph over St. Louis. At 21 years and 177 days old, Eklund became the fifth-youngest player in franchise history to score a hat trick. The rookie from Sweden is finishing the campaign strongly and has been kept off the score sheet just once in the past eight games. Eklund has totaled 15 goals and 25 assists in 74 games for the season.

William Eklund Available Again On Tuesday
San Jose Sharks forward William Eklund (lower body) will return from a one-game absence Tuesday against Winnipeg. He was a late scratch against the Golden Knights on Sunday, but it looks like Eklund was only dealing with a minor problem. After struggling for consistency for most of the year, Eklund has found some form lately, posting two goals and three assists in four appearances this month. He's tallied six goals and seven assists in total across 27 appearances. He'll jump back on the first line. Second-line winger Anthony Duclair (upper body) is also good to go on Tuesday after exiting early versus Vegas.

William Eklund Will Play Thursday
San Jose Sharks forward William Eklund (illness) will be in the lineup for Thursday's clash with the Canucks. He has been battling an illness, but it won't keep him out of action. The 21-year-old has started his first full season in the league, picking up one goal and one assist in nine games. It's been a rough start for him, but the whole team has struggled, and San Jose will battle on Thursday to avoid having its worst start to a season in franchise history. The team has yet to win in nine games, scoring a measly nine goals while allowing 35.
