Ottawa Senators forward Nick Cousins (knee) will miss extended time after undergoing surgery. Per Julian McKenzie of The Athletic, Senators head coach Travis Green believes it will be "a couple of months" before Cousins returns to the lineup. The gritty forward has been out for three games. Cousins has registered 13 points (five goals, eight assists) in 47 outings while averaging 1.7 hits. Ottawa also lost Josh Norris (undisclosed) on Saturday against Minnesota and is without Noah Gregor (lower body), so the team's forward depth is getting tested right now.

The 30-year-old bottom-sox forward has tallied two goals and five points across 37 games on the season, his second with the Panthers following stints with the Flyers, Coyotes, Canadiens, Golden Knights, and Predators.

Playing in a second-line role, Cousins finds himself skating with some great attacking talent, but he hasn't managed to be a consistent scorer in the playoffs and has fired off just 13 shots on goal in 12 games.
Nashville Predators center Nick Cousins (lower body) will return to the lineup on Tuesday against the visiting Dallas Stars. The 28-year-old forward was injured colliding with teammate Ryan Johansen during a 5-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets and hasn't played since. His return gives Nashville more options on their forward attack as they try to find some consistency, having lost four of their last seven games but coming off an 8-0 shutout of the San Jose Sharks on Saturday. Cousins has 13 points (six goals, seven assists) in 42 games played this season.
