Former Denver Broncos and New England Patriots All-Pro cornerback Aqib Talib announced his retirement from football on Wednesday. Talib said he seriously considered an offer to return to New England and head coach Bill Belichick for a role covering opposing tight ends, but in the end, his heart just wasn't in it anymore. In his 13-year career, Talib made five straight Pro Bowls from 2013 to 2017 and was a first-team All-Pro in 2016 with the Broncos. He won a Super Bowl ring with Denver in 2015 and was an elite lockdown cornerback in his prime. The 34-year-old spent the last two seasons with the Rams but struggled with injuries and played in only 13 total games. He will now take his talents to the booth as a commentator.
Miami Dolphins cornerback Aqib Talib (ribs) will not come off Injured Reserve this year. Talib was dealt from the Rams to the Dolphins at the trade deadline in a move to help save Los Angeles some salary after they traded for cornerback Jalen Ramsey. With the veteran Talib set to be a free agent in the offseason, he's not expected to play a single down with the Dolphins.
The Los Angeles Rams are open to trading cornerback Aqib Talib (ribs) and other veteran players ahead of Tuesday's deadline in an effort to free up more money for recently acquired cornerback Jalen Ramsey, according to league sources. Talib, who is on Injured Reserve with fractured ribs, already turned down a chance to be traded last week. The five-time Pro Bowler could return later this year and help out another team if he is dealt. The 33-year-old is in the final year of his six-year, $57 million deal he signed with Denver in 2014. LA's defense has been a bit up and down in 2019, but trading for Ramsey should solidify their secondary a bit with Talib sidelined. The Rams Defense is a streaming option in London this week against the winless Bengals.
Los Angeles Rams cornerback Aqib Talib (ribs) has been ruled out for Week 6 against the 49ers, according to head coach Sean McVay. Already a weak streaming option against the Niners offense this Sunday, the Rams Defense and secondary takes a big hit without their veteran cornerback on the field. It's also excellent news for San Francisco quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and his wide receivers.
Los Angeles Rams cornerback Aqib Talib (ankle), who was taken off Injured Reserve this week, is active in Week 13 against the Lions. Talib will play but could have his snaps limited, as he hasn't played since late September. Talib's return, however, is bad news for Lions wide receiver Kenny Golladay and quarterback Matthew Stafford.
The Los Angeles Rams officially activated cornerback Aqib Talib (ankle) from Injured Reserve on Friday, which is an indication he'll make his return in Week 13 against the Lions. Talib hasn't played since injuring his ankle on Sept. 23, so he should be expected to be limited if he's active this Sunday. Still, Talib's veteran presence will be a big boost to a secondary that has struggled in his absence. LA's defense/special teams is a strong play in Week 13 against a Lions offense that is missing rookie running back Kerryon Johnson and receiver Marvin Jones.
Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said the team expects cornerback Aqib Talib (ankle) to return in Week 13 against the Lions. He looked good in practice on Wednesday, but it's still to be determined how much he will actually play on Sunday. Even if Talib plays limited snaps, this is a big boost for a Rams secondary that has struggled without him since he was injured against the Chargers on Sept. 23. LA's defense/special teams is a strong play this weekend against a Lions team without Marvin Jones and rookie Kerryon Johnson.
Los Angeles Rams cornerback Aqib Talib (ankle) will return from the Injured Reserve this season, and he could be back as soon as Week 13 against the Lions. Talib has been out since injuring his ankle on Sept. 23 against the Chargers, and the Rams have been weak in the secondary without him all season. Talib's return will be great news for the team's overall defense, and it would be bad news for a Lions offense that just lost their top wideout for the year in Marvin Jones (knee).
Los Angeles Rams cornerback Aqib Talib (ankle) expects to return following the team's Week 12 bye after Thanksgiving. "I had a great visit with the doctor today. It looks like the week after Thanksgiving, I'll be full speed, ready to go," Talib said. The Rams have been shredded by opposing wideouts of late and cornerback Marcus Peters has taken a step back since his calf injury and after Talib went down. That's good news for the Seahawks and Chiefs in Weeks 10 and 11, respectively. Los Angeles' secondary will receive a big boost when Talib is able to return opposite Peters for the final stretch of the regular season and the playoffs.
The Los Angeles Rams are set to be without All-Pro cornerback Aqib Talib (ankle) a while longer. Unfortunately for them, their slate doesn't get very easy after facing the San Francisco 49ers and quarterback C.J. Beathard this week. Following this week, they go up against quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Russell Wilson and Patrick Mahomes before they reach their bye week. While this is still one of the NFL's best defenses and teams overall, Talib would give them a significant boost, but that doesn't look like it's coming soon.
