The Los Angeles Dodgers signed veteran relief pitcher Neftali Feliz to a minor league contract on Tuesday after he was recently released by the Philadelphia Phillies. The 33-year-old former American League Rookie of the Year in 2010 allowed four earned runs on four hits (one home run) in just one inning pitched for the Phillies before they gave him the boot. Before signing with Philadelphia, Feliz hadn't pitched in the major leagues since 2017, when he spent time with the Milwaukee Brewers and Kansas City Royals. It's highly unlikely that the right-hander will make it back to the Show with the Dodgers.
Phillies Sign Neftali Feliz, Others To Minor League Deals
The Philadelphia Phillies signed relief pitcher Neftali Feliz, catcher Christian Bethancourt, infielder Ronald Torreyes and right-hander Michael Ynoa to minor league deals on Monday. The 32-year-old Feliz won the American League Rookie of the Year and was an All-Star for the Rangers in 2010, but he hasn't pitched in the majors since 2017. Bethancourt, 29, has played in 161 games in five seasons (2013-17) and will provide the team with catching depth as they try to re-sign J.T. Realmuto. Torreyes has played in 240 games over parts of six big league seasons and started four games last September for Philly. Ynoa, 29, has a 4.42 ERA in 45 career outings with the White Sox from 2016-17.
Free-agent relief pitcher Neftali Feliz signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks, according to Robert Murray of FanRag Sports. Earlier Sunday, Murray said that the free-agent right-hander had received interest from the Giants, Cubs, Braves, Angels and Reds, but the Diamondbacks will add the 29-year-old. Feliz recently received a clean bill of health from Dr. James Andrews and feels great by all accounts. While he only has a 5.06 ERA and 20 saves over the last three seasons (147 2/3 innings), Feliz did have 85 saves and a 2.65 ERA in 210 2/3 innings from 2010-2014. He topped 30 saves in both 2010 and 2011 and could get save opportunities in an Arizona bullpen that currently has reliever Archie Bradley as the projected closer.

Kansas City Royals reliever Neftali Feliz is headed to the disabled list for ulnar nerve palsy. The move is retroactive to August 14, so Feliz will be eligible to return as soon as August 24. Feliz has been dealing with numbness in his right hand, so it's possible this issue led to his recent struggles, having surrendered five earned runs in his last two innings pitched. This solidifies Brandon Maurer's role as the primary setup man for closer Kelvin Herrera.
The Kansas City Royals have reached an agreement with recently released reliever Neftali Feliz. The move is a bit of a lottery pick for Kansas City as Feliz has been bad in general in 2017 and especially atrocious in June, when he was unceremoniously designated for assignment after posting an 11.25 ERA over five outings. Feliz had a couple early years of success, but he's never fully recovered from Tommy John surgery that he had in 2012. Once regularly touching triple digits, Feliz started 2017 by hitting 98 MPH on regular basis. Unfortunately, the speed boost was short-lived, and as he's dropped down to 95-96 MPH, he's become considerably more hittable. With Kansas City's bullpen carrying a 4.41 ERA this season, a flier on a possible bounceback isn't a terrible idea. That said, owners should only monitor this situation lightly for now.
The Milwaukee Brewers have released reliever Neftali Feliz. Feliz has had a tough season where he lost the closer job and had an ERA of 6.00. He has struggled and is no guarantee to latch on with another team in a fantasy-relevant role at the back of a bullpen. He should've been dropped in most leagues when he lost the closer role early on
