Jay Cutler News
Free-agent quarterback Jay Cutler is expected to retire as he moves to the broadcasting booth. Cutler's return to football in 2017 was always expected to last just one year with the Dolphins. He completed 62 percent of his passes for just 2,666 yards, 19 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 14 games. His best year came in 2008 with the Broncos when he had his only 4,000-yard passing season and 25 touchdowns. Cutler always had a great arm, but he was often too careless with the football, which led to too many turnovers and poor decisions.
Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler didn't get to end his Dolphins career (presumably) in style. He completed one of two attempts for six yards before being pulled for third-string QB David Fales. Fales was adequate in his first extended NFL action, completing 29 of 42 pass attempts for 265 yards, one touchdown and one interception. This should mark the end of Cutler's tenure in Miami and quite possibly his career, as Cutler indicated he doesn't want to be a backup next year. He threw for 2,666 yards with a 19:14 touchdown-to-interception ratio this season.
Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler will start in Week 17, but it could be his last as a Dolphin or as an NFL QB for that matter. Cutler's future hasn't been decided yet, but it seems very unlikely the team will bring him back with Ryan Tannehill set to return from ACL surgery. The thought of playing backup doesn't appeal to him either. I wouldnt want to move again and go somewhere and just to back up," said Cutler. It has been an up-and-down season for the gunslinger, with more downs than ups. He currently has 2,660 passing yards (24th in the NFL), 19 touchdowns (17th), and an 80.9 passer rating (26th). He shouldn't be trusted in Week 17 against a Buffalo defense that has forced a 13:17 TD:INT ratio to opposing QBs.
