Former Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jabari Blash has reportedly signed with the Rakuten Golden Eagles, a Japanese baseball team. Blash was up and down Triple-A last season, hitting just .103 with 24 strikeouts in 39 at-bats with the Angels. He was not fantasy relevant and will look to regain some value overseas.
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jabari Blash is starting in left field on Wednesday, batting seventh. Blash is starting in place of Justin Upton, who is on the DL with a finger injury. Blash has not played in the show since July 26. Across 23 big league at-bats, Blash is slashing an abysmal .087/.185/.087 with 14 strikeouts. He is not worth owning in any leagues, and should not be trusted in DFS formats.
Jefry Marte Reinstated from DL, Jabari Blash Optioned
The Los Angeles Angels have reinstated Jefry Marte (wrist) from the disabled list. They optioned outfielder Jabari Blash to make room. Marte had been splitting time at first and third base before going down with an injury. He is hitting .262 with three home runs on the season. Unless he acquires a full-time role, he is best suited on the waiver wire in all mixed formats.
The Los Angeles Angels have recalled right fielder Kole Calhoun (oblique) from the 10-day DL. He is in the starting lineup on Monday, batting ninth and playing right field. To make room on the roster, the team optioned outfielder Jabari Blash to Triple-A. Blash was hitting .111 with nine strikeouts in 18 at-bats for the Angels. Calhoun has had a horrific season up to this point, batting .145 on the year. The oblique injury may have had something to do with it however, so he's worth keeping an eye on in 14+ team leagues or AL-only formats.
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jabari Blash is in the starting lineup again on Tuesday. He was recalled on Monday and immediately drew the start in right field, going 0-for-3 with a walk and three strikeouts. He looks to be the primary right fielder while Kole Calhoun (oblique) is out. Blash is not worth a look outside of very deep leagues, despite his excellent power.
Angels Recall Jabari Blash, Option Michael Hermosillo
The Los Angeles Angels have recalled outfielder Jabari Blash from Triple-A Salt Lake. They sent down Michael Hermosillo to make room on the active roster. Hermosillo hit .143 in 21 at-bats with the Angels. Blash is an all-or-nothing slugger who has eight home runs in 102 career games, with 104 strikeouts and a .201 average. Don't expect him to have any fantasy relevance, although he will likely draw a fair amount of starts as long as Kole Calhoun (oblique) is out.
The Los Angeles Angels acquired outfielder Jabari Blash from the New York Yankees in exchange for a player to be named later or cash. Blash hit just .213 with five home runs and 16 RBI last year for the Padres. He has some pop in his bat but likely won't be anything more than a bench body if he makes the roster out of spring training. There's nothing to see here in terms of fantasy value.
Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic is reporting that the New York Yankees will receive outfielder Jabari Blashfrom the San Diego Padres in return for infielder Chase Headley and pitcher Bryan Mitchell. Blash, 28, still has five years of team control and figures to be a backup outfielder with a chance to get some at-bats as a designated hitter. Blash hit .213 with five home runs this past season and drove in 16 runs in 164 at-bats.
Padres Acquire Chase Headley and Bryan Mitchell For Jabari Blash
Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic is reporting that the San Diego Padres have acquired Yankees infielder Chase Headley and pitcher Bryan Mitchell for outfielder Jabari Blash. It will be Headley's second stint with the Padres. The move will help clear some money for the Yankees after taking on Giancarlo Stanton as the Padres will take on all of the $13 million owed to Headley this upcoming season
Jabari Blash Makes Impact After Recall, Can't Play Hero
San Diego outfielder Jabari Blash, filling in for injured Hunter Renfroe (neck), made a splash in his first Major League action since May 8. Blash singled, doubled, and drove in two runs on Friday, although he couldn't play the hero role when given the chance. Blash had runners on with the chance to drive in the tying run in the bottom of the ninth, but flew out to Hunter Pence to end the game. Blash will see regular starts for the next week in right field, but has struggled when given time in the majors. He has a .150 average in 32 at-bats this season and hit just .169 in 71 AB last season. He has tremendous power, but has yet to put it together at the top level.
