Michael Reed Fantasy Stats

San Francisco Giants outfielders Connor Joe and Michael Reed each took a seat for Sunday's series finale against the San Diego Padres. The young duo combined to go hitless in 14 at-bats with nine strikeouts in their first three games with the Giants. Manager Bruce Bochy said he talked to Reed on Saturday in an attempt to get him to "calm down a little bit." The two outfielders were added late in the spring and are still getting used to their new surroundings. "I know the results haven't been there, but it's not easy when you come up," Bochy said. "You've got a lot of anxiety sometimes, especially when you're joining a new team, Opening Day. I'm sure a lot has been going through them. We'll try to get them settled in." Joe and Reed are worth a look in deeper NL-only fantasy leagues, but maybe reserve them until they start to hit.

San Francisco Giants outfielder Michael Reed is starting in right field and batting leadoff against Padres starter Joey Lucchesi on Friday night. Steven Duggar will be bumped down to seventh in the order against the left-hander. Infielder Yangervis Solarte also gets the start at second base over Joe Panik, and he's hitting third. First baseman Brandon Belt will take the night off as well against the southpaw. Both Reed and Solarte see a boost hitting at the top of the Giants order, but they'll be facing San Diego's best pitcher from 2018 in one of the toughest environments to hit in baseball.

The Atlanta Braves have designated outfielder Danny Santana for assignment and recalled outfielder Michael Reed from Triple-A. Santana was hitting just .179 in 2018 and hasn't been the same person since his rookie season. He'll likely remain in Atlanta's organization. Reed has been recalled a few times but has yet to get a major league at-bat in 2018. He should be left on the waiver wire in all leagues.

The Atlanta Braves have recalled outfielder Michael Reed and Evan Phillips while demoting Matt Wisler and placing Peter Moylan on the 10-day DL with a forearm strain. Both Reed and Phillips have been fantastic in the minors this season, with Reed hitting .337 with nine home runs and seven steals over 74 minor league games and Phillips pitching to a 2.09 ERA and a 58/14 K/BB ratio over 38 2/3 innings. Neither will have much value right out the gate, but they should be names to keep an eye out for.
