Matt Roy News
Los Angeles Kings defenseman Matt Roy (lower body) has been activated from Injured Reserve and appears set to play Thursday against Edmonton. He hasn't played since Mar. 12, sitting out 12 games. Roy has had a solid season with 17 points, 140 shots, 104 hits and 87 blocks in 58 games. He was logging some very heavy minutes before getting injured and should face a busy time straight away in his return, with the Kings still missing Drew Doughty (undisclosed), Mikey Anderson (upper body) and Sean Walker (knee) from the back. Kings forward Brendan Lemieux (lower body) has also come off Injured Reserve ahead of Thursday's action.
Los Angeles Kings defenseman Matt Roy picked up a lower-body injury and wasn't able to finish Saturday's 5-0 loss to the Sharks. He exited in the second period, finishing with 14:38 of ice time. The Kings have another outing on Sunday against Florida and Roy should be considered very questionable for the game. The injury comes at an awful time for Roy, as he had just started to log some heavy minutes again with Drew Doughty (undisclosed) on the shelf. The 26-year-old rearguard has bagged 17 points in 58 games this season, adding 60 blocks and 53 hits.
Los Angeles Kings defenseman Matt Roy loves to shoot the puck. He has 12 assists in 32 games but something is missing. That is goals. Roy still has none on the season despite the six shots and four scoring chances generated on Thursday against Vancouver. Roy now has no goals on 89 shots this season. At some point, the goals will come. Roy is averaging nearly two blocked shots a game and two hits a game of late. With his ice time approaching 22 minutes a night. The Kings' defenseman is being relied on more and more to produce and he has mostly not disappointed.
Los Angeles Kings defenseman Matt Roy delivered two assists as the team skated to a 3-2 victory over Washington on Sunday. He tallied both of his helpers in the third period when the Kings turned a 2-1 deficit into a win. Christian Wolanin and Adrian Kempe scored the goals. Roy had produced some good numbers this season with 11 points, 79 shots, 43 hits and 55 blocks to his name with 30 games played. He had five blocks alone in Sunday's win with three hits.
