Steven Stamkos Joins Predators With Four-Year Deal

Forward Steven Stamkos is leaving his longtime home in Tampa Bay to join the new-look Nashville Predators, who signed him to a four-year, $8 Million AAV contract on July 1. Stammer joins a suddenly dangerous-looking Predators team that also added Jonathan Marchessault and Brady Skjei. The Lightning legend wasn't offered what he was looking for from Tampa, so he decided to head off to Nashville instead. Although he is 34, Stamkos is coming off a 40-goal, 81-point season and has posted over a point-per-game in seven straight years (not including the COVID-shortened season). He will be a massive boost to the Predators' offense and should be drafted in the first four rounds of fantasy drafts.

Predators Ink Jonathan Marchessault To Five-Year Deal

The Nashville Predators have signed right winger Jonathan Marchessault to a five-year, $5.5 million AAV deal. In conjunction with their signing of Steven Stamkos and Brady Skjei, the Preds handed out over $100 million in contracts on July 1. They should immediately turn into contenders with their new additions. For his part, Marchessault brings the ability to finish and some grit along with it. He scored 42 goals last year and added 27 assists, 266 shots, and 107 hits. He will fit into Nashville's top six and first power-play unit in all likelihood and should be looked at within the top 100 of fantasy drafts.

Luke Schenn Hopeful For Game 6

Nashville Predators defenseman Luke Schenn is hopeful to play in Game 6 of the team's first-round series against the Vancouver Canucks after missing Game 5 with an illness. "Much better today," Schenn said on Thursday. "It seemed like it was more of a 24-hour thing, now just kind of recovering. It's actually a blessing in disguise having two days between games here." Schenn said his illness kicked in after waking up from his pregame nap on Tuesday. The veteran appeared in 63 regular-season games, notching a goal and seven points in that time while providing his usual physicality in the form of 202 hits and 43 penalty minutes. The Preds need a win on Friday to avoid elimination.

Filip Forsberg Collects Two Apples In Game 5 Win

Nashville Predators winger Filip Forsberg posted an assist on both of his team's goals in their Game 5 victory over the Vancouver Canucks. The Preds stayed alive in the series with a 2-1 win, pushing the Canucks to Game 6, which will take place in Nashville. Forsberg has been the Predators' best player so far this series, tallying six points (two goals, four assists) in four games, but he's going to need more help if they want to complete the comeback, as Nashville has had major difficulties with scoring in this series.

Juuse Saros Comes Through For Predators In Game 5

Nashville Predators goaltender Juuse Saros had a solid performance in Game 5 of their first-round series against the Vancouver Canucks, picking up a 2-1 victory. Saros helped the Preds stave off elimination, stopping 19 of 20 shots in his best outing of the series. The Predators will need their veteran goaltender to keep having performances like this if they want to come back and win this series, as his current .879 SV% isn't good enough to win the team two more games. It has been a low-scoring series so far and the difference could easily be which goaltender is better, so Saros could have to steal a game or two.

Michael McCarron Fined 2K For Goalie Interference

Nashville Predators forward Michael McCarron has been fined 2K for interference on Vancouver Canucks goaltender Casey DeSmith. The 29-year-old put a shoulder into the netminder behind the net while DeSmith was playing the puck at 12:25 of the first period on Friday. McCarron was handed a two-minute minor for interference on the play. McCarron enjoyed by far the best season of his career in the 2023-24 campaign, setting career highs across the board with 12 goals, 10 assists, 94 shots, 142 hits, and 100 penalty minutes. If he can continue to ascend while providing that type of physicality, there's a chance he could become fantasy-relevant for leagues that count hits next season.

Spencer Stastney Out Week To Week For Preds

Nashville Predators defenseman Spencer Stastney is out week to week due to an upper-body injury suffered during the second period of Friday's Game 3 loss to the Vancouver Canucks. The 24-year-old has appeared in all three postseason games for the Preds so far and has averaged 10:59 of ice time but it appears he is done for at least the first round of the postseason. Stastney appeared in 20 regular-season games for the Preds, notching two goals and four points while he also appeared in 44 games with the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals, tallying five goals and 20 points in that time. Dante Fabbro and Tyson Barrie are options to replace the blueliner for Sunday's Game 4 in Nashville.

Filip Forsberg Leads The Charge As Nashville Ties Series

Nashville Predators left wing Filip Forsberg recorded two points, including the game-winning goal, as the team tied its first-round series against Vancouver with a 4-1 win in Game 2 on Tuesday. Forberg assisted Anthony Beauvillier on the first goal of the game with less than two minutes played before lighting the lamp himself in the second frame. The Swedish star finished the regular season with a three-game goal streak and has opened the playoffs in prolific form as well. The series heads to Music City for Game 3 with Forsberg sitting on three points (one goal, two assists).

Filip Forsberg Makes History In Big Comeback Win

Nashville Predators left wing Filip Forsberg put together a three-point performance on Tuesday as the team came from 4-1 down to win 5-4 in overtime against the Golden Knights. Forsberg scored Nashville's third goal and was one of the set-up men on both the fourth and fifth markers. It was a historic night, with Forsberg becoming the first player in franchise history with multiple 40-goal campaigns and also the first with multiple 80-point seasons. 14 of his 81 points have come during Forsberg's current seven-game scoring streak. The run includes a six-game goal streak as Forsberg has been one of the protagonists in Nashville's late-season surge.

Kevin Lankinen Ends Three-Year Shutout Drought

Nashville Predators goaltender Kevin Lankinen put in a big performance in his 14th start of the season on Thursday against Florida, posting a 33-save shutout in an impressive 3-0 road win. It's his first shutout since March 25, 2021, when Lankinen also blanked the Panthers as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks. The Predators' backup is now riding a four-game winning streak. Lankinen has done great behind Juuse Saros all year, going 10-4-0 with a 2.90 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage.

Jeremy Lauzon Out Week-To-Week

Nashville Predators defenseman Jeremy Lauzon is out week to week with a lower-body injury. It's unclear when the blueliner suffered the injury as he skated 20:14 in a 4-1 win over the Seattle Kraken on Saturday. He has already notched career highs with six goals and 13 points on the season in 68 games but Lauzon's 327 hits are easily the most in the NHL, 59 more than second-place Garnet Hathaway. Mark Del Gaizo will take Lauzon's spot in the Predators lineup beginning Tuesday night versus the visiting San Jose Sharks. The Predators currently sit in the top Wild Card spot in the Western Conference with a 39-25-4 record.

Jason Zucker Moves On To Nashville

The Nashville Predators have acquired forward Jason Zucker from the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for a 2024 sixth-round pick that originally belonged to the Dallas Stars. The Coyotes are not retaining any of Zucker's $5.3 million cap hit, lessening the return as a result. Zucker, who has been held out of the past two games for trade-related reasons, has recorded nine goals and 25 points across 51 games on the season. A veteran of 679 career NHL games, Zucker has tallied 191 goals and 363 points in that time. The Predators have won nine of their last 10 games, catapulting them into the top Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.

Filip Forsberg Pushes Nashville Past Buffalo With Ninth Hat Trick

Nashville Predators left wing Filip Forsberg put together a three-goal outing on Thursday against Buffalo, helping the team to a 4-2 victory. It's his ninth career hat trick -- only Kent Nilsson (14) and Markus Naslund (11) have had more in the NHL among Swedish-born players. The Predators have been scorching hot recently with a 9-0-1 run, and Forsberg has been the main man in the success. He's had eight goals and six assists during the 10-game stretch. The Swedish star has added to his tally in each of the last seven games, and it's given Forsberg 67 points (33 goals, 34 assists) in 64 games for the season

Jason Zucker To Remain Out Thursday

Arizona Coyotes winger Jason Zucker will once again be held out of the lineup for trade-related reasons for Thursday's contest versus the visiting Minnesota Wild. Zucker was held out of Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Blackhawks as the pending free agent is likely to be traded prior to Friday's trade deadline and the club protects against injury. The 32-year-old has had a decent season on a poor Coyotes offense with nine goals and 25 points across 51 games while registering 104 shots on goal in that time. He has averaged 14:02 minutes of ice time per game and has brought his typical physicality with 74 hits on the campaign. The Coyotes will be moving out pieces as they sit 18 points behind the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.

Predators Acquire Anthony Beauvillier From Blackhawks

The Nashville Predators have acquired forward Anthony Beauvillier from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a 2024 fifth-round draft pick. The middle-six forward was traded by the Islanders to the Vancouver Canucks prior to the 2023 trade deadline as part of a package for Bo Horvat before landing with the Blackhawks from the Canucks in exchange for a conditional 2024 fifth-round pick in November. After putting forth solid production for the Islanders in parts of eight seasons, the 26-year-old's production has dipped as he posted two goals and eight points with Vancouver in 22 games this season before recording two goals and six points in another 23 games with the Blackhawks. The Predators currently occupy the second and final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference, six points up on the St. Louis Blues.

Ryan O'Reilly Continues Hot Spell With Three-Point Effort

Nashville Predators center Ryan O'Reilly was forced to witness the first loss in nine games for his team against Montreal on Tuesday, but from a personal perspective, it was another superb outing for him. The veteran forward finished a 4-3 overtime loss with a goal and two assists. O'Reilly scored in a third consecutive game, and he'll head into the next matchup carrying a five-game point streak. Following a largely disappointing campaign in 2022-23, O'Reilly has found a spark again this season and is on course for his first 70-point year since 2018-19. With 63 games played, he sits on 23 goals and 31 assists.

Roman Josi  • D  •  Predators

Roman Josi Racks Up Three Points In Second Consecutive Outing

Nashville Predators defenseman Roman Josi contributed a goal and two assists as the team recorded a seventh consecutive win with a 6-1 result against Minnesota on Thursday. He started out with assists in each of the first two periods before potting the team's fourth goal early in the third. Josi's second helper came with the man advantage. The Predators captain has now had back-to-back three-point efforts for the third time in his career - Pittsburgh's Erik Karlsson (6) is the only active blue-liner with more such occasions. The big performances have been part of a four-game point streak, and February, as a whole, was very productive for Josi, as the 2020 Norris Trophy winner picked up 15 points (five goals, 10 assists) in 10 games. He has reached the 60-point mark for the fourth time in his career, with 15 goals and 45 assists in 61 games.

Juuse Saros  • G  •  Predators

Predators Unlikely To Trade Juuse Saros

The Nashville Predators are unlikely to trade star goaltender Juuse Saros, according to general manager Barry Trotz. "I think he'll be playing net for us this year," Trotz told The Athletic. "I don't suspect anything coming... We're pretty safe in saying he's going to be here." Trotz added that defenseman Alexandre Carrier might stay and fellow blueliner Tyson Barrie might go. The club looked to be trade deadline sellers but have rattled off six straight wins to climb back into playoff contention. They currently occupy the second Wild Card spot in the West thanks to a 33-25-2 record. Five points behind them is the Calgary Flames and while the Flames have one game in hand, the Predators are in a good spot to surprisingly crack the postseason.

Tyson Barrie Enters Predators Lineup On Wednesday

Nashville Predators defenseman Tyson Barrie will be back in the lineup for Wednesday's meeting with the Kings. The veteran has been only a bit-part player for Nashville this season and has also battled an upper-body injury recently, which has limited Barrie to one appearance this month. He has featured 31 times across the season, posting one goal and 10 assists. Barrie's fantasy value has plummeted in 2023-24, but he will be an intriguing fantasy option on Wednesday, as Nashville plans to use him on the first power-play unit.

Alexandre Carrier A Game-Time Call Wednesday

Nashville Predators defenseman Alexandre Carrier (undisclosed) is considered a game-time decision for Wednesday's clash with the Kings. He was limited to only eight minutes of action against Ottawa on Monday due to an unspecified ailment, but it looks like Carrier has a chance to play on Wednesday versus Los Angeles. The 27-year-old has notched 14 points (four goals, 10 assists) in 46 appearances this season while also making a mark on the defensive end with 92 blocks.
