John Carlson Sets Up Three Goals Tuesday Night

Anaheim Ducks defenseman John Carlson produced three assists in Tuesday's 5-3 victory over the Vancouver Canucks. His playmaking made an impact twice during even-strength play in the second period, and he had a power-play assist in the third. The 36-year-old became the oldest blue-liner in the Ducks' history with a multi-assist period and a three-assist game. In 2025-26, Carlson has shown that age is just a number, amassing 50 points (10 goals, 40 assists) in 60 appearances. He is still looking for his first goal as a Duck, but Carlson has posted four assists in five games with his new team.

Ducks Acquire John Carlson

The Anaheim Ducks acquired defenseman John Carlson (lower body) from the Washington Capitals in exchange for a conditional first-round draft pick in 2026 or 2027, along with a 2027 third-round pick. This marks the end of an era in D.C., as Carlson has been part of the Capitals' defense since the 2009-10 season. He ranks second in franchise history with 1,143 regular-season games played and is also among Washington's all-time top scorers, with 771 points (166 goals, 605 assists). This season, Carlson has tallied 46 points (10 goals, 36 assists) in 55 games. Anaheim hopes to end a seven-year playoff drought and is getting a high-caliber defenseman to help the cause.

Terry has missed the last two games, while Granlund has sat out three contests. With Ryan Strome (illness) and Frank Vatrano (shoulder) also sidelined, the Ducks's offense relies on Leo Carlsson, Cutter Gauthier, and Beckett Sennecke.

Lukas Dostal Sets New Career High With 24th Win

Anaheim Ducks goaltender Lukas Dostal saved 32 of 34 shots in Sunday's 3-2 shootout victory over the Calgary Flames, establishing a new career high with his 24th win of the season. Dostal has gone 24-13-2 across 40 starts. He's the first Ducks netminder this decade with as many wins in a season. The Czech netminder has won each of his last five starts and is on an 11-1-0 run. Even with a modest .896 save percentage and a 2.97 goals-against average, Dostal is well-positioned for further success thanks to the Ducks' potent offense, which averages 3.25 goals per game.

He's made a huge impact this season, posting 44 points (18 goals, 26 assists) in 44 games. Granlund, who centered the first line during Carlsson's absence, was hurt while playing for Finland in Milan, but he could return to the lineup later this week. Anaheim Ducks left wing Chris Kreider lit the lamp twice as his team beat the Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 on Sunday. He boosted his production to six points in January, and his improvement in form appears set to continue in February. Despite his multi-week absence, Terry leads the Ducks with 29 assists and has 13 goals in 43 outings. He is set to slot into the second line and the second power-play unit on Sunday. The Ducks' attack could also get Mason McTavish (upper body) back against Vegas.

However, Ducks head coach Joel Quenneville is optimistic that McTavish can return to action at some point during the trip. With Leo Carlsson (thigh) also out, the Ducks are currently without their top two centers. Mikael Granlund and Jansen Harkins are expected to center the scoring lines against Seattle.
