Martin Pospisil Makes Season Debut Wednesday

Calgary Flames forward Martin Pospisil (undisclosed) will make his first appearance of the season in Wednesday's matchup against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Slovakian forward suffered an undisclosed injury in a preseason game. On Tuesday, Calgary activated Pospisil from long-term Injured Reserve, and he practiced on a line with Adam Klapka and Ryan Lomberg. Last season, Pospisil was tied for third in the league with 301 hits and posted 25 points (four goals, 21 assists) in 81 appearances. He will struggle to make a fantasy impact on the fourth line, but managers should monitor him in case Pospisil moves up the lineup.

Martin Pospisil Placed on Injured Reserve

Calgary Flames forward Martin Pospisil (undisclosed) was placed on Injured Reserve on Monday, making him ineligible for the start of the season. The Flame begin their campaign on Wednesday night against the Edmonton Oilers. Pospisil was injured in a preseason contest against the Vancouver Canucks on Oct. 1. He was able to practice the next day but was hurt during the session. Calgary will also be without Jonathan Huberdeau (undisclosed) on Wednesday. As a result of the absences, Joel Farabee is expected to begin the season on the first line, and Matvei Gridin is also set to receive a big opportunity in a top-six role.

Martin Pospisil Signs Three-Year Extension

Calgary Flames forward Martin Pospisil has signed a three-year, $7.5 million contract extension that will start with the 2026-27 season. Pospisil could have become a restricted free agent after the upcoming campaign. Calgary picked Pospisil in the fourth round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, and he has been a regular on the team for the past two seasons. In 2024-25, Pospisil scored 25 points (four goals, 21 assists) in 81 games and tied New York Rangers forward Will Cuylle for the third-most hits in the league with 301. Pospisil's physicality certainly makes him valuable in some fantasy leagues, but he isn't a must-have player.

Martin Pospisil Misses Third Consecutive Practice

Calgary Flames forward Martin Pospisil (lower body) missed a third consecutive practice session on Saturday. He is considered day-to-day with a lower-body injury. Pospisil tallied 24 points (eight goals, 16 assists) in 63 games with 238 hits during his rookie year last season. After previously featuring as a winger on the team, Pospisil is battling for a middle-six center position in training camp. The injury has come at a bad time for him, but Pospisil might still get some action in ahead of the new season next week when Calgary completes its preseason with a meeting against Seattle and a pair of games versus Winnipeg.

The suspension will start with Thursday's matchup against Tampa Bay, and Pospisil will be eligible to return to action on March 12 versus Colorado. The 24-year-old rookie has collected 15 points (six goals, nine assists) in 45 appearances this season.
