Bunting is currently sidelined with after undergoing an appendectomy and could return later in the 2024 season. However, Bunting will be under contract with Nashville for the 2025 season. Bunting was initially traded to Pittsburgh during last year's trade deadline in a move that sent Jake Guentzel to the Carolina Hurricanes. Before sustaining the injury this season, the 29-year-old found the back of the net 14 times and added 15 helpers. He tallied 15 of his points on the power-play and added 59 hits and 13 blocked shots. If Bunting were to return later this season, he will likely have a role in the Nashville top-six.

The Washington Capitals have placed right wing Jakub Vrana on waivers earlier on Wednesday. Vrana has only drawn one start since the first week of January. As a result, the team decided to remove him from the NHL roster. Through 26 games this season, Vrana has scored seven goals and added four assists. He has held a +6 rating with 28 shots on goal and 13 hits. Ethan Frank has taken Vrana's spot on the third line and is now expected to remain there for the foreseeable future. The 29-year-old has scored at least 20 goals in two seasons of his career. However, he has only surpassed 15 goals in one of his past four NHL seasons. Vrana may draw interest as a depth option but given his lack of playing time, he will likely continue his season with the Hershey Bears.

Given Nashville's struggles this season, O'Reilly remains a low-end center option as he has only tallied 39 points through 58 games.
