Minnesota Twins shortstop JT Riddle was placed on the COVID-19 injured list on Wednesday. Riddle was called up when starting shortstop Andrelton Simmonstested positive for the virus, and the team will now be without the former for the foreseeable future. Riddle was not a positive test but a close contact of someone who tested positive, meaning he should only be out for a couple of days before getting back to action.

The Miami Marlins placed first baseman Neil Walker (quadriceps) on the 10-day injured list on Friday with a right quadriceps strain and recalled shortstop J.T. Riddle from Triple-A New Orleans in a corresponding move. He'll factor into playing time in the outfield with Rosell Herrera, but he's nothing more than a dart throw in NL-only affairs.

He'll take all the reps he can during his assignment. Riddle appeared in 70 games as a rookie last season, hitting .250 with three home runs and 31 RBI. He did however struggle with 50 strikeouts. The Marlins will certainly give Riddle a chance at shortstop when he returns to see if he sticks, but there's no reason for you to be claiming him off waivers anytime soon.
