Calen Addison A Game-Time Call Saturday

San Jose Sharks defenseman Calen Addison (lower body) is considered a game-time decision on Saturday against Vancouver. Addison was supposed to return to the lineup Thursday versus Arizona but ended up sitting out a second consecutive game. It now looks like there is a good chance Addison returns on Saturday. The 23-year-old is an offensively gifted rearguard, but Addison has struggled in San Jose. With 19 games played, he has posted only six points (one goal, five assists) while registering a minus-10 rating.

Calen Addison Exits Early Sunday

San Jose Sharks defenseman Calen Addison had to call it a night early against Colorado on Sunday after suffering a lower-body injury. He saw 8:46 of ice time during 14 shifts before exiting. Addison played his 19th game for the Sharks following his arrival from Minnesota. He's logged six points (one goal, five assists) with the team, adding 26 blocks on the defensive end. It's currently unclear if Addison will be available for Tuesday's matchup against Los Angeles.

Calen Addison Traded From Wild To Sharks

The Minnesota Wild have traded defenseman Calen Addison to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for forward Adam Raska and a 2026 fifth-round draft pick. The 23-year-old blueliner was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft but was traded to Minnesota in 2020 as part of a package for winger Jason Zucker. Addison enjoyed a solid rookie campaign last season, notching 29 points in 62 games. However, 18 of those points came on the power play while he posted a poor minus-17 rating and blocked only 38 shots in just 16:07 of average ice time. He has five assists in 12 games this season, three of which have come on the man advantage while he is a minus-three in his 16:48 of ice time per game. For his part, Ruska is without a point in seven AHL games this season and has zero points and seven penalty minutes across eight career NHL contests.

Calen Addison Traded To San Jose

The San Jose Sharks acquired defenseman Calen Addison from the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday. The return is a 2026 fifth-round pick and depth prospect Adam Raska, which seems light given Addison's prospect pedigree and the fact he was on Minnesota's top powerplay. He did struggle at five-on-five and wasn't playing many minutes, so the trade could be good for the 23-year-old since he should get more opportunity in San Jose. Expect him to take over the first powerplay quarterback role immediately. He is a deeper league option in points-only fantasy leagues.

Calen Addison Re-Signs With Wild For One Year

Minnesota Wild defenseman Calen Addison has finally inked a contract for the 2023-24 campaign, re-upping with the team for one year. The deal is worth $825,000. Addison was a restricted free agent after setting the franchise rookie record with 26 assists last season and notching 29 points in total across 62 appearances. The 23-year-old boasts bags of offensive ability, but his defensive shortcomings have resulted in him being dropped from the lineup at times. Addison should be aiming to prove this season that he can be effective at both ends of the ice to earn himself a bigger contract next offseason.

Calen Addison Back In Thursday

Minnesota Wild defenseman Calen Addison will be back from the press box Thursday against Columbus and return to the lineup after a four-game stint as a healthy scratch. The 22-year-old has been a liability defensively for the team and head coach Dave Evason has elected to keep him out of action for a bit, but Jon Merrill (illness) and Jonas Brodin (lower body) won't be available Thursday and there are bodies needed at the back. Addison has enjoyed a fine campaign offensively with 27 points in 52 games, although it also must be noted that 18 of his points have come on the power play. Dakota Mermis will also come into the Wild lineup Thursday.

Calen Addison Sits As Healthy Scratch

Minnesota Wild defenseman Calen Addison will be a healthy scratch for Wednesday's matchup against Colorado. The young defenseman is among the league's top-scoring rookies, but his defensive play has been lacking and head coach Dave Evason has once again run out of patience. Addison was also taken out of the lineup earlier in the season. The 22-year-old has tallied 27 points in 52 games but is also carrying a horrible minus-18 rating. He's minus-10 since the start of last month. Veteran Alex Goligoski is set to take Addison's spot Wednesday, with Jared Spurgeon moving to the first power-play unit.

Calen Addison Makes Wild History In Wednesday's Win

Minnesota Wild defenseman Calen Addison ended a scoring slump with a goal and two assists in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Lightning, becoming the first rookie blue-liner in franchise history to have multiple three-point games. Sitting on 19 points, Addison is the top-scoring first-year defenseman in the league, but he tends to be very erratic with his production. He had seven points in October and enjoyed a good scoring spurt at the start of December, but there have many dry spells, including prior to Wednesday's action when Addison had posted only one point in nine games. Addison's offensive contributions are tied to Minnesota's success on the power play, as the 21-year-old has tallied 13 of his points with the man advantage.

Calen Addison Sits As A Healthy Scratch

Minnesota Wild defenseman Calen Addison will have Friday night off as a healthy scratch. The 22-year-old is having a nice rookie campaign with 14 points in 25 games, but head coach Dave Evason has said that he wants to see Addison defend better. The young blue-liner will hope to get back into the lineup Saturday versus Vancouver. It appears that the empty spot in the team will be filled by Jonas Brodin (lower body) on Friday. He has missed the last four games, but Brodin worked with his usual partner Matt Dumba during the morning skate, which strongly suggests that he's back in for Friday's clash with the Oilers.
