Nabil Crismatt News
The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed pitcher Nabil Crismatt and outfielder Travis Swaggerty to minor-league contracts. Crismatt, 28, got into eight big-league games between the Padres and D-backs in the 2023 season, allowing 12 earned runs, three home runs, and seven walks against 12 strikeouts in 13 innings of work. That said, the right-hander was largely very good from 2020-22 and owns a career 3.76 ERA across 109 big-league outings. Swaggerty, 26, didn't appear in the big leagues in 2023 and has just five MLB appearances under his belt, all coming in the 2022 season. He appeared in just 22 minor-league games in the Pirates' organization last season before being released and signing a minor-league deal with the White Sox.
The Arizona Diamondbacks signed right-hander Nabil Crismatt to a minor-league deal on Saturday. Crismatt was designated for assignment by the San Diego Padres last week and elected free agency. He'll be staying in the National League West after posting a rough 9.82 ERA (7.37 FIP), 2.18 WHIP, seven walks and nine strikeouts in only 11 relief innings for the Padres in 2023. The 28-year-old reliever was much more reliable in his first three seasons in San Diego, recording a 3.38 ERA (3.81 FIP), 1.25 WHIP and 144 strikeouts in 157 innings over 101 appearances (one start). For now, Crismatt will operate as minor-league relief depth in Arizona.
