Ryan Johansen Placed On Unconditional Waivers

Philadelphia Flyers center Ryan Johansen (undisclosed) has been placed on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract due to a "material breach." The Flyers acquired Johansen from the Colorado Avalanche in March, but the veteran forward hasn't actually played for the team. Philadelphia waived him and tried to assign him to the AHL right after bringing him in but was unable to do so because Johansen was injured. Johansen's agent, Kurt Overhardt, has announced that his client has a "severe" hockey injury that requires surgery. Johansen, who had one season remaining on an eight-year, $64 million contract ($8 million average annual value), is expected to file a grievance over the contract termination with the NHL Players' Association.

Flyers Immediately Place Ryan Johansen On Waivers

The Philadelphia Flyers have immediately placed center Ryan Johansen on waivers. The veteran was acquired as part of the trade that sent defenseman Sean Walker to the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday but his inclusion was strictly financially related. He is owed $4 million in the final year of his deal next season as the Flyers took that salary off Colorado's books in order to secure a first-round pick in the swap. Johansen has struggled this season, his first in Colorado, with just 23 points in 63 games while averaging just 13:39 of ice time per game, his lowest figure since his 2011-12 rookie season. He will almost certainly clear waivers before potentially being sent to the minors.

Ryan Johansen Questionable Thursday

Colorado Avalanche center Ryan Johansen is feeling under the weather, and it's unclear if he can play on Thursday against Dallas. The illness kept Johansen off the ice on Wednesday, but he has traveled with the team to Texas. Johansen has been one of the Avalanche's biggest goal threats, with 11 markers tallied across 38 outings, but he's managed only 15 points in total during his first year in Denver. Ross Colton would be the likeliest replacement for Johansen on the second line if he's out on Thursday.

Ryan Johansen Scores Two Goals In Victory

Colorado Avalanche center Ryan Johansen scored for the second consecutive game as he finished with two goals in Monday's 4-1 victory against the Lightning. Johansen scored the first two goals of the game for the Avalanche to give the team a two-goal advantage, and the veteran forward recorded his second multi-goal game of the season. Johansen has collected nine goals and one assist through 21 games to rank third on the team in goals scored at the quarter mark of the season.

Ryan Johansen Traded To Colorado

The Colorado Avalanche acquired center Ryan Johansen in a trade with the Nashville Predators on Saturday. As part of the deal, Nashville received depth forward Alex Galchenyuk and the Predators retain 50 percent of Johansen's contract. The 30-year-old has two seasons to go on a big $64 million pact that has an eight million cap hit. Johansen is coming off a down year which was cut short by a broken leg. He posted 28 points across 55 outings before getting injured in late February. Johansen's play has been inconsistent for a few years now, but he will be in a good bounce-back sport next season, with the Vancouver native projected to be the second-line center on a good Colorado team.

Ryan Johansen Done For The Regular Season

Nashville Predators center Ryan Johansen has been ruled out for 12 weeks following leg surgery, which means that the 2022-23 regular season is over for him. He was injured Tuesday in a game against Vancouver in very unfortunate circumstances when the back of Johansen's right leg was cut by Quinn Hughes' skate blade. Johansen finishes his 12th campaign in the league with 12 goals and 16 assists in 55 games. Juuso Parssinen might now move back to center with Johansen out, although head coach John Hynes also has other options available to him.

Ryan Johansen Suffers A Potentially Very Serious Injury

Nashville Predators center Ryan Johansen was forced to exit Tuesday's game against Vancouver with an injury and it's possible that he faces a very long spell on the sidelines. Johansen exited in the second period after Quinn Hughes' skate blade appeared to have made contact with the back of his lower right leg. The 30-year-old needed help to get off the ice and it appears likely that we won't be seeing him for a while. Johansen has struggled to perform this season, putting up only 28 points in 55 games, and a serious injury would be another blow for him.

Ryan Johansen Leads The Way Versus Devils

Nashville Predators center Ryan Johansen led the charge in Thursday's matchup against New Jersey, completing a 4-3 overtime victory with three points. He scored just 11 seconds into the game, and after registering an assist on a late game-tying goal, he also potted the game-winning goal 33 seconds into the extra frame. Johansen had a very quiet November, as he tallied only six points, but it looks like he is ready to break out of the slump in December. The 30-year-old has now recorded seven goals and seven assists for the year in 22 games.

Ryan Johansen Posts First Career Hat Trick

Nashville Predators center Ryan Johansen grabbed his first career hat trick in Tuesday's 6-2 victory over Minnesota. He netted a couple of power-play goals in the first period and capped things off with an empty-netter. Johansen was very hungry in front of the net all game as he finished with a team-high seven shots. The Vancouver-born forward is now on 20 goals and 54 points for the campaign in 66 games. It's been a big bounce-back year for Johansen after he went through a couple of very disappointing seasons. He's gone for five points across his last two appearances and should have fun again against Ottawa's leaky defense on Thursday.

Ryan Johansen Stays Hot Thursday Night

Nashville Predators center Ryan Johansen bagged another couple of points in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Islanders, getting to 24 for the campaign. He scored his eighth goal of the season in the opening period and helped Eeli Tolvanen to grab a late game-winner near the end of regulation. Johansen has notched 15 of his points across the past three weeks. He already boasts five points this week and can look for more in road games against New Jersey and the Rangers. The 29-year-old averages exactly a point per game away from home.

Ryan Johansen Adds Three Points To His Tally

Nashville Predators center Ryan Johansen maintained his hot scoring form with three points in Tuesday's 5-2 victory over Detroit, scoring a power-play goal and delivering two assists. He was plus-two for the game and tallied three shots and four hits in 15:54 of action. Johansen has piled up 13 points in his last nine appearances. He's on 22 points for the campaign, already matching his tally from 2020-21. Despite his red-hot form, Johansen remains available in a lot of fantasy leagues, and managers should consider adding him, especially with Nashville having three more games this week.

Ryan Johansen Bags Two Points Monday Night

Nashville Predators center Ryan Johansen enjoyed a second consecutive multi-point outing on Monday, finishing a 3-2 win over Anaheim with a goal and an assist. He opened the scoring 12:34 into the first period and picked up a power-play assist in the second. Yakov Trenin also had a goal and an assist. Johansen had just three points for the month before exploding with back-to-back two-point performances. He's reached 13 points for the season in 18 games. The Predators are on a nice run at the moment, so more success should be on the horizon for Johansen, who's answered well to a miserable 22-point year he had in 2020-21.

Ryan Johansen Returns From COVID-19 List

Nashville Predators center Ryan Johansen will return to the lineup on Thursday after being removed from the NHL's COVID-19 protocols list. He takes up a spot as a third-line center between Nick Cousins and Viktor Arvidsson. Nashville also has Brad Richardson (upper body) back in the lineup for the first time since Jan. 30. Johansen has been off his game at the start of the year, as he's gone goalless in 14 appearances and has only five points and 22 shots. The 28-year-old gets two more games this week after Thursday, so maybe he can pick up some momentum now.

Ryan Johansen Ready To Return On Tuesday

Nashville Predators center Ryan Johansen (upper body) is set to rejoin the lineup for Tuesday's visit to Detroit after coming off the Injured Reserve. The 28-year-old hasn't played since Feb. 4 when he had one assist in a 6-5 overtime victory against Florida. Johansen has four total assists for the year with no goals in 10 games. His production has actually gone up a bit compared to last season when he had a down year with only 36 points in 68 appearances. Johansen returns as the third-line center between Nick Cousins and Eeli Tolvanen, but he should work his way up the lineup soon and hopefully can regain his form.

Ryan Johansen Sidelined With Injury

Nashville Predators forward Ryan Johansen will be placed on the Injured Reserve with an upper-body injury. Johansen is listed as week-to-week. He will most likely be out for a couple of weeks. The Vancouver native has four assists through 10 games. His teammates face the defending Stanley Cup champions in the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday.
