Julian Champagnie Will Play Saturday

San Antonio Spurs guard/forward Julian Champagnie (back) has received the green light to play on Saturday night against the Boston Celtics, Matt Guzman of Sports Illustrated reports. He was initially listed as questionable for the game. Champagnie has quietly had a solid campaign with the Spurs, averaging 11.1 points and 5.9 rebounds, both career highs. Recently, Champagnie has benefited from Devin Vassell's (adductor) absence, starting five consecutive games. This stretch includes a pair of 20-point outings for Champagnie and a huge 36-point career night against the New York Knicks.

Julian Champagnie May Sit Saturday vs. Boston

San Antonio Spurs guard/forward Julian Champagnie (back) is questionable for Saturday's game against Boston due to mid-back soreness. With Devin Vassell (adductor) sidelined, Champagnie has stepped into a larger role, starting and averaging 19.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.0 steals in 32.0 minutes. If he sits, wing minutes open up. Keldon Johnson becomes the primary beneficiary after posting 27 points in 28 minutes last game. Dylan Harper has shown inconsistent production, while Lindy Waters III has barely played lately, keeping both as risky deep-league options.

Julian Champagnie Questionable For Rematch Against Warriors

San Antonio Spurs guard/forward Julian Champagnie (hip) is questionable for Friday's NBA Cup game against the Golden State Warriors. Champagnie, who is managing a hip contusion, recently moved to the bench with the return of guard De'Aaron Fox, but played 20 minutes against the Warriors on Wednesday. The 24-year-old is used as a floor spacer and three-point shooter in San Antonio's rotation, and isn't on the radar for fantasy basketball purposes. Forward Jeremy Sochan, who played just six minutes on Wednesday, and guard Lindy Waters III would see an increase in minutes if Champagnie can't suit up.

Julian Champagnie has Salary Guaranteed by San Antonio

San Antonio Spurs forward Julian Champagnie had his $3 million salary fully guaranteed for the 2025 campaign. The 24-year-old appeared in all 82 regular-season games in 2024, averaging 9.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.4 assists. While he wasn't a consistent producer, he stepped up when needed, amassing 13.2 points and 5.1 boards in 29 starts. Champagnie will presumably have a difficult time finding routine minutes this season. However, he could be one of the first people tasked with a bigger role if there are injuries, which would give him some streaming value during the year. Still, until that situation arises, Champagnie isn't worth rostering in most fantasy formats.

Julian Champagnie Moves Into Starting Five

San Antonio Spurs forward Julian Champagnie will move into the starting five ahead of Saturday's game against the Dallas Mavericks. It appears head coach Gregg Popovich has decided to shake up his starting unit. Forward Keldon Johnson (back) came into this game listed as probable. There is no word on him being out, so the expectation is that Johnson is going to come off the bench. Johnson should still play significant minutes off the bench, so he'll still hold decent fantasy value. Champagnie has posted a few decent games, but isn't consistent enough to stream in most fantasy formats.

Julian Champagnie Shines In Summer League With 30 Points

San Antonio Spurs guard/forward Julian Champagnie hit five three-point bombs and shot 9-for-20 overall from the field en route to a game-high 30 points in Monday's Summer League meeting with OKC. The 22-year-old even ended up being the top scorer for the first day of Summer League action, leading his squad to a 98-77 victory. In just 25 minutes on the court, Champagnie also registered eight rebounds, two assists, and four steals in the game. Champagnie had a very impressive finish to last season with the Spurs, and he is now working towards breaking into the regular rotation after having earned himself a four-year, $12 million extension a few days ago.

Julian Champagnie Earns Multi-Year Deal With Spurs

San Antonio Spurs forward Julian Champagnie is sticking around with the team on a four-year, $12 million contract. It's a feel-good story for the 22-year-old, who played only 15 games for the Spurs last campaign. In his limited action, Champagnie showed out with 11.0 points, 4.0 boards, and 2.2 threes on 40.7% shooting from downtown across just 20.7 minutes per night. The undrafted St. John's product may have aided some fantasy rosters during "silly season" last year, but Champagnie could have a hard time cracking the San Antonio rotation while the squad is healthy in 2023-2024.
