Victor Wembanyama Working On Dribbling

According to Nick Moyle of The San Antonio Express-News, San Antonio Spurs forward/center Victor Wembanyama has been working on his dribbling with the help of former player Jamal Crawford. The 20-year-old had a stellar inaugural campaign, averaging 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.6 blocks, and 1.6 steals. As a result, he was named the NBA Rookie of the Year while earning NBA All-Defensive First Team honors. However, he had issues taking care of the ball, logging 3.7 turnovers per contest. Hopefully, Wembanyama's time with Crawford will help him improve. Either way, the 2023 No. 1 overall pick has top-10 fantasy potential in all formats for the 2024-25 season.

Victor Wembanyama's Presence Makes San Antonio An Attractive Landing Spot

The San Antonio Spurs could have a completely new look in 2024-25, with Victor Wembanyama's presence making the team an attractive landing spot for players. "Every free agent, every veteran guard, they all want to play with Victor Wembanyama," said ESPN's NBA Draft analyst Jonathan Givony on The Ringer's NBA Draft Show. According to Givony, the Spurs want to be back in the playoffs next season, and he thinks the team is going to be "aggressive" with its draft picks. San Antonio has two top-eight picks in the upcoming draft. The team will need to add a lot of quality to get back into postseason contention after finishing with a 22-60 record in 2023-24.

Victor Wembanyama First Rookie Named To NBA All-Defensive First Team

San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama is the first rookie to be selected to the NBA All-Defensive first team. The National Basketball Association has named an All-Defensive first and second team since the 1968-69 season. Wembanyama was also awarded the NBA Rookie of the Year earlier in the month. In 71 regular season contests, the 20-year-old rookie averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 3.6 blocks, and 1.2 steals during 29.7 minutes per game.

Victor Wembanyama Wins Rookie Of The Year

San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama was named the 2023-24 NBA Rookie of the Year on Monday night. This was a no-brainer, with the 20-year-old taking the league by storm in his first year. He was efficient on both ends of the floor, averaging 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 3.6 blocks. More importantly, he played 71 games, much more than most had anticipated. It's scary to think how much Wembanyama will improve during the offseason, and he'll likely be a top-10 fantasy option in any format for the 2024-25 campaign.

Victor Wembanyama Ruled Out For Sunday

San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game versus the Detroit Pistons due to right ankle injury management. As the Spurs sit near the bottom of the Western Conference standings, they will let their young superstar rest. The prized rookie will end his season on a high note after collecting 34 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists in a thrilling victory over the defending champion Denver Nuggets on Friday. Wembanyama is the heavy favorite to win the Rookie of the Year award after a sensational first NBA season. Zach Collins (thumb) is questionable to play, and if he ends up sitting out, too, Sandro Mamukelashvili will likely see as many minutes as he can handle in the season finale.

Victor Wembanyama Won’t Play Wednesday

San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama (ankle) is out for Wednesday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Head coach Gregg Popovich mentioned following Tuesday's road win over the Memphis Grizzlies that the team would be smart with Wembanyama on the second night of the back-to-back. The Spurs have two games left at home against the Denver Nuggets on Friday and the Detroit Pistons on Sunday, and the 2023 No. 1 overall pick would figure to be good to go for both meetings. In eight games without Wemby season, Zach Collins has stepped up to average 16.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.3 three-pointers, and 1.8 combined steals plus blocks. Collins is the most likely candidate to start at center for San Antonio on Wednesday, and he's a great DFS value option on the eight-game slate.

Victor Wembanyama Playing On Wednesday

San Antonio Spurs forward/center Victor Wembanyama (ankle) will play on Wednesday versus Utah. He wasn't available for Monday's meeting with the Phoenix Suns and was deemed questionable heading into this contest. But the rookie participated in shootaround on Wednesday morning, which was a good sign regarding his chance to suit up. Wembanyama has dominated the Jazz in two meetings this season, averaging 18.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 5.0 blocks. With that in mind, his return will mean less work for Zach Collins, who had 18 points in 30 minutes on Monday.

Victor Wembanyama, Keldon Johnson Both At Shootaround

San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama (ankle) and forward Keldon Johnson (knee) participated in Wednesday's morning shootaround. While both players remain formally listed as questionable for the game against the Utah Jazz, their presences at the session puts them on the right side of their designations. Wembanyama is dealing with a sprained left ankle, while Johnson is nursing soreness in his left knee, and their next chance to return would come on Friday against the New York Knicks if they sit out on Wednesday. In eight games without Wemby this season, Zach Collins is averaging 16.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.0 steals, and 1.6 threes and could dominate frontcourt minutes as a must-start fantasy play against a Jazz squad yielding the most FanDuel points to enemy power forwards.

Victor Wembanyama Questionable For Wednesday

San Antonio Spurs forward/center Victor Wembanyama (ankle) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Utah Jazz. The talented rookie missed Monday's game with a sprained ankle, and his playing status is in doubt once again. The injury is not severe considering the fact he has a chance to play, however, it would not be surprising for the Spurs to be extra cautious with their young star and let him rest, especially since the Spurs do not have much to play for at this point. If Wembanyama does sit out, Zach Collins would likely benefit once again. Collins started the last game and posted 18 points, five rebounds, and three assists.

Victor Wembanyama Out With Ankle Sprain

San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama (ankle) will not play in Monday's game versus the Phoenix Suns. Downgraded from questionable to out with a left ankle sprain, Wembanyama reportedly worked with the team during Monday's practice and should be considered day-to-day ahead of his next chance to take the floor on Wednesday against the Utah Jazz. The 15-56 Spurs are not in any rush to push their prized rookie big man back into action, though. With Wemby sidelined, Zach Collins deserves plenty of attention for the first day of the fantasy semifinals despite a tough matchup against a Suns team allowing the fourth-fewest DraftKings points to opposing centers. Over seven games without Wembanyama this season, Collins is putting up 16.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.8 three-pointers, and 2.0 combined steals plus blocks per contest.
