Arizona Cardinals rookie quarterback Kyler Murray (hamstring) is active for Week 17 against the Rams, while tight end Charles Clay (calf) is inactive. Murray was a game-time decision, but he'll suit up for the final game of his rookie season. The first overall pick has been up and down in his first season, but overall 2019 has been a success. At less than 100 percent and in danger of being benched mid game, Murray is a very risky QB2 for fantasy owners. Clay hasn't been much of a fantasy factor at all this year in an offense that doesn't really utilize their tight ends in the passing game. Maxx Williams should be ignored if you're still playing for something in Week 17.
Arizona Cardinals tight end Charles Clay (calf) didn't practice all week but is questionable for Week 17 against the Rams. He's certainly on the wrong side of questionable for this one. The 30-year-old has only 18 receptions for 237 yards and a touchdown in 15 games this year, so fantasy owners weren't exactly looking for contributions from him in Week 17 to begin with. Maxx Williams should be the primary pass-catching tight end in the season finale, but in an offense that doesn't rely much on the position, fantasy owners should be looking elsewhere if you have a fantasy title on the line.
Arizona Cardinals tight end Charles Clay (knee) is questionable to return in Week 16 against the Seahawks. Clay caught his only target for a 16-yard gain before suffering the injury. Maxx Williams will be the primary pass-catching tight end if Clay cannot get clearance to return. In an inconsistent passing offense under rookie quarterback Kyler Murray, none of Arizona's tight ends have had much fantasy value in 2019, including Clay. You can ignore this position for the Cardinals in the Week 17 regular season finale.
Arizona Cardinals tight end Charles Clay emerged with his best game last week with three grabs for 88 yards. However, he's facing a San Francisco 49ers team that has allowed tight ends to catch 10 balls for 60 yards in four games combined. Look elsewhere for a streamer at tight end this week.
Arizona Cardinals tight end Charles Clay had his best showing of the season with three grabs for 88 yards in Week 8. One of the catches went for 47 yards in the only big play for the offense. Clay has done very little this season, but this could be a game to build on. The Cardinals could use production out of the tight end spot because they really aren't getting anything outside of the top two receivers and running back. Clay is worth keeping on the watch list, but he's not worth a pickup quite yet.
Arizona Cardinals tight end Charles Clay hauled in his two targets for just four yards Saturday against the Vikings. The veteran is sitting atop the tight end depth chart for the Cardinals, but that doesn't mean he will stick there. With fellow tight ends Maxx Williams and Ricky Seals-Jones behind him, there is no telling who is going to be the top dog of this group. Clay has the experience and we would expect him to start in Week 1. With that said, it looks as if Arizona's tight ends will mix and match and will therefore have very little fantasy appeal.
Arizona Cardinals tight end Charles Clay (knee) is dealing with a knee issue and he was one of six players the team placed on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list on Sunday leading up to the open of training camp this week. Clay can be activated at any point, but he cannot do any on-field work until he is activated. He is challenging for a potential starting job, so he'll want to get on the field as soon as possible. The Arizona offense promises to be rather prolific under new head coach Kliff Kingsbury, although with plenty of four- and five-receiver sets, it's uncertain how much the tight end will see of the field. Stay tuned.
The Arizona Cardinals are signing free-agent tight end Charles Clay to a one-year deal worth up to $3.25 million on Tuesday, according to a source. The deal includes a $350,000 signing bonus. Clay was an afterthought in Buffalo's offense the last couple years and had only 21 catches for 184 yards and no scores in 13 games last season. He's unlikely to produce much more in Arizona with Ricky Seals-Jones and veteran Jermaine Gresham also in the fold with a young quarterback still learning the speed of the NFL. Clay won't even be worth drafting in most fantasy leagues.
The Buffalo Bills released tight end Charles Clay on Friday. Clay provided only 21 catches (36 targets) for 184 yards (career-low 8.8 yards per catch) and no touchdowns in 13 games for Buffalo in 2018. He was rarely in the game plan for the Bills the last two seasons and won't be a very popular target on the free-agent market. His best season came in 2013 with the Dolphins when he had 69 receptions (103 targets) for 759 yards and six scores over a full season. The days of Clay being on fantasy rosters is over.
Buffalo Bills running back Chris Ivory (shoulder) and tight end Charles Clay are inactive for Week 16 against the Patriots. Ivory practiced in full late in the week, so it's a surprise that he's not playing. With LeSean McCoy back as the lead ball carrier, rookie Keith Ford should back up Shady against New England. Ford has zero standalone fantasy value, while McCoy has settled in as an RB3/flex in this inconsistent offense that could be playing from behind all day. Clay is a healthy scratch and hasn't been on the fantasy radar all season long.
