Jakub Vrana Placed On Waivers

The St. Louis Blues have placed forward Jakub Vrana on unconditional waivers. Vrana has been a disappointment for the Blues this season, posting just six points (two goals, four assists) in 19 games. After he was acquired from the Detroit Red Wings late last season, he immediately provided a spark for the Blue, notching 10 goals in 20 games. Unfortunately, that success hasn't translated into this season and has resulted in healthy scratches from time to time. The Blues have decided to cut bait with the 27-year-old as a result, and time will tell if he finds his way onto a new team.

Jakub Vrana A Healthy Scratch Wednesday

St. Louis Blues forward Jakub Vrana will come out of the lineup and serve as a healthy scratch when his club takes on the Arizona Coyotes on Wednesday. It's not the first time this season the 27-year-old has been a healthy scratch this season as he also came out of the lineup for an October contest versus the Calgary Flames. It's been a tough season for Vrana after some brief success following a move to St. Louis from Detroit last season. The former first-round pick tallied 10 goals and 14 points in 20 games with the Blues last season but has just two goals and eight points in 15 games this season while seeing his ice time dip to just 12:21 per game, a near three-minute drop from his time with St. Louis a season ago.

Jakub Vrana Scratched On Thursday

St. Louis Blues left wing Jakub Vrana will come out of the lineup Thursday as a healthy scratch. The Blues have decided to go with seven defensemen against Calgary, and Vrana is a casualty of the change. The 27-year-old had a good start to the campaign with three points in three games, but he's fired blanks in the most recent two outings and was limited to only 9:12 of ice time last time out against the Jets. Alexey Toropchenko will skate in Vrana's spot on the third line. Defenseman Tyler Tucker is also getting scratched for the contest, with Robert Bortuzzo and Scott Perunovich coming into the lineup.

Jakub Vrana Enjoying Good Preseason With Blues

St. Louis Blues left wing Jakub Vrana is trying to resurrect his career on a new team and has looked promising. After finishing 2022-23 in St. Louis, posting 14 points (10 goals, four assists) in 20 games, Vrana has tallied points in all of his three preseason outings ahead of the new campaign. He was involved in all goals in Monday's 5-3 loss to Columbus and boasts three goals and two assists in total. Following some personal issues, Vrana looks to have landed in a good situation for himself, and he could make a big impact when the real action starts soon.

Jakub Vrana Wins It For Blues Tuesday

St. Louis Blues left wing Jakub Vrana hit two goals, including the game-winner, in Tuesday's entertaining 6-5 overtime victory against Vancouver. He made it 3-2 in the second period and popped up with the decisive goal just 28 seconds into the extra frame. Vrana now has eight goals through his first 12 outings for St. Louis. He's had a very difficult period in his career, but the 27-year-old has proven that he still has what it takes to be a very impactful player in the league. The Czech winger has also tallied two assists with his new team and now boasts 12 points in 17 games for the whole campaign.

Blues Acquire Jakub Vrana

The St. Louis Blues have acquired left wing Jakub Vrana from the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for forward Dylan McLaughlin and a seventh-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft. Vrana is in the second season of a three-year contract he signed with the Red Wings in August of 2021 and can become an unrestricted free agent after next season. It is a low risk move for the Blues as the 27-year-old was formerly a 20-goal scorer in back-to-back seasons with the Capitals in the two seasons following their Stanley Cup win in 2018. Vrana will have a chance to bounce back on the Blues as he has shown his ability to contribute at the NHL level and the forward is worth adding in deeper formats and keeper leagues.

Jakub Vrana Makes His Comeback Tuesday

Detroit Red Wings left wing Jakub Vrana will replace Filip Zadina in the lineup Tuesday against Washington. This is going to be only the third game of the season for the former Capital and the first since Vrana had a stint in the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program. The 26-year-old was waived in January and he's been playing for Detroit's AHL affiliate since late December. Vrana has heated up lately in the minors with a run of four goals and four assists in six games. He's also a proven scorer on the NHL level, but fantasy managers shouldn't expect a lot from him on Tuesday, as Vrana will enter the lineup only as a fourth-liner.

Jakub Vrana Clears Waivers

Detroit Red Wings left wing Jakub Vrana cleared waivers on Wednesday after the team waived him on Tuesday. The 26-year-old has missed all but two games this season and entered the NHL/NHLPA's player assistance program on Oct. 19. He was reinstated on Dec. 16 and has been on a conditioning stint in the AHL, but it looks like he will now remain there for a while, with the team having assigned him to the minors after he cleared waivers. Various issues have limited Vrana to just 39 appearances for the Red Wings since he arrived from Washington in April 2021. It appears that he doesn't have a future in Motown anymore, although Vrana still has a year remaining on his contract. It won't be easy to move him either, with Vrana having a 5,250,000 cap hit, and it's pretty telling that teams passed on him when Vrana was available for free.

Jakub Vrana Returns To Practice

Detroit Red Wings left wing Jakub Vrana (personal) was back in practice Friday and could soon rejoin the lineup after being reinstated by the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program. Vrana entered the program on Oct. 19 after playing in just two games this season. He has now graduated to the follow-up care phase of his recovery and is eligible to play again. Head coach Derek Lalonde said on Friday that Vrana is considered day-to-day. Getting back a guy who has averaged 0.82 points per game for the team would be a great addition for a side that's ranked only 24th in the league in goals per game.

Jakub Vrana Enters Player Assistance Program

Detroit Red Wings left wing Jakub Vrana has been placed in the NHL and NHLPA's player assistance program, and the 26-year-old is set to be out indefinitely. This is a bad blow for Detroit, especially with Tyler Bertuzzi (upper body) also dropping out of the lineup, but hopefully Vrana receives the help that he needs and can return to action when he's ready. The season had started well for Vrana with two points in two games. Detroit's lineup issues have lifted Dominik Kubalik to the first line and Filip Zadina has also joined the top six.

Jakub Vrana Replaces Robby Fabbri On Second Line

Detroit Red Wings left wing Jakub Vrana will move up to the second line for Saturday's encounter with the Flames, replacing Robby Fabbri, who suffered a season-ending knee injury earlier in the week. Vrana will team up with Joe Veleno and Sam Gagner, who both should get a nice boost from his presence. Vrana made his season debut at the start of the week and has fired in three goals in two appearances. He's notched 11 goals and 14 points in 13 games since joining the team and no other player in franchise history has reached double figures in goals so quickly.

Jakub Vrana Scores In Season Debut

Detroit Red Wings left wing Jakub Vrana marked his season debut with a goal in Tuesday's 9-2 loss to Arizona. He struck on the power play 17:00 into the second period. Vrana, who was sidelined by shoulder surgery, logged 15:44 in his first game back from injury and had three shots on total with four hits and a minus-one rating. The Czech winger looks set to play a big part for Detroit for the rest of the season and fantasy managers should see if he's available in their leagues.

Jakub Vrana Making Season Debut For Red Wings

Detroit Red Wings winger Jakub Vrana (shoulder) is set to make his season debut on Tuesday against the visiting Arizona Coyotes. The 26-year-old Czech product sustained a shoulder injury during training camp that required surgery, and he has not played in a game since May 8 of last year. After being acquired from the Washington Capitals during the truncated 2021 season, Vrana registered 11 points (eight goals, three assists) in 11 games played for the Red Wings. He is projected to start on a line with Tyler Bertuzzi and Pius Suter on Tuesday evening.

Jakub Vrana Out Four Months After Shoulder Surgery

Detroit Red Wings forward Jakub Vrana will be sidelined for at least the next four months with a shoulder injury. The 25-year-old reportedly sustained the ailment on the first day of training camp and will soon undergo surgery. Vrana's injury news comes at a tough time for Detroit as the electric winger was arguably the team's best player after getting acquired from the Capitals at last season's trade deadline. The Czech native was a point-per-game (11 points in 11 games) with Detroit and posted the 36 points (19 goals, 17 assists), a plus-10 rating and 100 shots in 50 total games in 2020-2021. Expect forward Robby Fabbri to play an even bigger role at even-strength and on the man advantage with Vrana out.

Jakub Vrana Could Miss The Start Of The Upcoming Season

With a shoulder injury, Detroit Red Wings winger Jakub Vrana could be out for the start of the 2021-2022 season. Vrana had a solid campaign after being traded to Detroit from Washington. With the Capitals, the Czech Republic native competed in 39 contests, recording 25 points. After being dealt to the Red Wings, Vrana was a point a game player. He produced eight goals while adding three helpers in 11 contests. The winger will most likely be slotted on the team's first line. Although Detroit should be improved from last season, don't expect them to make a ton of noise in the Atlantic Division. However, the-25-year should be provided with plenty of opportunities to be a top player for the Red Wings. Regarding fantasy hockey, Jakub Vrana should be considered a player to draft in later rounds if a winger is needed.

Jakub Vrana Signs Extension With Detroit

The Detroit Red Wings have come to terms with forward Jakub Vrana on a three-year, $15.75 million contract ($5.25 million average annual value). With the new deal, both sides will avoid an arbitration hearing that was set earlier this month for the former restricted free agent. Acquired in a trade deadline deal with Washington in exchange for forward Anthony Mantha, Vrana was a point-per-game player (eight goals, three assists in 11 games) with the Wings and he also posted a plus-one rating and 32 shots while averaging the most ice time of his career (17:16 time-on-ice per game). The 25-year-old is a core piece to Detroit's rebuild and should be targeted in the mid to late rounds of fantasy drafts this fall.

Jakub Vrana Leads Wings To Friday Victory

Detroit Red Wings forward Jakub Vrana scored the game-winning goal and added a primary assist as his team posted a 5-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night. In addition to the two-point performance, the 25-year-old finished his night with a power-play point, two shots and one hit in just 13:52 of ice time in the contest. Acquired at the trade deadline from Washington, Vrana has been excellent while wearing his new sweater - posting nine points (seven goals, two assists), a plus-two rating and 25 shots while averaging 17:02 of ice time per game. A proven goal scorer, Vrana should be an attractive late-round pick in fantasy drafts this upcoming fall.

Jakub Vrana Scores Lone Red Wings Goal Thursday Night

Detroit Red Wings left wing Jakub Vrana provided the only goal in Thursday's 3-1 loss to Carolina, netting a spectacular unassisted marker 17:31 into the second period. The former Washington winger now has six goals in seven games for his new team with one assist and 19 shots. The Czech Republic native boasts 17 goals and 32 points in 46 outings for the whole campaign ahead of Detroit's final four games of the season. The first two are extremely tough against Tampa, but next week's two-game set against Columbus should provide Vrana a chance to end the year with a bang.

Jakub Vrana Explodes For Four Goals Versus Dallas

Detroit Red Wings left wing Jakub Vrana pretty much beat the Stars on his own Thursday night, scoring four goals in a 7-3 victory. He became the 10th Red Wings player since 1990-91 to get at least four goals in a game. Vrana had six total shots on the night and finished with a plus-four rating. He has five goals and six points through his first four games for the team with 10 shots. The talented winger is up to 16 goals and 31 points for the whole season. He will look to complete the week with another productive outing against Dallas on Saturday.

Jakub Vrana Sits Out On Monday With Illness

Detroit Red Wings left wing Jakub Vrana won't be in the lineup on Monday against Dallas, missing the game with a non-COVID-related illness. Evgeny Svechnikov takes over his spot on the top line. Vrana, who arrived from Washington a week ago, scored in his Red Wings debut and has recorded four shots and an even rating in his first two games for the team. His minutes have gone up big time, and the Czech winger could play a big role in many fantasy playoffs this season. He needs to get healthy first, though.
