The Buffalo Bills plan to release running back Chris Ivory after signing veteran Frank Gore this offseason, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Releasing Ivory will save the team $2.15 million against the salary cap and will cost $750,000 in dead cap money. The veteran averaged just 3.3 yards per carry on 115 attempts in 2018 and hasn't averaged more than 3.8 YPC since 2016. The 31-year-old won't have a robust market in free agency.
Chris Ivory Has Productive Day After Being Inactive The Previous Two Weeks
Buffalo Bills running back Chris Ivory rushed for 45 yards on 14 carries and also caught one pass for 46 yards for a total of 91 yards from scrimmage in Week 17's victory over the Dolphins. It was his second-highest scrimmage yards this year thanks in large part to a fantastic catch and run on a third down and 16 play where he would have reached the end zone if he wasn't tripped up at the one-yard line. Josh Allen scored on a quarterback sneak on the very next play. The 30-year-old did not play the previous two weeks as he was dealing with a shoulder injury. Ivory finished the season with 385 rushing yards and one touchdown to go along with 13 receptions for 205 yards. He has one year left on the two-year contract that he signed with the team this past offseason, so it will be interesting to see if the Bills keep him around next year. If the ninth-year pro does come back, he is no more than a solid backup.
Buffalo Bills running back Chris Ivory (shoulder) and tight end Charles Clay are inactive for Week 16 against the Patriots. Ivory practiced in full late in the week, so it's a surprise that he's not playing. With LeSean McCoy back as the lead ball carrier, rookie Keith Ford should back up Shady against New England. Ford has zero standalone fantasy value, while McCoy has settled in as an RB3/flex in this inconsistent offense that could be playing from behind all day. Clay is a healthy scratch and hasn't been on the fantasy radar all season long.
Buffalo Bills running backs LeSean McCoy (hamstring) and Chris Ivory (shoulder) were both limited in practice on Wednesday after sitting out in Week 15. Both backs have a chance to return in Week 16 against the Patriots, which is good news after backup Marcus Mariota dislocated his elbow last week. McCoy or Ivory are no better than RB3/flex options in an inconsistent offense if they return to action this weekend. Keith Ford is the other back on roster. Kicker Stephen Hauschka and wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie were also limited in practice, but they aren't fantasy options.
Buffalo Bills running backs LeSean McCoy (hamstring) and Chris Ivory (shoulder) are both inactive in Week 15 against the Lions. However, kicker Stephen Hauschka (hip) is active. With both McCoy and Ivory out against Detroit, lead-back duties will fall to Marcus Murphy, while rookie Keith Ford will back him up. Murphy is strictly a deep sleeper in DFS formats against the Lions. Quarterback Josh Allen should be expected to be the team's leading rusher. Hauschka should be avoided by fantasy owners in an inconsistent offense now missing their top two running backs.
Buffalo Bills running backs LeSean McCoy (hamstring) and Chris Ivory (shoulder) are both listed as questionable for Week 15 against the Lions. McCoy was limited on Thursday and Friday, while Ivory practiced in full all week. Kicker Stephen Hauschka (hip) is also questionable and shouldn't be a fantasy consideration in a bad Buffalo offense. McCoy should be able to return after injuring his hamstring early in Week 14 and sitting out the rest of the game. But Shady is at risk of aggravating his hammy if he plays and is a low-end RB2 if he suits up. Ivory would be a low-end flex play even if McCoy were to sit out.
Buffalo Bills running back Chris Ivory accumulated 42 yards on 12 carries in Sunday's 27-23 loss to the Jets on Sunday. He was also targeted one time in the passing game. Ivory left the contest in the third quarter with a shoulder injury and did not return. It was his most yards and carries since he totaled 81 rushing yards on 16 carries against the Colts on Oct. 21. Ivory is currently listed as day-to-day and he will be monitored throughout the week, according to coach Sean McDermott. The Bills host the Lions in Week 15.
Buffalo Bills running back Chris Ivory totaled four yards on six carries in Sunday's loss to the Dolphins. He had a long run of four yards but that was virtually wiped out by a fumble on another carry that cost him four yards. However, the rushing attempt that he fumbled on was his only negative play on the day. Not surprisingly, his 0.7 yards per carry was a season-worst, however, not by much as the Tiffin University product has also registered 0.8 yards and one yard per attempt this year. The ninth-year pro has garnered nine rushing attempts over the last two weeks, although he has been completely ignored in the passing game. Fantasy owners can bypass Ivory when looking for a streaming option.
Buffalo Bills running back Chris Ivory has been LeSean McCoy's primary backup this season, but he saw just a couple of touches against the Jaguars. The 30-year-old garnered three carries for 14 yards last week, which was his lightest workload since Week 2. Between Week 3 and Week 11, he was averaging 12 touches a game which put him in a stable position for a flex play due to his pass catching ability. As a result of the ninth-year pro compiling less than six fantasy points in five of the last seven games and him seeing no more than 19 offensive snaps in two of his previous three games, Ivory should be ignored by fantasy owners against the Dolphins in Week 13.
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin (knee) took part in a full practice on Thursday after being limited on Wednesday. Running back Chris Ivory (shoulder) was limited on Thursday after sitting out on Wednesday. Both players should be able to play this Sunday against the Jets. With Buffalo's quarterback still undecided for this weekend, Benjamin remains a risky WR4/flex that doesn't appear to be very motivated on a bad team. Ivory will remain the backup to LeSean McCoy if he plays this weekend. He has no standalone fantasy value.
