Ivan Miroshnichenko Makes Stanley Cup Playoffs Debut
Washington Capitals winger Ivan Miroshnichenko will make his Stanley Cup Playoffs debut in Friday's Game 3 against the Rangers. The 20-year-old will be drafted into the lineup for Nicolas Aube-Kubel on the fourth line. Miroshnichenko had his first 21 NHL appearances during the regular season, scoring twice and notching six points. He will hope to end an eight-game scoreless spell in Friday's crucial game.
Ivan Miroshnichenko Getting Strong Opportunity With Capitals
Washington Capitals winger Ivan Miroshnichenko is getting a nice opportunity with the club in training camp, skating on a line with Alex Ovechkin and fellow long-time Capital Nicklas Backstrom. Drafted with the 20th pick of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, the 19-year-old spent last season with the Kontinental Hockey League's Omsk Avangard in his native Russia, registering three goals and four points across 23 contests. He was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in February of 2022 but is now cancer-free. Of course, it makes sense for Ovechkin to tutor his young countryman while acting as his interpreter off the ice. He remains a long shot to crack the Capitals' opening night roster but has the full support of one of the greatest players in NHL history.
