Matt Roy Ready To Return On Wednesday

Washington Capitals defenseman Matt Roy (lower body) is expected to return from a 10-game absence when the team faces Nashville on Wednesday. The 29-year-old makes his return at a good time because the Capitals defense has just lost Jakob Chychrun (upper body). Chychrun's absence means that we should see a lot of Roy in Wednesday's game. Roy has the potential to make an impact at both ends. He tallied 25 points (five goals, 20 assists) in 81 games with the Kings last season while also recording 197 blocks and 152 hits. He will work with Rasmus Sandin on the second defensive pairing versus Nashville.

Matt Roy Set To Miss Time With A Lower-Body Injury

Washington Capitals defenseman Matt Roy (lower body) is expected to miss some time after getting hurt over the weekend. He suffered a lower-body injury as Washington opened its 2024-25 campaign on Saturday with a 5-3 loss to New Jersey. The game also marked Roy's debut for the Capitals after he inked a six-year, $34.5 million contract with the team in the offseason. Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery doesn't expect Roy to be out for long but said he will miss a "decent amount of time." Roy has started life in D.C. on the second defensive pairing. Dylan McIlrath jumped into his spot in Monday's practice and looks set to make his season debut against Vegas on Tuesday.

Matt Roy Activated From Injured Reserve

Los Angeles Kings defenseman Matt Roy (lower body) has been activated from Injured Reserve and appears set to play Thursday against Edmonton. He hasn't played since Mar. 12, sitting out 12 games. Roy has had a solid season with 17 points, 140 shots, 104 hits and 87 blocks in 58 games. He was logging some very heavy minutes before getting injured and should face a busy time straight away in his return, with the Kings still missing Drew Doughty (undisclosed), Mikey Anderson (upper body) and Sean Walker (knee) from the back. Kings forward Brendan Lemieux (lower body) has also come off Injured Reserve ahead of Thursday's action.

Matt Roy Sustains A Lower-Body Injury

Los Angeles Kings defenseman Matt Roy picked up a lower-body injury and wasn't able to finish Saturday's 5-0 loss to the Sharks. He exited in the second period, finishing with 14:38 of ice time. The Kings have another outing on Sunday against Florida and Roy should be considered very questionable for the game. The injury comes at an awful time for Roy, as he had just started to log some heavy minutes again with Drew Doughty (undisclosed) on the shelf. The 26-year-old rearguard has bagged 17 points in 58 games this season, adding 60 blocks and 53 hits.

Matt Roy Fires A Lot Of Shots Thursday

Los Angeles Kings defenseman Matt Roy loves to shoot the puck. He has 12 assists in 32 games but something is missing. That is goals. Roy still has none on the season despite the six shots and four scoring chances generated on Thursday against Vancouver. Roy now has no goals on 89 shots this season. At some point, the goals will come. Roy is averaging nearly two blocked shots a game and two hits a game of late. With his ice time approaching 22 minutes a night. The Kings' defenseman is being relied on more and more to produce and he has mostly not disappointed.

Matt Roy Dishes Out Two Assists In Sunday's Win

Los Angeles Kings defenseman Matt Roy delivered two assists as the team skated to a 3-2 victory over Washington on Sunday. He tallied both of his helpers in the third period when the Kings turned a 2-1 deficit into a win. Christian Wolanin and Adrian Kempe scored the goals. Roy had produced some good numbers this season with 11 points, 79 shots, 43 hits and 55 blocks to his name with 30 games played. He had five blocks alone in Sunday's win with three hits.

Matt Roy Gets Added To COVID-19 List

Los Angeles Kings defenseman Matt Roy will miss Saturday's meeting with the Sharks after he was added to the NHL's COVID-19 protocols list. The 25-year-old will miss his sixth game of the year. Roy has scored his first two goals of the campaign in recent games, and he has nine points for the season in 30 outings with 46 shots, 43 blocks, 41 hits, and a plus-three rating. He's averaged fewer than 20 minutes a game during his second full year in the league, but his minutes have been on the rise lately, and Roy was heavily involved in Friday's 3-0 loss to San Jose, logging 22:14. The Kings recently signed the Detroit-born blueliner to a three-year extension, and he's been developing nicely, but his fantasy value remains limited.

Matt Roy Signs A Three Year Contract With Los Angeles

Los Angeles Kings defenseman Matt Roy was rewarded a three-year deal worth $3.15 million annually on Sunday. The 26-year-old stay-at-home defenseman has tallied zero goals and seven assists in 2021. Los Angeles selected the former seventh-round pick in the 2015 NHL draft. Roy is rostered by two percent of fantasy managers on Yahoo! He is fairly irrelevant for fantasy hockey, but he plays a huge role for the Kings defensively.

Matt Roy Back In The Lineup

Los Angeles Kings defenseman Matt Roy will be playing Tuesday against the Minnesota Wild. He hasn't played since January 28th with having an upper-body injury. Roy will be slotted in on the team's third defenseman pairing. With Roy returning, Austin Strand should be out of the lineup. The defenseman has three goals through eight games played this season.
