John Gibson Fine for Saturday

Detroit Red Wings goaltender John Gibson (upper body) practiced on Friday and will be available for Saturday's contest against the Buffalo Sabres, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports. Gibson's availability for the game was uncertain after he left Thursday's victory over the Anaheim Ducks early. While Gibson has been deemed healthy to play, Red Wings head coach Todd McLellan didn't say on Friday whether Gibson or Cam Talbot would start Saturday's game. Gibson has amassed a 4-5-0 record across 10 starts, allowing 3.14 goals with a .882 save percentage.

John Gibson Exits With Upper-Body Injury Thursday

Detroit Red Wings goaltender John Gibson (upper body) exited Thursday's 6-3 victory over the Anaheim Ducks after two periods. This was a special night for Gibson, who made over 500 appearances for the Ducks before moving to Motown. Unfortunately, he had to leave the action early after sustaining an upper-body injury. In the game, Gibson stopped 15 of 17 shots before exiting. Cam Talbot took over the net, saving 10 of 11 shots and earning the victory. Gibson's record for the season is 4-5-0, with a goals-against average of 3.14 and a save percentage of .882. If Gibson must miss time, the Ducks will rely heavily on Talbot, who has a 6-2-0 record.

Red Wings Acquire John Gibson

The Detroit Red Wings have acquired goaltender John Gibson from the Anaheim Ducks, giving up goaltender Petr Mrazek, a 2027 second-round pick, and a 2026 fourth-round pick in the transaction. Gibson leaves Anaheim after making over 500 regular-season appearances with the Ducks. He finished the 2024-25 campaign with an 11-11-2 record, making just 28 starts due to health issues. Injuries have impacted Gibson throughout his career, but he could be a smart pickup for the Red Wings, who have historically been disappointed by goaltending. In the past three seasons, the team has not ranked higher than 18th in save percentage.

John Gibson Out On Monday

Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson (lower body) will remain out on Monday against the Edmonton Oilers. The oft-injured netminder is currently nursing a lower-body ailment, which will force him to miss a second consecutive game. Overall, Gibson has made only 28 starts this season, posting an 11-11-2 record. He has allowed 2.77 goals per game with a .912 save percentage. While Gibson has performed well, he often struggles to stay healthy for long, which hampers Anaheim's chances of becoming competitive again. Lukas Dostal, with a record of 22-21-6 for the year, is expected to be the starter for Monday's game, with Ville Husso serving as the backup.

John Gibson Exits Early On Thursday

Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson (lower body) was unable to finish Thursday's contest against the Calgary Flames. He was able to log just over 39 minutes of ice time before being replaced by Lukas Dostal. He stopped 23 of the 26 shots he saw and took the loss. The 31-year-old has dealt with numerous injuries throughout the campaign and could be in danger of missing the remainder of the season if the injury is deemed serious. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status leading up to their next game on Saturday against the Vancouver Canucks. Through 29 contests this season, Gibson has held an 11-11-2 record with a modest 2.77 GAA and a .911 save percentage.

John Gibson A Game-Time Call Tuesday

Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson (lower body) is considered a game-time decision for Tuesday's clash against the Dallas Stars. He is set to dress as the backup if cleared for action. Gibson last played on March 5 against the Vancouver Canucks, falling out of the lineup due to a lower-body injury. During his absence, Lukas Dostal has shared the netminding duties with Ville Husso. In 25 starts, Gibson has managed a 9-10-2 record this season, registering a 2.82 goals-against average with a .910 save percentage. Four of his wins came in his first five starts of the season, so it has not been a fun ride for the Pittsburgh native in 2024-25.

John Gibson Still Out On Sunday

Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson (lower body) will be unavailable for a sixth consecutive game on Sunday against the St. Louis Blues. At the start of the week, reports indicated that Gibson had been cleared to return to the lineup, but the Ducks have continued to navigate the 2024-25 season without him. Gibson has a 9-10-2 record for the campaign, allowing 2.82 goals with a .910 save percentage. Lukas Dostal, who is sporting a 20-17-5 record, has received heavy usage during Gibson's absence and will make another start in Sunday's contest.

John Gibson Available For Tuesday's Matchup

Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson (lower body) will be back in the lineup on Tuesday against the Washington Capitals. He has missed a pair of games due to a lower-body injury. It looks like Anaheim plans to use Gibson as a backup on Tuesday, as Lukas Dostal was in the starter's crease during the morning skate. Gibson is sporting a 9-10-2 record for the season with a 2.82 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage. If he doesn't return to action on Tuesday, there's a strong chance we will see Gibson on Wednesday as the Ducks wrap up a back-to-back against the Utah Hockey Club.

John Gibson Exits Early On Wednesday

Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson (upper body) exited Wednesday's contest early with an upper-body injury. Gibson logged just over 30 minutes of ice time before being replaced by Lukas Dostal. Before leaving, Gibson stopped 19 of the 21 shots he faced. Over his previous four contests, the 31-year-old has struggled as he has held a high 3.02 GAA with a .890 save percentage. As a result, fantasy managers should expect Dostal to control the starter's crease for the foreseeable future if this injury is serious. In his brief relief appearance, he stopped 14 of the 15 shots he saw. Before Wednesday, Dostal held an impressive 7-1 record over his last contests with a 2.59 GAA and a .923 save percentage. Dostal will likely get the starting nod against the St. Louis Blues on Friday evening.

John Gibson Exits Early With Upper-Body Injury

Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson (upper body) exited early during Saturday's contest with an injury. Before exiting, Gibson stopped 19 of the 20 shots he faced against the Boston Bruins. The backup netminder, Lukas Dostal, entered the game in the third period and stopped nine of the 10 shots he saw en route to clinching the victory. Fantasy managers should monitor Gibson's status, but given that the Ducks play on Sunday evening, he will likely be unavailable. As a result, Dostal is expected to get the starting nod against the Red Wings. Over his previous six starts, Gibson has only allowed more than two goals on one occasion. During this stretch, he has held a .944 save percentage with a 1.82 GAA. Dostal holds a .964 percent save percentage over his last two outings and would be a viable DFS play against Detroit.

John Gibson Exits Early On Saturday

According to the team, Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson (upper body) exited early during Saturday's contest against the Nashville Predators. Gibson stopped nine of the 10 shots he faced in the opening frame, but Lukas Dostal took over for the final two frames. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor the 31-year-old's status leading up to their next contest on Tuesday evening against the Seattle Kraken. In his previous start, Gibson stopped 31 of the 32 shots he faced en route to defeating the Pittsburgh Penguins. However, prior to this strong showing, Gibson posted a .889% SV and a 3.69 GAA over his previous three contests. If Gibson were to miss time, Dostal would see the majority of the starts going forward in the Anaheim crease.

John Gibson Busy In Overtime Loss

Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson surrendered three goals on 32 shots in their overtime loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Friday evening. The Ducks got out to a two-goal lead, but the Sabres evened the score late in the second frame with goals by Alex Tuch and Jason Zucker. Then, in overtime, Jiri Kulich sealed the victory for Buffalo. Since making his season debut on November 10, Gibson has carried a solid .906 SV% and 2.71 GAA with a 3-0-1 record. Given his strong play, fantasy managers should expect Gibson and Luka Dostal to continue to split time in the crease, with the veteran likely seeing the slight edge in playing time. After getting out to an impressive start, Dostal has now posted a .890 SV% over his past five games. Gibson's next start tentatively will be on Monday when the Ducks welcome the Seattle Kraken.

John Gibson Beats Blue Jackets In Season Debut

Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson made a winning debut to the season, defeating the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-2 on Sunday. He stopped 38 of 40 shots to produce a fantastic .950 save percentage. Gibson sat out the first month of action due to an appendectomy. With Gibson out of commission, Lukas Dostal has carried a heavy workload. Dostal started the campaign in wonderful form but has lost momentum lately. It will be interesting to see how the goaltending situation in Anaheim unfolds. The Ducks also have veteran James Reimer in their ranks.

John Gibson Ruled Out For 3-6 Weeks After Emergency Appendectomy

Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson will be out for 3-6 weeks after undergoing an emergency appendectomy on Wednesday night. The timeline means Gibson will miss the first games of the season at a minimum. With him out, Lukas Dostal is set to begin the year as Anaheim's No. 1. The 24-year-old has shown good upside but had a 14-23-3 record playing behind a poor team in 2023-24. He will be backed up by Danish veteran Oscar Dansk, who signed a two-way contract with the Ducks earlier in the month. Dansk last appeared in the NHL during the 2020-21 campaign.

John Gibson Suffers New Injury Blow

Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson skipped the third period of Thursday's 5-1 win over Ottawa with an upper-body injury. Before getting hurt, Gibson performed well and saved all 15 shots he faced. Lukas Dostal took over the crease after the second intermission and finished with 18 saves on 19 shots. Gibson logged the victory and is now 11-19-1 for the season. The injury-prone netminder has produced a 2.98 goals-against average and sits on a .903 save percentage. Dostal, who is sporting an 8-13-1 record, will likely make his 21st start of the campaign on Saturday versus Toronto if Gibson doesn't recover in time for the game.

John Gibson Exits Loss With Upper-Body Injury

Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson didn't finish Thursday's 6-3 loss to Carolina after suffering an upper-body injury. He exited the contest before the third period began, finishing with 20 saves on 25 shots. Lukas Dostal stopped eight of nine shots as his replacement in the third. Gibson is a very injury-prone player, and unfortunately, it looks like he could again face a spell on the sidelines. It would be a blow for the Ducks, although Dostal has played well this season. He recently posted a franchise record with a 55-save effort against Toronto and has a 7-9-1 record for the campaign with a 3.46 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage.

John Gibson Misses Monday's Game To Attend Birth Of Child

Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson (personal) was absent from Monday's game due to the birth of his child. Gibson was taken out of Saturday's game due to illness, so hopefully he is feeling better in time for his child's birth. The Ducks don't play until Thursday against Calgary, so Gibson should be back and will likely start that game. Although the veteran is 6-13 on the season, he hasn't played poorly, holding onto a 2.85 GAA, .906 SV%, and 1.3 GSAA in 21 games. He isn't much of a fantasy asset because of the lack of wins, but in leagues where volume matters he can help out.

John Gibson Exits Game Due To Illness

Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson couldn't complete Sunday's game against New Jersey due to an illness. Despite feeling under the weather, Gibson performed admirably in the two periods he played, stopping 18 of 19 shots. Lukas Dostal replaced him for the final frame and helped the team secure an impressive 5-1 road victory. Anaheim faces another game on Monday versus Detroit. Dostal was likely penciled in for the start in the contest, but Sunday's events might have changed the situation.

John Gibson Out On Wednesday

Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson (upper body) will sit out Wednesday's tilt against the Coyotes. He was injured in Monday's 4-3 win over Pittsburgh, giving the crease over to Lukas Dostal. Before getting hurt, Gibson had just recorded his first win of the season, and he's 1-3-0 overall with a 2.82 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage. Dostal has opened the campaign by going 4-1-0, and he was named Rookie of the Month for October on Wednesday. The Czech netminder could now get a few extra runs in between the pipes with Gibson unavailable. He will make his fifth start of the year Wednesday night, with Alex Stalock working as his backup.

John Gibson Sustains An Upper-Body Injury

Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson was knocked out from Monday's 4-3 win over Pittsburgh by an upper-body injury. He played only the first period against his hometown team, allowing one goal on seven shots. Gibson has started the season with a 1-3-0 run, and a fresh injury blow will be further cause for frustration to him. The team has yet to announce the severity of Gibson's injury. Lukas Dostal played well in Gibson's absence on Monday and will get extra burn if Anaheim's No. 1 has to spend some time on the sidelines. Dostal stopped 33 of 35 pucks versus the Penguins and now carries an impressive 4-1-0 record.
