Artie Burns News
Seattle Seahawks defensive back Artie Burns has been promoted to the active roster from the practice squad, according to Adam Schefter. Burns was elevated to the active roster for the first two games of the season and now he will stay there for good to provide depth. It should be noted that starting cornerback Riq Woolen hurt his shoulder during the Week 2 win over the Detroit Lions so Burns' promotion may have something to do with that. Burns, a former first-round pick, joins a Seahawks defense (D/ST) that is an intriguing streaming option in Week 3 against the Carolina Panthers at home.
Former Chicago Bears cornerback Artie Burns is joining the Seattle Seahawks on a one-year, $2 million deal, according to his agents. In his first year with the Bears in 2021, Burns played in 11 games (six starts) and finished with 23 tackles (19 solo) and six passes defensed. The 26-year-old was a former first-round pick (25th overall) by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2016 out of Miami. He hasn't been fantasy relevant in IDP leagues since his first couple seasons in the NFL when he accumulated 99 solo tackles and four interceptions in his first two seasons. Burns will help the Seahawks replace D.J. Reed, who signed a deal with the New York Jets on Tuesday.
Chicago Bears cornerback Artie Burns (knee) suffered a torn ACL in practice and will miss the entire 2020 season, according to a source. Burns, a 2016 first-round pick by the Steelers, played four seasons with Pittsburgh before signing a one-year deal with the Bears for the 2020 season. The 24-year-old was hoping to get back on track in the Windy City after his production started to tail off at the end of his tenure with the Steelers, but he'll have to wait until 2021 now. The Bears Defense overall, however, should be in play as a midrange fantasy defense. They'll be looking to rebound after a disappointing 2019.
