Free-agent quarterback Brock Osweiler announced his retirement on Wednesday. His biggest contributions in the NFL came back in 2015 when he led the Broncos to a 5-2 record in the absence of an injured Peyton Manning. Denver would go on to win Super Bowl 50 that year over the Panthers. The second-round pick in 2012 signed a four-year, $72 million deal with the Texans after winning the Super Bowl with Denver. Osweiler finishes his career with a 59.8 completion percentage, 7,418 yards, 37 touchdowns and 31 interceptions in 49 games between the Broncos, Texans and Dolphins.
Free-agent quarterback Brock Osweiler visited with the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday, according to a source. Phillip Walker is the current backup to Jacoby Brissett now that Andrew Luck has retired. Osweiler would represent a slight upgrade with more experience. The former Denver Bronco played in seven games with the Dolphins in 2018, completing 63.5 percent of his passes for 1,247 yards, six touchdowns and four interceptions. Brissett completed 58.8 percent of his passes for 3,098 yards, 13 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 2017 with Luck injured. He's really only an option in leagues that start two QBs.
Miami Dolphins quarterback Brock Osweiler gave a lackluster performance in Miami's 31-12 Week 10 loss to Green Bay. He was 23-37 passing for 213 yards with zero touchdowns and one interception. Osweiler was off-target on deep throws and docile in the pocket, unwilling to take chances or play with aggression. On one of the rare deep passes Osweiler missed a wide open Devante Parker in the second quarter that may have gone for a touchdown. Miami has a bye in Week 11, and after that Ryan Tannehill will likely resume the role as starting quarterback. Osweiler doesn't need to be held through the bye week.
Miami Dolphins quarterback Brock Osweiler will get his fifth straight start as quarterback Ryan Tannehill (shoulder) remains injured. Osweiler is 2-2 as the starter and has shown the potential of being a fantasy viable option. However, Week 10 features a matchup against the above-average Green Bay Packers defense. The Packers have fallen to 3-4-1 on the season and will certainly be looking to limit Osweiler and the Dolphins offense to try to secure a much needed win. Osweiler is a low-end QB2.
Miami Dolphins quarterback Brock Osweiler had an underwhelming day in Miami's 13-6 win over the Jets in Week 9. Osweiler was 15-for-24 passing for 139 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. He was also sacked four times. As the final score suggests, this game was only good for the defenses. Unlike his counterpart Sam Darnold, Osweiler was just trying not to lose the game for his team. The Dolphins take on Green Bay in Week 10, and if Osweiler starts he would be a two-quarterback league option only.
Miami Dolphins quarterback Brock Osweiler is an option in deeper leagues if a bye week or injury has taken away a QB1. Osweiler has had three solid starts this season and one fairly poor start. This weeks matchup against the New York Jets is certainly an opportunity for another quality game. The Dolphins in general have not looked good over the past few weeks so it is likely that Osweiler will attempt to get their offense back on track. Osweiler is a mid-range QB2 going into Week 9.
Miami Dolphins quarterback Brock Osweiler completed 21 of 35 pass attempts for 241 yards and no touchdowns in Week 8 against the Houston Texans. Osweiler has been effective the last two weeks but was held to a fairly weak performance by the Texans defense- these types of outings will likely be more common than previous performances if Osweiler remains the starter. Osweiler remains a low-end QB2 in deeper-leagues as long as quarterback Ryan Tannehill remains out.
Miami Dolphins quarterback Brock Osweiler will draw his third straight start in Week 8 against the Houston Texans on Thursday Night Football. Osweiler has performed surprisingly well in his first two outings, averaging 21.88 fantasy points in his first two starts. Based on past experience we know this performance isn't going to last, and Osweiler is hard to trust in any given week. Houston has been good against the pass this season, allowing the 20th most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. Osweiler is a two-quarterback league option only in this matchup.
Miami Dolphins quarterback Brock Osweiler has already been confirmed as the starter for the Dolphins Week 8 matchup against the Houston Texans. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill (shoulder) has been ruled out for the third-consecutive game. Osweiler has played well as a starter having thrown for over 600 yards and five touchdowns in the past two weeks. Osweiler is an option at QB2 but isn't an excellent option as the Dolphins receiving core continues to be littered with injuries.
Brock Osweiler Tosses Pair of Touchdowns in Week 7
Miami Dolphins quarterback Brock Osweiler played well again in the Dolphins 32-21 loss in Week 7 to Detroit. He was 22-for-31 passing for 239 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. Osweiler's 114.9 passer rating was the second highest of his career in games which he started. With Ryan Tannehill's status unclear and Osweiler's good play it seems likely Osweiler will start next week. The Dolphins have a quick turnaround with a Thursday night matchup against the Texans.
