Ridly Greig News
Ottawa Senators forwards Mark Kastelic (ankle) and Ridly Greig (lower body) were placed on Injured Reserve on Thursday. Kastelic has missed the last eight contests due to a high-ankle sprain suffered early in a 3-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Nov. 2. Prior to his injury, the 24-year-old was held pointless with eight shots and 21 penalty minutes across nine games. As for Grieg, the 2020 first-round pick has also missed the last eight games due to a lower-body injury. The 21-year-old was off to a strong start with two goals and seven points in nine games along with 18 shots on goal. He was seeing increased ice time in the games leading up to his injury and is averaging 14:18 of ice time for the season. Both long-term IR designations are retroactive to Nov. 3.
Ottawa Senators forwards Ridly Greig (lower body) and Mark Kastelic (ankle) will each miss at least two more weeks of action for the club. Greig left last Thursday's contest against the Los Angeles Kings early after suffering a lower-body injury when he crashed into the boards midway through the first period, while Kastelic also left the same contest in the second period after suffering a high-ankle sprain. Greig, a 21-year-old rookie, has notched two goals and seven points through nine games this season, while Kastelic, 24, is without a point with eight shots and 21 penalty minutes across nine games on the campaign. The Senators could get defenseman Artem Zub (concussion) back for Wednesday's contest against the Toronto Maple Leafs, but head coach D.J. Smith said, "I haven't got the 100 percent yet from anybody" on the blue-liner's status for the contest.
Ottawa Senators center Ridly Greig (lower body) isn't expected to play "anytime soon." He was injured on Thursday against the Kings, leaving Ottawa without another big contributor after the team lost multiple defensemen from its lineup. Greig has had an impressive start to the season as the third-line center, notching seven points (two goals, five assists) in nine games. Ottawa also lost Mark Kastelic (lower body) on Thursday, meaning Roby Jarventie will get a chance to make his NHL debut on Saturday versus Tampa Bay, while Zack MacEwen also gets back into the lineup.
Ottawa Senators center Ridly Greig suffered a lower-body injury Thursday against Los Angeles and is expected to miss "a few games." The team also lost Mark Kastelic (lower body) in the contest, but Greig's absence from the lineup is a significantly bigger blow. The 21-year-old has opened the season in impressive form and boasted seven points (two goals, five assists) in eight games before Thursday's short-lived outing. Rourke Chartier moved to Greig's spot on the third line in Thursday's game and looks set to receive a bit more work in the upcoming games.
