Rasmus Sandin A Game-Time Call Friday

Washington Capitals defenseman Rasmus Sandin (upper body) will be a game-time decision for Friday's encounter with the Rangers. After missing seven games with an upper-body injury, Sandin skated in a regular jersey Friday morning, signaling that he could be ready to return to action. The Swedish blue-liner would add quality for Washington at both ends of the ice. He totaled 23 points (three goals, 20 assists) in 68 regular-season appearances and had 106 blocks with 75 hits.

Rasmus Sandin Skates In Non-Contact Jersey Monday

Washington Capitals defenseman Rasmus Sandin (upper body) skated in a non-contact jersey on Monday for the first time since suffering an upper-body injury in an April 7 contest against the Ottawa Senators. The Swede was ruled out for the remainder of the regular season following his injury, and the Caps have just two games remaining. If the Capitals qualify for the postseason, Sandin is an option for Game 1, according to head coach Spencer Carbery. "For sure," Carbery said. "First day back on the ice for him, and even [Nick Jensen] being in the facility, I think, took a positive step. Didn't skate today, but back in here and working his way back." The Capitals currently occupy the second and final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference with 87 points but are also tied in points with the Red Wings and Flyers, who currently own the final playoff spot due to the most regulation wins between those three clubs. The Penguins sit one point behind with two games to go.

Rasmus Sandin Could Miss The Rest Of The Regular Season

Washington Capitals defenseman Rasmus Sandin (upper body) will not be available for the team's upcoming two-game road trip and could potentially miss the team's final five regular-season contests. The Swede was injured on a hit from Senators forward Parker Kelly on Sunday and did not practice with the team on Monday. "Possible, but we'll see," Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery said in regards to the possibility of Sandin missing the remainder of the regular season. "Definitely not on the road trip, not traveling." The Capitals have a crucial matchup in Detroit on Tuesday, as they sit just a single point behind the Red Wings for the second and final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.

Rasmus Sandin To Miss "Some Time" Following Sunday's Exit

Washington Capitals defenseman Rasmus Sandin is expected to miss "some time" after he was injured on Sunday versus Ottawa. The Swedish blue-liner suffered an upper-body injury on a hard hit from Senators forward Parker Kelly. Sandin was limited to 7:09 of ice time on Sunday. The 24-year-old went scoreless for a seventh consecutive game, but he's done a decent job helping out on offense in general, with 23 points (three goals, 20 assists) amassed across 68 games. Sandin also boasts 75 hits and 106 blocks. Washington has five more games left in the regular season.

Rasmus Sandin Inks Five-Year Extension With Capitals

The Washington Capitals and defenseman Rasmus Sandin have agreed to a five-year, $23 million contract extension. The deal comes just one day before his 24th birthday as Sandin was scheduled to be a restricted free agent at season's end. "I'm very excited," Sandin said. "I'm very happy it got done at this time too, even though we have a lot of time left to work with. But very happy it got done and very excited to be here for ultimately five more years. The Swede was acquired by the Capitals on Feb. 28, 2023 from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for defenseman Erik Gustafsson and a first-round pick. He has three goals and 20 points on 66 shots across 52 games in his first full season with the Capitals.

Rasmus Sandin Expected Back On Tuesday

Washington Capitals defenseman Rasmus Sandin (upper body) has come off Injured Reserve and is set to re-enter the lineup Tuesday against Minnesota. The Swedish rearguard has been absent for eight games. Sandin has struggled to perform at his best in 2023-24, but he should still provide some extra offensive quality to the Washington team. He's gone goalless in 36 appearances but boasts 11 assists. Sandin is projected to skate with Nick Jensen on the second defensive pairing, and we should also see him with the man advantage, as Sandin has averaged 1:12 of power-play time for the season.

Rasmus Sandin Won't Play Friday Due To Illness

Washington Capitals defenseman Rasmus Sandin (illness) will not play in Friday's matchup against the Carolina Hurricanes. Sandin is the latest NHLer who has caught the nasty bug that has been spreading around the league for the last month or so, and it will force him to miss at least one game. The timing is tough for Sandin, who had just begun to get going, notching five points (five assists) in his last five games. He was a fairly popular waiver wire add this week with the Capitals playing four off-night games, so fantasy managers who have him may have to pivot elsewhere for the weekend.

Rasmus Sandin Questionable For Friday

Washington Capitals defenseman Rasmus Sandin (undisclosed) is considered questionable for Friday's action against Minnesota. He was back on the ice Friday morning after exiting Wednesday's matchup against New Jersey with an unspecified injury, but Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery said it's uncertain if Sandin will be good to go for the contest. Sandin has been logging second-pairing minutes for Washington but hasn't got anything to show for his efforts offensively so far, having gone scoreless in six games. The former Maple Leaf is also tied for the team-worst mark with a minus-four rating.

Rasmus Sandin Injured On Wednesday

Washington Capitals defenseman Rasmus Sandin left Wednesday's 6-4 win over New Jersey early after sustaining an undisclosed injury. He logged 17:43 of ice time in the contest, leaving after taking a big hit from Devils defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler. Sadin has been quiet to start the year, and an injury layoff would be a further blow for him. He has gone scoreless in six games, registering a plus-minus rating on Washington's second defensive pairing. The Swedish blue-liner has also been part of the second power-play unit, meaning Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery will be forced into quite significant changes if Sandin needs to skip some games.

Rasmus Sandin Debuts For Washington With Three Assists

Washington Capitals defenseman Rasmus Sandin had a dream debut for the team on Saturday against San Jose, helping out with three assists in an 8-3 win. Craig Smith, T.J. Oshie and Alex Ovechkin benefited from Sandin's work, with Oshie scoring on the power play. The former Maple Leaf became the first Capitals defenseman to notch three points in his debut and only the seventh skater in total. Sandin, who also had one block and three hits in the game, logged 21:40 of ice time, leading all Capitals blue-liners with 2:55 of power-play time. He looks set for a big finish to the campaign, especially if John Carlson (face) can't return.

Rasmus Sandin Ruled Out For Sunday

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Rasmus Sandin (undisclosed) has been ruled out from Sunday's meeting with Chicago. He appears to be a bit banged up and will rest as the team completes a back-to-back. Sandin has been on fire in recent games, putting together back-to-back multi-point performances. He has amassed 20 points in 51 games overall for the season with 57 shots, 113 hits and 57 blocks. Conor Timmins will fill the empty spot in the lineup Sunday.

Rasmus Sandin Out On Tuesday

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Rasmus Sandin (illness) won't be available for Tuesday's matchup against Florida. A flu bug has been going around in the Toronto locker room and Sandin is one of its latest victims. He was able to take the ice Tuesday morning after missing Monday's practice session, but the Swedish blue-liner won't be ready to play. Sandin has notched 15 points in 40 games this season, adding 44 shots, 89 hits and 45 blocks to his account. Veteran Jordie Benn is expected to take his spot in the lineup Tuesday.

Rasmus Sandin Expected Back On Tuesday

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Rasmus Sandin (neck) is expected to return to the lineup Tuesday against St. Louis. He has watched the last four games from the sidelines due to a neck issue. Sandin is enjoying a nice campaign at both ends of the ice, having tallied 14 points in 33 games with 33 shots, 74 hits and 38 blocks. He has mostly worked with Timothy Liljegren, and the duo was reunited in Monday's practice. Conor Timmins looks to be the odd man out at the back Tuesday.

Rasmus Sandin Ruled Out For Thursday

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Rasmus Sandin (neck) won't play Thursday against Philadelphia. He exited Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Lightning with a neck problem and needs more time to be evaluated. Sandin has played a big part for Toronto in recent weeks, and it's been a good campaign for him overall with 14 points, 33 shots, 74 hits and 38 blocks recorded with a plus-seven rating in 33 games. Jordie Benn is set to take over from Sandin on the second defensive pairing. Following Thursday's action, the team heads into the holiday break, so it's possible Sandin will miss only one game.

Rasmus Sandin Exits With A Neck Injury

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Rasmus Sandin left Tuesday's 4-1 win over Tampa Bay with a neck injury. He managed to pick up a power-play assist in 8:30 of action before leaving. Head coach Sheldon Keefe said postgame that Sandin was pulled from the game for precautionary reasons, which is positive, but it's not known if the Swedish blue-liner will be ready for Thursday's encounter with Philadelphia. With the defense suffering a number of injuries, Sandin has played a big part for the Maple Leafs this season, registering 14 points in 33 games with 33 shots, 74 hits and 38 blocks.

Rasmus Sandin Ends Contract Standoff With Maple Leafs

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Rasmus Sandin has finally signed a contract for the upcoming NHL season, inking a two-year, $2.8 million deal. Sadin has missed the start of training camp because of the contract standoff, but he's now set to join the team and will travel to Toronto from his native Sweden on Friday. The 22-year-old will be hopeful of locking down a top-four spot on the Toronto blue line this season. He's notched 28 points in 88 career games but should become more productive with regular top-four minutes. Sandin could find himself in a very big role at the start of the season, as the Maple Leafs have suffered a number of injuries at the back.

Rasmus Sandin Sits Out Saturday's Game

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Rasmus Sandin (illness) won't take the ice on Saturday against Vancouver. The young rearguard has missed a couple of practices with an illness and needs some more time to recover. Sandin has done very well in recent games, scoring in back-to-back outings. He's on four goals and 15 points overall for the season with 47 games played. Timothy Liljegren will get back into the lineup on Saturday and partner Morgan Rielly on the first defensive pairing.

Rasmus Sandin Will Not Play Against Coyotes

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Rasmus Sandin is a healthy scratch for Wednesday night's game against the Coyotes. The 21-year-old has recorded nine assists through 29 games on the season while collecting a plus-six rating on the Maple Leafs third defensive pairing. Timothy Liljegren will take Sandin's place in the lineup, but both young defensemen can be ignored across standard fantasy formats.
