Elias Diaz and Martin Maldonado have gotten the lion's share of playing time behind the plate for the Padres, but neither has provided much offense. Padres catchers have combined to hit an awful .203/.259/.315. Fermin isn't an offensive world-beater either, but he should give the Padres an upgrade with the bat. The 30-year-old has hit .255/.309/.339 with three home runs, 12 RBI, and 17 runs scored in 208 plate appearances.

Fermin has only played in seven total MLB games the last two years, going 1-for-14 at the plate with no walks and five strikeouts.

Undeniably, he could have some fantasy relevance in the majors if he's able to keep up his impressive offensive output.
