Brock McGinn Out 7-9 Months Following Knee Surgery
Anaheim Ducks left wing Brock McGinn (knee) will miss 7-9 months after undergoing surgery. McGinn hasn't played since Dec. 23, and the team announced on Tuesday that the veteran forward had successful ACL reconstruction surgery last week. The 2024-25 campaign ends with eight points (four goals, four assists) in 26 games for McGinn, who is a pending unrestricted free agent. He is coming off a four-year, $11 million deal. Considering the expected timeline for his recovery, McGinn may not be ready for the start of next season.
Anaheim Ducks left wing Brock McGinn sustained a lower-body injury in Monday's 4-2 win at Dallas. He had to leave after eight shifts when McGinn crashed into the boards. The 30-year-old has recorded six points (three goals, three assists) in 17 appearances this season and sits second on the team with 44 hits. Anaheim is back on the ice Tuesday night against Chicago, giving McGinn very little time to recover, and he should be regarded as questionable for the game.
Pittsburgh Penguins winger Brock McGinn suffered an upper-body injury in Friday's 5-2 win over Vegas and will be out week-to-week. The 28-year-old scooped up an assist on a Jeff Carter goal early in the second period before making an exit. McGinn has contributed 11 goals and seven assists in 56 games this season with 85 hits and 44 blocks. His injury will open a door for either Kasperi Kapanen or Dominik Simon to return to the line. Both players were scratched on Friday. The Penguins will be back in action on Sunday against Carolina.
Pittsburgh Penguins winger Brock McGinn had a goal and an assist in Wednesday's 4-1 triumph over Vancouver, getting to nine points for the year. The Penguins fourth line had a superb game, as Teddy Blueger collected two assists and Zach Aston-Reese also scored. McGinn has now scored twice during Pittsburgh's four-game winning streak. The 27-year-old has enjoyed some time among the top six this season because of injuries, but it's currently very difficult for him to move up in the lineup, and thus McGinn's fantasy value is non-existent, despite his recent scoring surge.
Carolina Hurricanes winger Brock McGinn recorded four points in Monday's 7-3 victory over Columbus, tallying two goals and two assists. He had three total shots in the game and finished as a plus-three in 11:05 on the ice. McGinn doesn't play much on a nightly basis, but he's been productive in limited minutes with a team-high seven goals and nine points in 13 outings. He was recently on a four-game goal streak, so you could say that McGinn is playing the best hockey of his career right now. The 26-year-old could be a useful piece for fantasy managers in deep leagues.
Carolina Hurricanes winger Brock McGinn scored the team's third goal in Thursday's 5-3 victory over Dallas, reaching a career-high four-game goal streak. He was plus-two for the game with two blocks in 17:47 of ice time. McGinn has provided good depth scoring for Carolina through the years, and he's currently the hottest goal-scorer in the league, as no other player sits on a four-game goal streak. Sadly he is more valuable in real life than in fantasy hockey, but it will be interesting to see how far he can take his current streak. The Hurricanes face Dallas again on Saturday.
