Matthew Judon News
New England Patriots edge rusher Matthew Judon is expected to participate in training camp that starts on Wednesday as he remains in contract talks with the organization. The 31-year-old is reportedly close to reaching a new deal with the Patriots, and it's a good sign to see he will not hold out or "hold in." The four-time Pro Bowler played in just four games last season before suffering a torn bicep, but he delivered four sacks in limited action. Overall, Judon has racked up 66.5 sacks in 114 career games, including 32 sacks in 38 games with New England. With the Patriots headed toward a full rebuild under new head coach Jerod Mayo, Judon's presence in the locker room as a leader could be significant.

Patriots, Matthew Judon Not Close To Contract Extension
New England Patriots linebacker Matthew Judon asked for a new contract, and the Patriots have made an offer, according to a source close to the situation. However, the two sides are not currently close to agreeing to a new deal. Judon is heading into the final year of his current contract and is set to make just $6.5 million in 2024. The 31-year-old former fifth-round pick (146th overall) by the Baltimore Ravens in 2016 out of Grand Valley State made four straight Pro Bowls from 2019 to 2022, but the Patriots are probably hesitant to give him a long-term contract extension on the wrong side of 30, especially after he played in just four games in 2023 due to a torn biceps. Judon picked up 43.5 sacks and 149 solo tackles in his four Pro Bowl seasons, but he'll have to establish his health in 2024 to find himself back on the IDP fantasy radar.

Matthew Judon Seeking Another Contract Adjustment
New England Patriots edge rusher Matthew Judon has felt underpaid as an arguably top-10 pass-rusher for over a year. Last year, Judon sat out of drills during training camp until the team moved money around to give him more guarantees. Despite suffering a season-ending biceps injury in Week 4 of 2023, it seems that Judon wants another tweak to his contract, which is set to expire at the end of this season. He'll be 32 years old this year and is coming off a serious injury, but he's also easily one of the best players on a rebuilding team. It will be interesting to see how new general manager Eliot Wolf handles the situation. Judon was in attendance for the team's mandatory minicamp in June and should return to the IDP fantasy radar in 2024 if he stays healthy. In 2022, he had 60 tackles and 15.5 sacks in 17 regular-season games.

Matthew Judon Expected To Be Ready For Mandatory Minicamp
New England Patriots linebacker Matthew Judon (biceps) is back to full health this offseason and is expected to take part in the team's mandatory minicamp in June after he tore his biceps early last year before having season-ending surgery. Barring a setback in minicamp and in training camp and the preseason, the 31-year-old veteran appears to be on track to be ready for the start of the 2024 season. And if he's fully healthy all year, Judon should be on the IDP fantasy radar after he racked up a career-high 15.5 sacks to go along with 60 tackles (36 solo) in 17 games (15 starts) in 2022. Judon was a Pro Bowler in four straight seasons from 2019-22 and had a combined 28 sacks, 74 solo tackles, 28 tackles for loss, 53 QB hits, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 2021 and 2022.

Matthew Judon To Have Surgery, Expected To Miss At Least Two Months
New England Patriots defensive end Matthew Judon (biceps) will have surgery on Wednesday to fix a torn right lower bicep and is expected to miss at least two months, according to a source. The team will know more after Judon's surgery about whether he has a chance to return this year. It's a big blow to the Patriots defense, and they also lost rookie first-round cornerback Christian Gonzalez in the Week 4 blowout loss to the Dallas Cowboys when he dislocated his shoulder. Fantasy managers in IDP leagues that have Judon rostered should move on to other options and leave him to the waiver wire. The 31-year-old four-time Pro Bowler picked up 13 tackles (10 solo), four sacks, five tackles for loss and nine QB hits in the first four games.

Matthew Judon, Christian Gonzalez Out Indefinitely
New England Patriots star pass-rusher Matthew Judon (biceps) and first-round rookie cornerback Christian Gonzalez (shoulder) are both out indefinitely as they seek second opinions on their injuries that they suffered in Sunday's 38-3 blowout loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4, according to sources. Not only did the Pats get embarrassed by Dallas, but they also lost two of their best defenders in the process. Judon suffered a lower bicep tendon tear that could keep him out for multiple months, which would obviously be a huge blow to New England's pass-rushing unit moving forward. Marte Mapu and Anfernee Jennings both figure to have bigger roles in the coming weeks. Gonzalez dislocated his shoulder is also expected to miss multiple weeks.

Matthew Judon Expected To Miss Time
New England Patriots pass-rusher Matthew Judon (biceps) is expected to miss some time after suffering an injury during Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys. The All-Pro defensive end has reportedly suffered a lower bicep tendon tear during the Week 4 loss. The team is still evaluating Judon, so his recovery timetable is unknown. The expectation is that he's going to miss at least a few games. That's a tough blow to this Patriots defense. Judon had 12 tackles and four sacks coming into this game. More information on his status should be known soon.

Matthew Judon Injures Elbow Against Dallas
New England Patriots linebacker Matthew Judon (elbow) isn't expected to return to Sunday's meeting with the Cowboys. The 31-year-old suffered an elbow injury, another blow for the Pats defense, considering Christian Gonzalez (shoulder) was ruled out earlier in the contest. Judon, who had four sacks entering Week 4, will likely appear on the injury report leading up to the Week 5 matchup against the New Orleans Saints. However, there's a chance he won't be out there for that one, although he will surely undergo further tests in the next day or two.

Matthew Judon, Patriots Agree To Contract Adjustment
The New England Patriots and four-time Pro Bowl defensive end Matthew Judon agreed on a contract adjustment on Friday that will take his original $2 million guaranteed for this year to $14 million fully guaranteed in 2023. The adjustment improves the original 2021 deal and will allow Judon to make up to $18 million this year. No new years were added to the deal. The 30-year-old former fifth-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in 2016 has made the Pro Bowl in each of the last four seasons -- two with Baltimore and two with the Pats. He has been better than ever the last two years in New England, racking up 74 solo tackles, 28 sacks, 28 tackles for loss, 53 QB hits, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 34 games (31 starts).

Matt Judon, Ja'Whaun Bentley Land On Reserve/COVID-19 List
New England Patriots linebackers Matt Judon and Ja'Whaun Bentley were placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list Monday, throwing their status for Sunday's game against Jacksonville into flux. Judon's first season in New England has earned him his third consecutive Pro Bowl nomination, as he has amassed a career-high 12.5 sacks across 15 games (all starts) thus far. Bentley has been a vital member of the Patriots defense, racking up 88 tackles, five quarterback hits, and three forced fumbles across 14 games in his own right. With multiple dominant performances under their belt in 2021, New England's defensive unit enters the final weeks of the year in must-start territory for season-long finals matchups, especially in Week 17 with a struggling Jags offense on tap. The appeal of the Patriots' defense from a DFS perspective largely lies in Judon's availability, so fantasy managers in that market will want to check if he is able to clear protocols in time to suit up.
