Jay Cutler Expected To Retire

Free-agent quarterback Jay Cutler is expected to retire as he moves to the broadcasting booth. Cutler's return to football in 2017 was always expected to last just one year with the Dolphins. He completed 62 percent of his passes for just 2,666 yards, 19 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 14 games. His best year came in 2008 with the Broncos when he had his only 4,000-yard passing season and 25 touchdowns. Cutler always had a great arm, but he was often too careless with the football, which led to too many turnovers and poor decisions.

Jay Cutler Pulled Early for David Fales in Final Game

Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler didn't get to end his Dolphins career (presumably) in style. He completed one of two attempts for six yards before being pulled for third-string QB David Fales. Fales was adequate in his first extended NFL action, completing 29 of 42 pass attempts for 265 yards, one touchdown and one interception. This should mark the end of Cutler's tenure in Miami and quite possibly his career, as Cutler indicated he doesn't want to be a backup next year. He threw for 2,666 yards with a 19:14 touchdown-to-interception ratio this season.

Jay Cutler Likely Suiting Up for Last Time as a Dolphin on Sunday

Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler will start in Week 17, but it could be his last as a Dolphin or as an NFL QB for that matter. Cutler's future hasn't been decided yet, but it seems very unlikely the team will bring him back with Ryan Tannehill set to return from ACL surgery. The thought of playing backup doesn't appeal to him either. I wouldnt want to move again and go somewhere and just to back up," said Cutler. It has been an up-and-down season for the gunslinger, with more downs than ups. He currently has 2,660 passing yards (24th in the NFL), 19 touchdowns (17th), and an 80.9 passer rating (26th). He shouldn't be trusted in Week 17 against a Buffalo defense that has forced a 13:17 TD:INT ratio to opposing QBs.

Jay Cutler Will Only Return As Starter

Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler said he will only return in 2018 as a starter. "I wouldn't want to move again and go somewhere and just to back up," Cutler said. The reluctance to take a backup job is likely the reason Cutler was headed to the broadcast booth before Ryan Tannehill went down with a knee injury, and he is unlikely to find much more interest on the open market this spring following another up-and-down season. If he is serious about only returning for a starting job, Cutler could be playing his final game on Sunday.

Jay Cutler Simply Mediocre Against Chiefs

Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler completed 50 percent of his passes (19-for-38) in Week 16 for 286 yards and a touchdown. He didn't hold his team back in a tough road match with Kansas City, but he failed to make any big plays either. Cutler has been the embodiment of inconsistency this season, as is his trademark. Aside from a couple of surprise performances such as the Week 14 upset over New England and a close Week 9 loss to Oakland, Cutler has been an afterthought in fantasy leagues. He will play what should be his last game as a Dolphin and possibly his last game in the NFL, next week at home versus Buffalo.

Jay Cutler Winds Down Dolphins Career With Little Fantasy Value

Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler has two games left as the starting quarterback in South Florida, but is not talking about his uncertain future with Kansas City looming on the schedule this weekend. He did reflect a bit by saying he values each game more than before. "Early on in your career you think youre going to play forever, Cutler said. So if you miss some here or there, you say, 'Next year, next year.' As you get older you realize how quickly years start taking off and you have valuable and precious [time]." Focus as he may, Cutler does not appear to be a good play in Week 16, as the Chiefs have held opponents to 189 passing yards per game over their last four home contests. A turnover-prone Cutler should be left on benches, even in two-QB leagues.

Jay Cutler Not Thinking About Next Year

Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler said he isn't thinking about whether he plans on returning for another season in 2018. I havent thought about it, Cutler said of his playing future. You know, Im focused on [Kansas City]. That stuff will be a concern of mine when the season is over. Cutler will likely be done with Miami after this year, but it remains to be seen if he'll look to latch on with another team. He has mostly been disappointing in 2017, throwing for 2,376 yards with 18 touchdowns and 14 interceptions for an 80.6 passer rating. At best, Cutler has been a midrange QB2 for fantasy owners, and he's unlikely to receive much interest on the open market in 2018. He may be playing the final two games of his career the next two weeks.

Jay Cutler Bombs in Buffalo With Three Interceptions

Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler pulled a complete reversal of last week, as he followed up his best game of the year with his worst. Cutler threw three interceptions and no touchdowns in a road loss to Buffalo in Week 15. He completed 28 of 49 passes for 274 yards and rushed for eight yards as well. Cutler was especially bad in clutch situations, throwing a red-zone pick and another in the final moments as the Dolphins had a chance to make a miraculous comeback to tie the game. Cutler continues to show he can't be trusted from week to week, both in fantasy and real life.

Jay Cutler Not Trustworthy in Week 15 Following Big Game

Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler pulled off a shocking upset when the Dolphins beat the Patriots easily in Week 14. Cutler threw three touchdown passes with no interceptions, finishing with a 112.1 passer rating, easily marking his best game of the year. Given the proclivity for letdowns this season after big wins, the Dolphins and their QB still cannot be trusted for fantasy purposes. The weather will be another factor. "Wind is probably the biggest factor in these cold-weather games," Cutler said. "Snow, rain, 30 degrees, that's all fine. You have heated benches, hand muffs, heated helmet things. So once you get out there you're kind of running on adrenaline. But if it's windy I think that affects how QB is played more than anything else." Cutler should be left on benches or waivers to wind down the season.

Jay Cutler Extremely Efficient in Surprise Victory Over New England

Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler had a signature win in his first season as the club's starting QB. Cutler led the Dolphins to a 27-20 victory while throwing for 263 yards and three touchdowns. He didn't turn the ball over at all, something he had managed in just two other games this season. While Cutler does face a less-than-stellar Buffalo defense next week, it will be a road game and could be in snowy conditions again, making him hard to trust.
