Ryan O'Reilly Returns With Three-Point Effort

Nashville Predators center Ryan O'Reilly rejoined the lineup and had a great game in Thursday's 4-1 victory at Dallas. He was involved in three goals, lightning the lamp twice and recording one assist. The veteran forward had missed the previous three games with a lower-body injury. O'Reilly's productivity has been disappointing this season, but it hasn't been easy for him on a struggling team. Through 27 outings, O'Reilly is sporting 17 points (seven goals, 10 assists). Most of his points (8) came in October, so there have been some really dark times for O'Reilly in the last couple of months, but he'll have some momentum following Thursday's impressive performance.

Roman Josi Out On Thursday

Nashville Predators defenseman Roman Josi (lower body) will not be in the lineup on Thursday against Dallas. He will skip his first game of the season after sustaining a lower-body injury in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to Calgary. Nashville has just tied its franchise record with an eighth consecutive loss, and Josi's absence is a further blow for the struggling team. The Predators captain has put up a team-high 23 points (seven goals, 16 assists) in 29 games. Kevin Gravel is expected to draw into the lineup as Josi's replacement. Josi plays in all situations and averages close to 25 minutes of ice time, so there is a massive gap to fill for Nashville at the back.

Jonathan Marchessault Pots Two Goals Versus Flames

Nashville Predators right wing Jonathan Marchessault scored two of the team's goals in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to Calgary. Marchessault's second put the Predators 3-2 up in the second period, but the team couldn't stop its slide, tying a franchise record with an eighth consecutive loss. With the team struggling, it's been tough for the players to live up to expectations, and Marchessault is no different. Since the start of November, he's notched points in just six games. The veteran forward has tallied 15 points (seven goals, eight assists) for the season with 48 hits in 29 contests. There have been only two occasions this campaign when Marchessault has recorded points in back-to-back games.

Roman Josi Suffers A Lower-Body Injury

Nashville Predators defenseman Roman Josi (lower body) did not complete Tuesday's contest against Calgary. The Predators lost their captain to a lower-body injury after he had logged 5:32 of ice time. As the team has massively struggled this season, Josi has not had a good campaign, but he's still a massive presence on the ice. In 29 outings, Josi has registered a team-high 23 points (seven goals, 16 assists) with 86 shots, 52 blocks, and 32 hits. The Predators defense also recently lost Alexandre Carrier (upper body), and Jeremy Lauzon (lower body) remains out, resulting in rookie Adam Wilsby playing a big role.

Alexandre Carrier Out Week-To-Week

Nashville Predators defenseman Alexandre Carrier (upper body) is considered week-to-week. The 28-year-old was injured on Saturday versus Ottawa and didn't participate in Monday's practice session. Averaging over 20 minutes of ice time per game, Carrier has contributed one goal and six assists in 28 games this season. He's second on the team with 49 blocks and has delivered 31 hits. Marc Del Gaizo is expected to replace Carrier in the lineup on Tuesday against Calgary. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect much from Del Gaizo, as his offensive contributions have been limited to three assists. In 16 appearances, he's also tallied 23 blocks and 23 hits.

Ryan O'Reilly Out Week-To-Week

Nashville Predators center Ryan O'Reilly (lower body) has been labeled as week-to-week. He missed his first game of the season Thursday versus Montreal, and unfortunately, O'Reilly isn't expected to make a quick return. The veteran forward has bagged 14 points (five goals, nine assists) in 26 outings this season, putting him third in scoring on the team. Steven Stamkos took on first-line center duties on Thursday, with Fedor Svechkov slotting into the second line. Zachary L'Heureux also saw time in the top six as the struggling Predators were handed another defeat on Thursday.

Juuse Saros Strong In Saturday's Victory

Nashville Predators goaltender Juuse Saros stopped 23 of the 24 shots he faced during Saturday's victory over the high-flying Winnipeg Jets. The Predators dominated play through most of the evening as Saros' lone blemish came in the second frame off a wrist shot from Adam Lowry. Over his past six starts, Saros has posted a stellar 1.67 GAA with a .944 SV% despite holding a modest 3-2-1 record. Even though Nashville has yet to find its footing this season, Saros has consistently put them in situations to win games. Despite the low win total, fantasy managers should continue to start Saros in any matchup, given his excellent ratios when facing hefty shot totals. His next start is tentatively lined up for Monday evening against the New Jersey Devils.

Roman Josi Strikes Twice On Saturday

Nashville Predators defenseman Roman Josi found the back of the net twice in Saturday's victory over the Winnipeg Jets. Josi opened the scoring on a slap shot past goaltender Eric Comrie. Later in the final minutes, the 34-year-old would earn his second tally on the empty-netter to clinch the victory. After tallying just seven points through his first 13 games, Josi has begun to find his footing this season and has tallied nine points in his past eight contests. During this span, the former second-round pick has logged four power-play points with nine total blocked shots. Given his recent turnaround, fantasy managers should continue to view Josi as a high-end defenseman given his ability to contribute in all aspects of the game. Josi will look to stay hot on Monday evening against the New Jersey Devils.

Steven Stamkos Hits Pair Of Power-Play Goals

Nashville Predators forward Steven Stamkos netted two power-play goals in a 5-3 road victory over Vancouver on Sunday. His second marker was the game-winner in the contest. With the two strikes, Stamkos took over the 11th spot on the all-time power-play goals list. He now has 219 of them on his resume. Five of Stamkos' six goals this season have come with the man advantage. His move to Music City hasn't worked out quite as well as many expected, and Stamkos was averaging even less than 0.5 points per game ahead of Sunday's matchup. He's now on 10 points (six goals, four assists) through 19 outings. You would expect to see Stamkos pick up his scoring pace at some point, but it's impossible to predict when that might happen.

Tommy Novak Returns For Predators Sunday

Nashville Predators center Tommy Novak (upper body) will rejoin the lineup on Sunday versus Vancouver. He has recovered from an upper-body injury, which kept Novak sidelined for six games. The 27-year-old has not had a lot of offensive success in 2024-25, posting three goals and four points. Skating mostly in the bottom six, Novak has averaged 13:20 of ice time. Michael McCarron has been filling in for Novak during the last couple of weeks and might have to come out of the lineup on Sunday.

Tommy Novak Remains Out On Monday

Nashville Predators center Tommy Novak (upper body) will miss a fourth straight game on Monday versus Colorado. Novak participated in the morning skate but isn't quite ready to go yet. His next chance to return comes on Thursday against Edmonton. Novak's absence isn't a big miss for the Predators, as he has struggled for form this season. After posting back-to-back 40-point campaigns, the 27-year-old has totaled only three goals and four points in 12 appearances.

Filip Forsberg  • LW  •  Predators

Filip Forsberg Nets Two Goals On Saturday

Nashville Predators right wing Filip Forsberg found the back of the net two times on Saturday evening en route to defeating the Utah Hockey Club. Forsberg opened the scoring on the power-play off a snap shot which beat Utah netminder Connor Ingram. Later in the second, the 30-year-old would tack on his second tally of the evening unassisted. This outing snapped a three-goal game drought. Through his first 15 games this season, Forsberg has tallied 13 points (eight goals, five assists) with a -5 rating and 60 shots on goal. Fantasy managers should continue to lock the winger into their lineups for the remainder of the season as he remains Nashville's top goal producer despite their underwhelming start.

Juuse Saros Posts Shutout Victory On Saturday

Nashville Predators goaltender Juuse Saros stopped all 26 shots he faced en route to defeating the Utah Hockey Club on Saturday evening. This victory snapped a two-game losing streak for Saros. In addition, this was his second shutout of the young campaign. The 29-year-old now sits with an underwhelming 4-7-1 record but a solid .911 SV% and a 2.61 GAA. Even though the Predators have fallen below expectations through the first month of the season, fantasy managers should continue to lock Saros in their lineup as he is putting them position to win on a daily basis. His next start is tentatively lined up on Monday evening when he will face high-scoring Colorado Avalanche.

Tommy Novak Day-To-Day With An Upper-Body Injury

Nashville Predators center Tommy Novak is considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury. Novak was a late scratch for Wednesday's clash with the Capitals and might miss out on Thursday's meeting with the Panthers as well. The 23-year-old has been used throughout the lineup, averaging 13:20 of ice time for the campaign. He sits on three goals and four points through 12 outings. Juuso Parssinen and Michael McCarron saw a lot of extra action on Wednesday as Nashville also lost Colton Sissons (upper body) in the contest.

Mark Jankowski  • C  •  Predators

Mark Jankowski Back For Predators On Saturday

Nashville Predators center Mark Jankowski (upper body) will be back in the lineup for Saturday's battle with Colorado. He was a late scratch for Thursday's game against Edmonton. Jankowski has a limited role with the Predators and shouldn't be expected to make an impact in fantasy hockey. Through nine outings this season, he has recorded one assist, 10 shots, two blocks, and four hits while logging 12:43 of ice time per game. Jankowski's return will result in Michael McCarron dropping out of the lineup.

Gustav Nyquist  • C  •  Predators

Gustav Nyquist Tallies Assist, Shorthanded Goal On Friday

Nashville Predators right wing Gustav Nyquist tallied an assist and a shorthanded goal in their victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday evening. Nyquist tallied the primary assist on Filip Forsberg's goal in the second frame which got Nashville on the board. Later in the frame, Nyquist would tie the game with a shorthanded goal off a wrist shot from the slot. The 35-year-old is now carrying a three-game point streak after being held off the scoresheet during the first four games of the season. Nyquist should continue to find scoring opportunities and should remain a solid point producer playing on the top line alongside Filip Forsberg and Ryan O'Reilly.

Juuse Saros Backstops Predators To First Win

Nashville Predators goaltender Juuse Saros recorded 33 saves as the team finally got its first victory of the season on Tuesday by beating Boston 4-0. Entering Tuesday, Nashville was 0-5-0 for the season, even losing four contests at home. But things finally clicked for the team on Tuesday, as there were four different goal-scorers, and Saros showed off top form with his 24th career shutout. Despite the team's struggles, Saros has actually logged a decent 2.89 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage. He now sits on a 1-4-0 record and should start to improve steadily, as the Predators are simply too good to remain at the bottom of the league table.

Scott Wedgewood Set To Face Former Team On Thursday

Nashville Predators goaltender Scott Wedgewood is expected to get the start against the Dallas Stars on Thursday. Wedgewood gets a chance to take on his former team on opening night due to Juuse Saros' (lower body) injury. The 32-year-old played well in Texas last season, going 16-7-5 with a 2.85 goals-against average and a .899 save percentage. Wedgewood should know a thing or two about stopping the Dallas attack, but he has to outbattle Jake Oettinger to get the victory on Thursday. Four years into his NHL career, Oettinger has yet to lose his season debut.

Juuse Saros Iffy For Thursday's Season Opener

Nashville Predators goaltender Juuse Saros (lower body) is in danger of missing Thursday's season opener against the Dallas Stars. He's battling a lower-body injury and is currently considered day-to-day. Saros has been among the NHL's top goalies for several years, and Nashville is weaker in every game without him. Career backup Scott Wedgewood will be in line for a start on Thursday if Saros can't go, while Matt Murray has been summoned from the AHL to work as the backup. Wedgewood is fresh off a stint with the Stars, having posted a 53-28-16 record with the team across three seasons. He has won one of four career starts against them.

Steven Stamkos Joins Predators With Four-Year Deal

Forward Steven Stamkos is leaving his longtime home in Tampa Bay to join the new-look Nashville Predators, who signed him to a four-year, $8 Million AAV contract on July 1. Stammer joins a suddenly dangerous-looking Predators team that also added Jonathan Marchessault and Brady Skjei. The Lightning legend wasn't offered what he was looking for from Tampa, so he decided to head off to Nashville instead. Although he is 34, Stamkos is coming off a 40-goal, 81-point season and has posted over a point-per-game in seven straight years (not including the COVID-shortened season). He will be a massive boost to the Predators' offense and should be drafted in the first four rounds of fantasy drafts.
